NEWZA -- On Covid Siesta til '21 (2 Viewers)

Where are we holding this auction? Do I need a computer or will it work on an iPad?
Yahoo.

I've done straight drafts using the Yahoo Fantasy Sports iPad app, but not an auction.  I'd assume the app would work for an auction, though.  It was slick for the straight draft.

in for hangout, send link....

also, any way to open draft room before 15 mins prior?  would love to remind myself of the interface again.

I kept Joe Ross instead of Aaron Nola

mixed feelings on this auction.  sat out the >30 players, which left me targeting some guys i felt i had to have.  others were on these guys too, which drove my prices higher.  the talent was mostly kept, especially pitching.  i wont spend >20, which forced me into the mid teen range For guys like maeda and ventura.  sat on my 2nd closer, wound up with casilla For 16 late. the better closers earlier were only 5 more.  but a success, in that i spent all my $$$$ and seem to have decent volume.

no bargains For me outside of homer bailey 1, zack wheeler 1, alex cobb 3....effin Kraft.

also, changed my end game strategy when i realized guys still had money, to intro top prospects so they werent 1- guys at the end.

suck it

Had real issues with the Yahoo site early on, lagging behind 3-5 seconds. I could hear auctions ending on Google Hangout while trying still to bid on players. Kind of sucked. Plus with everyone having money, my goal of playing for next year with cheap young guys kind of went out the window.

And Stryker, we totally did it on that couch.

Every auction is unique, especially when keepers are thrown into the mix.  There weren't many bargains to be had last night.  If anything, value was slightly better earlier than later which is pretty unusual.  I was determined not to leave money on the table like last year so I was more aggressive early. I think some teams got caught out waiting for value picks that never happened.

Mid-tier pitching seemed particularly affected by keepers.  Prices for the remaining arms were much higher than market so I stuck with bats in the $8-$20 ranges and ended up with very questionable pitching.  I seen teams in auctions with similar hitting/pitching splits but I personally have never ended up spending 80% on hitters.  I guess that explains why I like my offense and will have to scuffle for pitching.

sums up my night......

I like my squad other than the fact that I don't have a full lineup.  Forgetting that I kept Jose Fernandez caused me to chase pitching a little more which actually kind of worked out.

My DL, on the other hand, is full

Nick Williams available for an active mlber, preferably MI.

Trying to sneak the big pop low OBP guys through did not work out as expected. MIssed on Davis/Carter/Alvarez and Bogy bid me up On Gattis <_<   Justin Bour was a late consolation with some potential upside I guess. Happy to land Lind late, solid OBP but not the pop of the afore mentioned K machines.

on the bright side, I can field a team

I like my offense. Focused on high OBP guys. I tried hard to price enforce on a lot of guys. I didn't get much pitching, but it was by design as I didn't want to overpay for arms. Paid more for Trea Turner than I wanted to ($9). But I am happy I got him. Tried to wait till the end to grab Hinojosa, but got outbid. I need to add some saves and at least one starter.

I have speed to trade if anyone needs steals.

The top guys were keepers except for Tulo so some guys like Andrus and Semien went for above market prices.  I don't see any obvious value picks although I'm sure a few will emerge during the season.

My pick of Cesar Hernandez was my biggest overpay of the night.   In retrospect, I should have probably punted the position and spent the extra $9 on pitching (although there was very little mid-price pitching available).  Undrafted Jimmy Rollins will probably produce as much as Hernandez does.

I wanted Hernandez, that's why you paid $10. I felt like I butted heads with you a lot last night. I ended up with Brad Miller @ $8. I like his upside for double digits in steals and HRs. I thought that the guys that went right around the $30 mark were decent buys. I would rather pay $5 extra on a $25 guy, than $4 extra on a $6 guy. Seemed like that happened a lot.
