I know Jene has alluded to this situation in other threads, but I thought it deserved its own thread since Salley represents excellent value if he somehow makes it to opening day as the starter. He can be had in most leagues for a box of stale crackerjacks.

I know Jene has alluded to this situation in other threads, but I thought it deserved its own thread since Salley represents excellent value if he somehow makes it to opening day as the starter. He can be had in most leagues for a box of stale crackerjacks.

Couple issues here, however. First, Salley was so shaky last pre-season that he was cut (and subsequently re-signed to the practice squad). The Panthers had some veteran options (Williams, Minter, Branch) and a nice special teams guy (MacAdam) there also, but cutting a fourth round pick after one camp and exposing him to waivers is telling. Also, Minter is apparently moving back to SS, with Salley to play FS for now, which would give Minter slightly better value. That contradicts the Scout.com note, but it comes from one of the Panther beat writers and may or may not be more accurate.Still worth watching, but the potential value at safety in Carolina may well end up being a veteran signed later this summer.
