New England D/ST vs San Francisco 49ers (1 Viewer)

I sat New England this week, in favor of Denver's D/ST, and in the end they were just about as good. Even against the Texans, they looked great, and they are very opportunistic. So the question is, so you just play them @ home vs SF, or do you try to go out and grab one of the WW defenses

NYJ, Titans, Dolphins, etc. I might play the Lions over them, but they are not available in my league.

New England's defense looked good but in my league they only scored 5 points last week.

Kaepernick is still too much of an unknown commodity to know how he'll factor in. He makes his share of rookie mistakes, but looks good on other occasions. I think its kind of a neutral matchup.

Yea, I think NE and Den both are neutral. However, these two have been studs all year, even when I doubted them. NE has especially been great lately. Not one team in the last 4 weeks has gone over 20 points. Plus they held the Texans to 14. I think they will be ready for Kaep

Kaepernick's not a rookie, but he's still pretty inexperienced, and one thing BB defenses do really well is confuse young QBs.

Everyone seems to be down on this D/ST this week. Most sites have them anywhere from 13-26. I think they are being under rated for this matchup. I guess we will see

I'm going with the Bengals D/ST against Philly on Thursday. Cincinatti has done well for me in spot duty this year, and I don't fully believe in Foles' one good game last week.

Keeping the Patriots D/ST on the bench for next week's matchup against Jacksonville.

Going to roll with Miami vs. Jax over them (who I cut Seattle for).

Will roll with NE in Week 16 hopefully.

Hope Henne comes out ready to show Miami they were wrong and throws 4 picks.

I've been pleasantly stuck with the Pats defense for most of the year, I'm playing with confidence since I think the Niners are in a similar boat as the Texans in terms of their poor line and QB play, Pats turnover/take away ratio favors every opponent by this point.

 And coming into last night's game, why would you question the qb play from Schaub?

Trying to pick up Miami this week. Still tough to sit the Pats they've done so well the last while. However JAX is terrible and their skill guys are banged up.

Think I'm going Miami if I get them.

Because aside from his one exceptional year, he has been a middle of the road QB with one of the best WRs in the league. He has never passed the eye test, he is very much a worse Rivers. I don't mean hes bad, he leans on the players around him to elevate himself and hes exploitable - specifically by a defense like the Pats have. The Niners are in my opinion worse at every offensive position than Houston and share the exact same flaws.I think the Niners and Texans are both exceptional teams, but I don't think either have a good chance at beating any of the other division winning teams, they just cannot handle pressure or high caliber offenses.

I would put Schaub in the same category as Rivers and Cutler, below Ryan, Roethlisberger and Eli - poor at handling pressure and make poor decisions but are great talents.

It is definitely a gamble. Probably one that should not be made @ this point of the FF season. Kaep could definitely hurt them, but if they are on their game, then he could also make a lot of bone headed plays. I am keeping an eye on player news. If Talib, Denard (Denerd?), or Arrington are out, then I might choose to sit them. I only have the Pats and Denver. Two defenses that are as elite as it comes outside of what the Bears have done. So it is a tough choice between the two. I just think BB has this defense playing very well right now, and I am not as sold on Denver vs that Baltimore offense. Especially if they go with more no huddle

Agree with the others, best to leave NE on the bench this week.

I picked up Detroit and am rolling with them

I have been using NE and STL the past few weeks. I am going with STL over NE this week again. NE has done well but I like STL's matchup with Minny better. SF is a very good team and could play well against NE.

I find it hard to believe this thread did not get more responses. I would think a lot of people would be in this boat since the Pats are about a top 3 or 4 D/ST this year.

God this feels like a trap game for the Pats to me. Coming off a huge Conference win, and nobody is giving the 9ers much respect. I feel like this game ends up being tight, even if the Pats win. San Fran I think is a better team than their record and stats show- they have played much better against good teams than bad teams. I think Brady might be in for a rough day- they've held Rodgers, Stafford, Eli, and Brees to mediocre or worse games (by stud standards).

I guess it is possible, but that Pats offense looks like it is running at full efficiency. I think the 9ers must win the coin toss, take the ball to start, and then drive down on the first possession for a TD. If they don't, and then the Pats score first. It could become a very long night for those 9ers

I've also been using NE as a week in/week out starter this year. I picked up Miami and can't decide who to start. Right now I'm leaning Miami.

Rollin with the Pats this week and happy about it. SF on the road with inexperienced QB. Like.

Ive been rolling the Pats D out all year, but I won the Lions D off waiver this week and now I have to make a decision.Patriots give up a lot of yards, but they get a lot of turnovers. The question is, will Harbaugh let Kap take chances or will the 48ers just try to pound the rock down the Patriots throat?
