NFL Games, do you have the same feeling as the past? (1 Viewer)

Talking to the guys in my FF leagues it seems that "overall" interest in the NFL games is down from past years. Most of these guys are hardcore football fans too. I know that I feel the same way but I thought it was just me.

I used to be restless on Saturday night and Sunday morning waiting for kickoff and I would never leave the house. Now it seems like another day, I run to the grocery store or whatvever. And with smart phones I can just click and check my FF scores anywhere I am so I don`t need to be home in front of the TV or computer. I remember being glued to the TV waiting for updates on all the games before CBS ran our leagues. Everything is too easy now.

Is the parity the NFL wanted so bad ruining the game? Now it seems like almost every team is the same, just with different colors. And if were not for FF I may not be watching the games at all.

I think part of the reason you might not have as much interest is because of how the Lions are playing this year. Yeah, I know you said NFL games, but personally my interest in other NFL games only has to do with how this game will affect the Giants. When you are a fan of a team like the Lions who are struggling right now, what other teams are doing doesn't really matter in the end because there is still a good chance your team won't finish the year with a good record.

Considering this NFL season is setting records every week for TV viewing and ratings I think you might be on an island here. In fact I think they have said that 14 of the top 15 watched programs in 2010 have been NFL games.

It's a great time to be a Lions fan. They've been very competitive all year and look to have a very promising future.

Yeah, I don't think that is it for him. You do realize it is the Lions correct? They have been struggling for...well there is no need to be mean.Anyway, I do agree that the degree of parity is making it less enjoyable to watch football. I think it is a good thing for a team to know they can change their fortune within 2 years, but I think week to week is a bit much for me.

Yeah, it's tough to be a Lions fan this year. They were flying high, talking about being the first Super Bowl team to host a Super Bowl at home, and here they are floundering at 2-6 and all embarrassed. Just not up to their standards.

Fantasy enthusiasts tend to focus more on individuals, rather than just being able to watch the game for the sheer enjoyment. I used to be much more excited about the games, and it would suck when they ended on Sundays. When it gets closer to NFL playoff time, my interest in the games peaks.

It's hard for me to sit down for the full game in real time with the advent of the DV-R and RedZone. I watch alot of football, but rarely a full game without my finger on fastforward.

I watch less football these days but still love the game. To me, the NFL is the best pro sport by far. Other things have crept into the normal NFL Sunday viewing. Houses and kids take priority over TV on every day.
