Oh Scotty...focus on your Vikes since this conversation has nothing to do with them :-)

The Bears keep winning although today was a bit of an unexpected struggle. Next week against the Pats should be a good test

The Falcons' defense always manages to do just enough...I wonder if the bend-don't-break style can hold up all the way to the playoffs/SB.

I do agree that the 7-4 teams are in danger of staying home. Packers' schedule looks pretty rough down the stretch so if I had to pick somebody it'd be then.

The Bears definitely have the D to be a top team but I think that Cutler is too prone to mistakes which makes me a skeptic about their chances in the playoffs. Today's win was definitely a statement and they looked really good but I think Atlanta and New Orleans are still the class of the NFC and the Packers also look really good. I'd have them ranked:1. Atlanta2. New Orleans3. Green Bay4. Chicago5. Philadelphia6. New York
And if NO beats Atlanta? Remember the Saints were a missed 29 yard FG away from beating ATL and they are better now than they were then.If the Saints get the home field advatnage again with a bye they have a great advantage. Same goes for (*aack*) Atlanta. No matter what, if ATL & NO don't pull out at least one home field playoff game, or don't get all-playoff home field ad, PHI, GB or CHI will have serious advantages playing at home up north vs either or both of them.

THE Chicago Bears!Sitting at 8-3 with what some can argue is the best defense in the NFL, and an offense that has become one of the most balanced in the NFL.I do not believe there is a team they would not have an advantage against, right now, in the NFC.
they have the advantage against the giants?

If the NO-Atl game was next week, even if NO would win, Atl would be ahead of them due to common games. Besides Atl, NO lost to Arizona and Cleveland both of whom Atl beat. Atl right now has lost to Pitt and Phily and NO beat Pitt but did not play Phily. So Atl would have a game advantage in common games. If Atl beats Carolina twice and Seattle, they should get the #1 seed no matter what anyone else does or the NO game.

If the Giants return Nicks and Smith, which it looks like they will, they seem the most complete to me. Atlanta is balanced and I would rank them higher than the Bears. N.O. is still around and as long as Brees has weapons N.O. has to be feared. I think the Eagles and Packers are at least as good as the Bears, if not better, though the Bears did find a way to handle both at home. I do think the Bears have been a bit charmed this year, but at some point the record speaks for itself and 3/4 into the season I think is that time so it would not be out of line to rank the Bears ahead of the Packers and Eagles. The Packers have the ability to put up points fast and to stymie other offenses, but they are also the most vulnerable to collapse right now. They are so thin now due to injury that any other injury could send them spiraling.

Being a Packer fan I hope the spate of injuries are behind them. I look forward to the rest of this year, but am really excited for next year when they will have an incredible infusion of talent if their I.R. list gets healthy and returns to form.

I respect what the Bears accomplished today. Even through the dark decade and a half that has been the Lions they have played tough at home. A win there is a solid win. I hope the Packers do as well next week as the Bears did this week. meanwhile the Bears are looking at N.E. , but on a short week for N.E. with them also traveling to Chicago. If you have to playe N.E. I figure you want to get them after the jets, on a short week, at your home. Am still hoping for a relevant game in Lambeau with it being for all the marbles. I now think the Bears will make it there. I am uncertain if the Packers can. I believe if they remain healthy from here on out they will, and they will prevail, but that is a big if this season. Good luck and good health to all.

:fishing:
Does that popcorn taste a little crow-ey?
Why would it?Because they squeaked past the Lions? They are a solid team and a contender, but they do not appear to be the best team in the NFC.

I think the Bears are pretty good but unfortunately 1 of the top 6 NFC teams (Phi, NO, Atl, NYG, GB) will not make the playoffs and that team will be the Bears due to the NFC West Division winner. Cutler will choke sooner or later and I'm willing to bet it will be vs NE and the season finale in GB.

If the bears do lose to only GB and NE, they will still win the division. Or do you really think GB can sweep DET, NE, NYG, and CHI? I don't think so. Say what you will about their record, the Lions are tough at home. #3 offense at home in fact. Yes the Bears lost to some bad teams before their bye week before they revamped their Oline, but you know what? GB lost to Washington too. I really don't know where all this GB worship is coming from. They are undisciplined, have zero run game, and can't stop the run. Look at the other 6 teams.Atl has the easiest schedule playing NO once more only as their onl hard game.NO plays BAL, ATL, TB....all tough gamesGiants still have PHI, GBPhillly has Dal twice, NYG, MINRealistically, Bears can win 2 games out of their remaining schedule and make the playoffs. I think the teams that has the hardest path to the playoffs will be NYG and GB. The NYG/GB, PHI/NYG, and CHI/GB game will be their do or dies.

They don't have to sweep those teams if the Bears lose those 2 games.GB can lose to NE and win the other 3 and will win the division in your scenario.Do you think the Bears will beat both NYJ and MIN too?Its not as if their schedule is any easier than Green Bay's. Helps that they have NE and NY at home...but still no easy task even on that excuse for a field.Should make a great show down in Lambeau in January.

Don't get me wrong. I think Rodgers is awesome and GB is a good team. Week 17 is going to be CRAAAZZY. the bears will handle Minnisota. NE will be tough but I think they'll pull it off. Pats can't stop the pass and aren't great vs the run either. Great D usually beats out Great O. The Jets is the one team that I'm most worried about. They're the team most built like the Bears. Here's one advantage for the Bears though besides being at home. Revis Island won't mean too much. I mean...who's he going to shut down? Hester? So? Knox? So? Bennett? Whatever. Bears has no go-to receiver that their offense funnels through so the loss of that outlet won't impact them too much.If the bears beat Min, and win at least one game between NE, NY, and GB, I think they're in.

Atlanta has the best record by virtue of the gift given to them by Garrett Hartley. I still say the defending Champion Saints are the team to beat when all their players are healthy. They are just starting to roll on offense, while the defense has been pretty good all along. Seems weird to say that but its true.
:kicksrock: Everybody will be singing a different tune once the Saints go to Atlanta on a Monday night and slap the taste out of their mouths.
Negative. :lmao:

Chicago just beat a 2-win Detroit team, we're all impressed.
Det has lost:19-14 @ Chicago35-32 vs Philly28-26 @ GB28-20 @ NYG23-20 vs NYJ OT14-12 @ Buffalo24-20 vs ChicagoAll but one of those teams is in the playoff hunt and Detroit lost to them by 8 or less.Detroit needs to shore up their back 7 and the OL...if they do...they could be a quick turnaround team.

Chicago might want to watch out for the Vikes. They seem to have more fire now than they did under Chilly. Rice has returned, Edwards and Allen seem to have found themselves. This does not look like the same team the Packers had their way with a few short weeks ago. In fact, I am happy, as a Packer Fan, that we don't have to see them as they are playing now.

:( Boy, is my face red.
Should be...they won 3 games...and despite losing today and may have screwed their season, they are still better than the Vikings.Enjoy...you should log back in with your Lions ID.
Scotty was right. Still not Greenbay.

Sure...never claimed they were. Might be the first thing about green bay that he has been right about.

Well. There was also this:
Green Bays [schedule]is just as bad, and they are starting a half game behind Chicago already. GB's only got 3 wins against teams over 500, and they have 4 remaining on the schedule. Detroit already gave them fits this year, so I find it a hard sell that everyone is on GB's bandwagon with so many games left to play.
And so far the jury is still out on my comment re: GB being lucky to win 3 more games. They've met the 3 more games, lost to Detroit, who I was counting on as one of the 3 wins, and still have to play New England, New York Giants, and Chicago. So yeah. That one's looking good, too.Cheers.

Tough for the Eagles, schedule isnt nice to them now.
