This team is going to be bad but they might produce a guy or two that can help you at the WR spot since they'll throw a lot. Plus Joe Horn is not the picture of health. If he goes down I could see a Kevin Johnson in his rookie year with the expansion Browns type season. Who do you guys like over the full course of the 2006 season? Tell us why you pick Henderson, Colston, or another guy.

Good poll.

Assuming NO's will be playing from behind lots and will be throwing the ball a fair bit it would be nice to know who is going to emerge as the number 2 guy and maybe even number 1 if Horn is bothered again by injuries.

Right now I have it as

Horn

Henderson

Colston

With Brees being a good leader and a consistent QB over the last 2 years The WR 2 of this list could be a great value.

Henderson seems like a good play here. The guy had 3 TD's in very limited action last season. He is definitely going to get more looks this season so that number could easily double. He is entering his third year in the league and although there is no proof of that "third year WR breakout" he is another year more experienced and will have a much larger role.

Henderson is still young 24 years of age and he could really have a breakout year. I take him over Colston the rook at this point for the WR 2 spot in NO.

This is the scoop on Henderson from the Saints home page.

This guy was hurt most of his rookie year in the NFL. He was a converted RB to WR in College so he is/was raw at the position.

Take a late flier on this guy in redrafts.

Career Stats

WORTH NOTING:

* After spending most of his rookie season on the inactive list, Henderson emerged as a contributor in 2005, hauling in 22 passes for 343 yards and three TDs in 15 games.

* Led the team with a 15.6-yard average per catch last season and had four catches of 20 yards or more, including a 66-yard grab at Minnesota that was the Saints' longest pass play of 2005.

* Ranks among the club's fastest players and is a scoring threat from any distance.

* Led Southeastern Conference in 2003 with 11 touchdown receptions, and his 19 career TD grabs rank second in school history.

* A sprinter on LSU's 2001 Indoor National Champion track & field team.

Talented, swift target with size and strength became a bigger part of the passing game in his second season, particularly in three wide-receiver sets. With Henderson and teammate WR Donte' Stallworth on the field, New Orleans has one of the NFL's swiftest combinations at the position, as both bring big-play potential by stretching opposing defenses. Henderson arrived in New Orleans after helping LSU win a share of the 2003 National Championship and two SEC Championships. After becoming a contributor last season and finishing second on the team with three touchdown catches, Henderson's impact is expected to accelerate in 2006.

Colston ahead of Henderson

Colston to Start

More on Colston

Everything I've been reading indicates Colston will be the starter opposite Horn.
from the 3rd link
Payton also said there was "no question" that he would start Colston at this point. That's a pretty bold statement to say about someone who has yet to take a professional snap. But Colston relishes the opportunity.

"It's definitely a great feeling that he would speak highly of me in that way," Colston said. "I've been out here just trying to work hard every day and progress and get better every day. I've felt that I've done a good job at this point, but I have a long way to go."

Devery Henderson, a third-year pro from LSU, took the majority of the snaps with the first-team offense in training camp. Stallworth, meanwhile, was dealing with nagging injuries. Inconsistent play followed Henderson throughout camp. That has dropped Henderson to at least third on the receiver depth chart.

:o wow, I can't believe a guy who was just about not drafted appears to be a starterI haven't seen these guys at all, do you think Colston will do enough to keep the job? What about the likelihood of him splitting some snaps with Henderson in a little bit of WRBC at the #2 spot?

In PPR leagues, somebody here is going to be a nice bye week fill in. If Horn goes down...... well, there's not much talent there to keep a guy who steps up from seeing a lot of passes

Saints | Hass waived

Published Sat Sep 2 10:05:00 p.m. ET 2006

(KFFL) The New Orleans Saints announced they have waived WR Mike Hass

I'm very optimistic about Colston, and have been for several weeks, but keep an eye out for Jamal Jones. He's waterbug quick.

Mike Hass will have more catches than either one of them when the season's over.
 ouch!
Yeah, I forgot we were talking about the Saints. They LOVE guys that run 4.2 and can't catch. Henderson should be their guy if that's the case. Hass had the best hands on the team, yes even better than Joe Horn's. Too bad he was white though. Lyman got cut as well. Have fun with those burners that couldn't catch AIDS on Bourbon Street. No wonder they've only won one playoff game in their history.

Wish I had seen this thread two weeks ago when MKB4 snaked Colston in a draft we were in together. I haven't seen anything more than the preseason games for the Saints and I'm not local so I haven't gotten a lot of camp news...what I have heard is that Henderson was given the opportunity when Stalworth was holding his hammy during the first half of camp. Word is, Henderson couldn't catch a cold if he was wading in a pool of toddler snot in a ball pit. Colston came from a small school, Hofstra, but has okay speed, 4.51, where he was an all-conference player. Guy is 6-03/4 and goes mid 230's. If he can catch he may be a very nice pick-up in deeper leagues or as a 3WR. Brees needs someone to fall in love with like Gates.

its funnier if you have a two year old :lmao:   oh, where has my life gone? :nerd:

Colston is listed as TE in ESPN, which runs my league. What are people projecting for him? Does he end up as a top 12 TE? This is a shark move if he qualifies at TE and is worth a darn. You would guess a #2 WR puts up 50-500-5......

How's that Henderson pick doing? LOL.Told ya he wasn't the #2 WR in NO.

Yep that's what Moose was trying to do...Colston was so big when he went into the draft that some scouts were projecting him as a TE. The Saints website has him listed as a WR. IF you can sneak a WR in as a TE in a league where TEs are required you should be at a great advantage. No one is going to draft Colston over thirty or so other TEs unless they have the same info you do. If you can draft him as a TE do it in the last round and start him.

I can't believe that nobody has made a move for Hass yet.
