We just started using MFL this year. We have been on Sandbox, Yahoo, and ESPN in the past. This year we wanted a live draft (in person) and wanted to control certain things. Anyways, we decided to go with MFL.

I know it is still very early on, but MFL does not seem very user friendly at all. Maneuvering around the site is somewhat of a pain in the ###.

Anyone else feel this way? Maybe we are just too used to Yahoo/ESPN styles.

Its fully customizable. You can make it what you want. If you know any HTML or CSS code then you can REALLY spice it up. Check the support message boards there for ideas. They have one set aside for nothing but other users showing off their sites. You can see there what can be done.

All new things take a little time getting used to. Took me a bit, but now have been using for many, many different leagues for about 4 or 5 years now.

Takes a while to get used to, and believe it or not the interface is IMPROVED over a few years ago. It's great once you get the hang of it. It's pretty raw, but that's what you get from it, raw power and customibility. If you want pretty graphics and easy to use interface, go to yahoo. This is where it's at for those serious about fantasy footbally and who are computer literate.

We love it. It takes a little bit to figure out where all your reports are and all that, but it is fully customizable and they have GREAT SUPPORT! They are constantly trying to improve their product by adding different features based on user input. I would not switch to any other carrier at this point.

Other than the online draft feature. It is very Excellent. As someone said go to their support board and look at the leagues they showcase.

Even if you have no computer skills, they ahve about 12-15 preset "skins" to set up the front page of your league and you can then change color schemes and what not very easily.

Customer support is also Great. Never waited more than a couple of hours for staff to respond to emails. They also have a support board where other commishes will usually answer your questions or point you to a thread where it has already been answered before. This usually takes only half hour or so.

Like it?

No, I LOVE it - it kicks the CRAPOLA out of those other sites you mentioned. IMO, it is NOT difficult to navigate, but it is not "pretty."

:goodposting: Doesn't take very long to figure out where things are at all. It's very "bland" if you're not willing/able to do any customizing, but even then its features are much better than the other sites.

I agree. I also agree you can do as much as you want with your league's homepage. The Zealots pages, for example, are pretty nice. More importantly, you cannot beat their customer service. Their response time is amazing and they are proactive. I made mention in a thread on these boards a couple months ago that the email updates to/from MFL leagues are slow or never arrive. I received a PM here and a personal email from an MFL employee within an hour of making the comment. You do not find that type of service very often.

It's the only site I'd use if I'm the commish.

Part of the MFL problem is that it's so customizable that some commish forget to setup their site/homepage in a user friendly manner.

If you're new to MFL and a commish try different skins, and the homepage layout (under For Commissioners>Setup>Homepage Setup). Play with the % new column settings too.

I think that will help a lot.

Forgot to mention that unless the commish has blocked it the MFL sites now allow you to customize your owners homepage setup so you can override the commish setup and make all your leagues similar layouts if you want.

Tell your commissioner to get off his ### and fix the page.
That would be me :bag: Computer illiterate, maybe, but the only one not too lazy to set up the league.
I hated it the first year, till the last week of the season when i figured out how to customize it. Then it became Jaw-droppingly beautiful.Just click on random leagues when you do a search and look how they are set up. It is very powerful.

Love MFL. Wouldn't use anything else. I've been begging my uncle to transfer his money league to MFL from CBS, because CBS just sucks.

When I first opened my MFL site for my league back a few years ago it took me about a day to figure out everything. I ran out of time before my draft so I called them and asked them to help me load in the scoring system. They told me to email them the rules and they would program my scoring system. It was done in the span of an hour.

Very very happy with MFL.

the live draft system is great, can't believe someone complained about that...

try the rtsports one if you want to complain...

Jaw-dropping? Link, please. Allow us to be the judge of this jaw-dropping beauty.

I have been a staunch supporter of CBS for a while but even I feel as if now they have turned to the dark side. Does anyone have any negative things to say about MFL. It seems like a good site, even though I dont think I can customize it like most of you

The owners oin our league had a thread for a couple weeks to dump MFL and go back to FFLM. The biggest issue was prospecting for waiver wire pickups. FFLM had much better capablities for sorting and printing out reports. MFL is very limited in search parameters for sorting. For example, you can not sort DL by most sacks or DB's by most INT's. Other than that, we love it.

If I knew how to code I would just create my own fantasy site. ;) Seriously, though, I would rate MFL a 7 out of 10. Good, but not great. Lots of annoying little things. Latest example: They have no way to set up a double-elimination playoff bracket. Sure, you can manually set up separate brackets for 3rd place, 4th place, etc., but it's awkward and bulky and ends up confusing everyone.

I think it's the best out there by far, but I do have one problem. They ask you to fill out a survey towards the end of the season, so they can get some feedback. It seems like every year I tell them the same thing: our league's waiver wire cutoff is 6:00 PM on Wednesdays. They never have that week's NFL injury status updated by then. I can't IR a player who got hurt on Sunday until after the waivers have run. It would be a lot easier on all of the league's owners if that information was updated by Wednesday afternoon.I know. It's a very small quibble. But that's why I say they're the best out there. I would NEVER go back to CBS Sportsline. That site pales in comparison.

I won't join a league that doesn't use it.

As far as Yahoo! goes, they consider Colston as TE. A Tight End.

That's only slightly worse than MFL prohibiting you from EVER starting ANY players at multiple positions, even if the team specifically designates that player at multiple positions.

I believe the Commish can designate player positions.

That's not their problem, it's yours. The NFL injury reports from the teams are not all in by that time. You should make your cutoff time later (9pm) or make it Thursday. West coast, and Mountain tz teams may still be practicing at 6 pm eastern and central time, so they wouldn't have released their injury report yet.

I am in a league over there (not as commish) and I also found the navigation took some time to get used to and figure out. I customized my own page as I didn't like the way the commish set it up, and I really like the customizable options of MFL - that is their big selling point over most other services, I feel.

I think MFL is simply the best site out there. (rtsports was good as well). The thing that stnads out the most for me, and others have pointed this out, is the customer service. If you are having a problem with something, just ask. I have never had a time when the did promptly respond and do everything they could to help/fix the problem. There live game day is cool also. I love heraing the computer call out "Touchdown, LaDainian Tomlinson".

We've been using CBS for a few years and I really don't have many complaints. Although their servers were down a couple of times this year. Other than that, I like their live scoring and their link to Gamecenter. We've talked about making a switch after the CBS server issues this year, but I think the MFL site may be too cumbersome for some of our league's owners. It doesn't look as intuitive as CBS'.

The negative things I'd have would be more of an enhancement wish list than an actual negative. I think if they aren't already THE must fully featured site out there, they have to be way up on the list. But some of the things I'd like to see them add include:* Being able to queue up transactions as part of a trade... such as starting lineup changes that should be made when the trade is executed by the commish.

* Ability to clear out or set to default a player's salary when he is cut. You can have blank salaries set to a winning bid or to a default when picked up, but can't currently have them automatically cleared when cut.

* Automatic blind bidding resolution is a very difficult thing to code because it's a very difficult thing to even do by hand. There are some quirks where people can get screwed, though it's at least fair in that everyone is subject to those same possible quirks. I don't even really know how to fix them though, so don't expect any changes.

* I love that you never lose an old league's webpage so you can go back and look at results from the past and old drafts, but wish they saved the message board stuff too. I noticed it disappears in old leagues.

* I'd like them to reorganize where the various reports are at. I have no problem navigating around as it doesn't take long to learn where they are, but they could be done better and that would go a long way towards making the site more friendly to new users.

* Being able to queue up transactions as part of a trade...
:goodposting: This is a pretty significant flaw with MFL. It gives you no warning that a trade could push someone over the roster limit. It basically forces you to drop a player BEFORE the other team actually accepts a trade offer.

Used it and didn't like it. I like rtsports .
Why?
I'd like to know why too. I'm in a league that uses rtsports and I really dislike it. I'd change in a heartbeat.Does anyone know of a thread that gives pros and cons of different sites? One huge issue that I have with RTS is that you can't get a dated list of transactions. They only show the transactions for the current week, by team and don't even list the transactions for a team in order. It is very difficult to get an idea on the flow of transactions. I've been requesting a better report from them for years but they don't see it as an issue.Another RTS issue is that their "Live Scoring" is delayed at least 5 minutes. Eventually it gets there but it is painful waiting for that 70 yds TD pass to get credited to your player.

We are on our 4th year and the navigation just becomes second nature in no time. I'm the commish and I play with the layout all the time - add playoff brackets, move standings and other items up or down, put draft/lineup timers on the page, etc. Here's our league if you want to take a look (The Scared Farm Animals League): http://football9.myfantasyleague.com/2006/home/19825

Nothing special as there are a ton better customized sites out there - check the MFL support board as there is a forum for customization.

MFL is a great site and it lets you customize the hell out of it. Also, it keeps history of our previous three years right in the menu bar so we can go back and look at old drafts, old standings, etc. We use keepers as well, so having the sites linked up from year to year is perfect.

Probably the BIGGEST thing going to MFL is the support/development crew. They really listen to your ideas, put some of them in during the season (reports, etc.) and put a ton in during the off-season to continue to make the user experience even better. If you have an issue, Kevin on the support board answers stuff every day - almost all day long. Good luck with that on CBS and Yahoo (I've played in both of them.)

Guess you can say we are happy with MFL.

You can add me to the list that loves MFL. We were on CBS for years (we got in when it was free) and just switched to MFL this year. As mentioned by many of the other posters the two big things for me have been customer service and customization. I knew nothing (and still know VERY little) about CSS or HTML but by usig their support message boards I have been able to cut and paste my way to customizing a decent looking site. We certianly have not missed the server issues CBS always had - and apparently still have. It has taken some time for all of our owners to get used to, but the response has been favorable and has grown more positive as everyone gets used to it.

I would highly reccomend it to anyone.

I have a nagative and it's the only reason I will NOT use it, which is because of "League History".Yes, I know I can pay extra $$ to a 3rd party and get the league history data saved in one spot.

Paying extra just for that doesn't work for me.

So unless MFL finally incorporates this into their service I will never bother myself with it.

MFL -

Just the facts, m'aam. You can keep all the pretty skins and nice looking pictures and pre-loaded team avatars for your guppy friends.

True, but they keep all your old league info - I can still access all my old MFL leagues. This is a bell and/or whistle I can live without in exchange for what MFL provides.

We use the 3rd party history site (mflhistory.com) and it has worked great for us. The cost for MFL (early bird price) and the history site combined was still much cheaper than what we paid CBS. In fact when I was thinking about signing up for MFL I emailed them to ask some questions about the service. They emailed me back promptly, offered to set everything up for me (did it myself), and offered an extra $10 off the early bird price to encourage me to switch from Sportsline.
