I believe it was from the May 17, 1999 issue in an article about the rivalry between the Celtics and the Rangers in British soccer. The picture showed fans from each side pointing and yelling at each other. There was a policeman seated at the end of every row.
Why is it they haven't played vs each other again?
Also what generally is the quality of the Scottish league? I always think of Celtic being one if the world's great football clubs but there doesn't seem to be much in the way of competition.
Rangers were punished for going bankrupt (more or less) and booted way down the league ladder. They've spent the last few years getting back into the Scottish Premier League.
Both teams used to be among Europe's elite (Celtic won the European Cup in 1968(?)), but haven't made any noise against other top teams in some time now.
Quality is pretty low overall. I'd much rather watch MLS outside of Celtic v Rangers.
