My puppy, dog people thing (1 Viewer)

This is not normal.  When I take my puppy out, she doesnt run down the steps.  She sit on the top step and breaks down the situation.  It is like she is in the armed forces.  She surveys the landscape looking for enemies.  If there are some ie anything moving she barks.  If it is "all clear" she will proceed on her poop/pee mission.   When she gets the "all clear" she is still at defcon 2.  More often then not someone will come in the strike zone ie neighbors actually being outside too, defcon 1.  At that time the poop/pee mission is aborted, and she come back inside to reevaulte hoping for a time will less enemies so she can complete the mission.

Gotta walk her out on a leash and show her how safe she is with you.  Let her see you're such an alpha you can't be scared into the house.

Plus if she wasnt leashed she would have 3 kills, she targets white haired white men.  Which fits my neighbor to a tee.

I've raised and trained a number of dogs.  Thought you were looking for help.  Good luck.
Me too.  The one in my avatar would not move no matter what if I my stay command up.  This one at 4 months, not leasable without force, not about force.

I didn't say to drag her down and beat her.  I said to carry her and show her how safe she is.  Don't be weird about it.

And she runs back up the steps, telling truth.  Fyi, you should never force a dog into a situation they are not comfortable in.  Dog 101.

I'm currently rehabbing a 2-year old former dogfighting bait dog who thinks I either smell or look like the guy who used to beat him and chain him in the yard.  His physical scars will never disappear.  6 months in he sleeps on my chest and runs to greet me at the front door, and finally no longer has nightmares all night.

If you end up thinking you have an overly-afraid or nervous dog, I'd be happy to discuss sometime.  I'll be around.

I think what you are doing is great,  i do have that dog but she is 4 months and came a long way.  I cant leash her and control her.

I didn't realize her age when I said bring her out back on a leash.  And you don't have to walk her down and hold her down.  I'm suggesting you hold her, and begin by walking down and walking back up and setting her down inside and treating her.  That's day 1.  Day 100 she should be comfortable in her own back yard.
