Hey Everyone,
A good friend of mine (the guy that got me into fantasy football way back in the day) is starting a new fantasy baseball keeper league this season.
It's a mixed league (AL/NL) 5x5 league with the following roster requirements:
24 round snake draft
Active roster:
C
1B
2B
3B
SS
OF
OF
OF
UTIL
UTIL
P

P
Minimums for the season: 1000 ABs, 1000 Innings Pitched
Roto style (versus H2H)
For the first season, this is a pretty standard roto style 5x5 draft.
Following the 2008 season, here are the Keeper Rules
3/30, 3/24, 3/25, 3/27, 4/1We will lock one of those down once we have at least three other people signed on.
If you would be interested in participating (this is a $$$ league) drop me an email (wood@footballguys.com) or a PM and I will go through the other details. Basically we have been looking to do a keeper league for years [this will be my first baseball keeper league] and this is hopefully the culmination of that. Ideally we're looking for owners that are experience, active and will want to participate for many years into the future.
Thanks everyone,
Wood

Following the 2008 season, here are the Keeper Rules
We're looking for a minimum of three participants and a maximum of 5 (giving us 10-12 teams; we have 7 committed already). The proposed draft dates are:1) Keeper rules:
1a) Keep up to 6 players per year:
(2009 will be our first season allowing keepers). The amount of keepers will be reviewed after each season and is subject to change once per year.
1b) You may only keep a player drafted in rounds 4-24. Subtract three rounds off the player's prior year draft position to determine keeper status for current year. Ex: Robinson Cano drafted in 6th round in 2008. He is eligible to be kept as a 3rd round pick (6-3) in 2009.
1c) Players drafted in rounds 1-3 cannot be protected. They will go back into the draft each year.
1d) Players acquired via waivers or free agency (whether originally drafted or not) are eligible to be protected. However, their keeper status will be based on their average mock draft position in CBS Expert Mock Drafts for current year. Ex: If Ryan Braun (MILW) not drafted in 2007, he would only be eligible as a 2nd round keeper (based on approx draft status in 2008). If he had been originally drafted in the 30th round, he'd be quite a steal as a 27th round protection this year.
1e) Keeper league keeps everyone alive until season's end. As the trading deadline looms, teams that are out of the money can consider trading players they cannot or do not plan to keep. Trading ARod for Joba Chamberlein at last year's trading deadline makes for an interesting deal. A contending team could use AROD for 6 weeks, but a last place team (who would not be able to keep AROD anyway) can acquire Joba (let's say he was drafted in 27th round) and keep in the following year for a 24th rounder.
1f) Keepers must be announced by March 15th of each year.
1g) A player can only be kept at original draft status for two years following original draft date. At that time, said player must return to draft pool. This remains true whether that player is on originally drafted team or if he has been traded. Commissioner will track kept players from year to year.
3/30, 3/24, 3/25, 3/27, 4/1We will lock one of those down once we have at least three other people signed on.
