My Stock Value Strategy Starts Now (2 Viewers)

added 10,000 PRGN at 3.67-3.68 (mostly 3.68). Might be crazy buying this now, but I am too busy to watch the market like a hawk. With the 5,000 shares I bought previously at 3.40, I am into 15,000 shares at an average cost of 3.58.

I did a market order for 1,000 of PRGN on Friday at 3:02PM central time. It processed this morning so I'm in at 3.68. That 2 minutes cost me ~$300.

Bought 500 SCO at 29.24. This seems like a steal.
Wow you caught a nice price. I'm in at $29.47We are both good here I think. I saw it hit 29.12 on my screen right after I pressed the button on a market order, but was happy with anything below 29.40. I think we will see this jump up nicely either by the close or by Monday morning.
I got porked as I am in at 400 * $29.56
Sold @ 28.48 ($470).Now siting at ($60) on my "trade money".

In for $2K PRGN @ $3.69
Out of SCO?

Yup.

Anyone understand why Seagate (STX) has been climbing for weeks (its actually up 100%+ ytd)?
I played this stock a little before I started this strategy. The concern was Seagate would go bankrupt and now that does not appear to be the case. Just another case of a stock beaten into submission that either was going to fold or rebound nicely.

Kinda like LVS. :goodposting:
Check out the chart on HTWR. Wish I would have had ground level entry.

Just thought I would throw out a few of the securities that I am following. These are all small/mid cap stocks that I have found researching for "value." I cannot say they will payoff, just a few I have examined and chose to follow.

I can't justify buying anything at these levels. Left PRGN table, no bet, standing at FAZ table again.
I am about to sell FAS. It has crappped the bed in the afternoon 5 days running. Good luck if you gamble on FAZ. I wished I had the huevos to flip my FAS over to FAZ, but I don't.

Just standing at the table watching. Todays overall volume stinks, which makes me think it's time to head south. The volume in SSO will be lucky to be 1/2 the average. SPY looks like it will be about 1/2 average. Not very convincing. QQQQ same thing. I could be wrong but this market is fluffed up like whipped cream.

Out of FAS @ 8.75 for a 19% gain on those shares. With new found difficulty reading the FAS chart, I am happy. If it makes an end of day run like old times, I will puke in my shoes.I may buy back in tomorrow morning, but I am fairly worried about the stress tests and don't mind sitting on the sidelines. I am also on vacation next week and will not have any FAS to worry about. I may pile on the PRGN wagon a bit more though.

I'm just hopeing for a dip in oil to get out of dxo.

Fas and faz will be interesting come that report on thursday.

How is it that these stress tests are coming out on Thursday, every news item that has "leaked" about this story over the past few weeks has been "bad" and yet FAZ hit an all time low today (20%)?

I'm not in FAZ because I don't want to shed any years off my life, but why is this thing so low right now? I would think people would want in to get ahead of the news on Thursday.

Something isn't adding up.

OCNF up .50 since close Friday on 20.5 M volume today and JASO up .50 since close on Friday on nearly 12 M.

Hope the trend continues. :lmao:

edit to change .8 to .5....bad typing.

And out of PRGN @ 3.68 ($20). Didnt' want to be suprised in the morning. In fact I think I am on the sidelines untill Thursday no matter what untill the stress tests get anounced, unless I want to bet one side or the other on fas/faz.

Real close to 4X average volume today with Paragon with nearly 2.0 million shares. At this rate I expect the 10 million shares to get diluted very quickly.

Holy Poop. FAZ on yahoo is at $6.70, but the real time is at $6.29. Now it's down over 27% on the day.
So, one would think it would be a fantastic time to load up on it when the poop hits the fan later this week, right? Waaaay to simple. Obivously a trap game, but why wouldn't this pop up tremendously upon hearing the test results, which can't be good unless thorougly 'massaged'.

Puking commenced.Though the big runs used to be between 3:30 and close. I have to guess this falls back today.
Wow. Just Wow.You can say what you want about not crying over taking a gain, but I am in tears. Took a 19% gain but left 16% more on the table. Would never have sold before a couple minutes before the bell up until last week. But was scared because of the way they were screwing with balancing this.I have no strategy whatsoever in playing FAS going forward.

Well. Faz certainly decided to take a nice poop right after I bought.

I need a nice correction tomorrow after the hits I took today.

Year to Date Profit = $55,995

I think I am going to keep adding to the position too on any weakness. I am going ALL-IN here on Paragon (likely will get atleast another 10,000 - 15,000 shares). I have now semi-convinced myself that this thing might hit 6.00 after their earnings report. This buy and hold stuff feels so weird though.

When's earnings?

I'm sorry. But I just can't see why bac and 5th 3rd are skyrocketing today.

FAZ hit its 52 week low and those banks should not be jumping 25% in 1 day.

I can see a sell off coming and a lot of shorts and stop losses hitting quickly.

Either way its gonna be a wild ride and I bought my ticket for 7.25

Hey everyone, I recently got a custodial account transferred to my name that I want to use to start investing money in the market. It's a good chunk of change and I had a few questions about this thread.

What exactly is the basic strategy going on in here? Don't know if I can sift through 60 pages...

Who do most of you go through to make your trades? My account is at Fidelity right now but I don't know much about trading and fees. I'm definitely willing to learn though.

And finally how have most of you been doing overall with your trades on here based from this thread?

I wouldn't make trades solely off of the info in the thread, I definitely want to learn about everything but I figured this would be a good starting point. Thanks!

I guess what I'm asking in terms of strategy above, is it the same that Dodds has posted on the first page? Or over the past 5 months have you guys started to look for something different?

its very different, I think reading the entire thread would be a great way to learn some things. alot of info both good and bad. maybe learn from others mistakes

A few days ago was the time, but yes I am 100% convinced Paragon is going much higher here. It closed in the after-market at 3.85. I plan on having a front row seat here all the way to the earnings report. And if my assumptions are correct, It will really take off after the earnings report shows how many of the 10 million new shares are already in the market.

Had someone bought equal shares in the portfolio I outlined on page 1 (that everyone laughed at), that portfolio is up 17.95% right now. Just saying that a value approach to this year definitely was plausible.

David
