Interesting but is adding tread on to tires worth the hype?  Is the Pinnacle of the next great manufacturing revolution?

No rims seems petty fantastic. Smart tires seems like a great next step to really accelerating smart cars.

No rims?  20-somethings are gonna puke on that, at least around here.  

The idea around simply reprinting the tread sounds awesome, though.  This may be one of those few consumer areas where a printed product makes a lot of sense.

I just fell over the article and remembered you assertation from the other thread (and didn't want to spend the time searching for it - since the search function requires me to remember stuff I don't). Anyway, I (still) believe that the application of 3D printing will upset a lot of apple carts over time.

It won't be tomorrow though, we agree on that.
