LT.. San Diego isn't as bad as their record implies...
did you read my post? I specifically mentioned LT as an example. The question is: If the season ended today, who would be MVP? And I really doubt that if the season ended today, and SD didn't make the playoffs, that he'd be MVP of the league.

Sorry. Apparently I'm not the only guy. 3 people have voted for Vick. This is the MVP poll. :P

Leftwich???Rashean Mathis and Mike Peterson have meant more to the Jags.Everybody talks about Stroud and Henderson up front but Peterson is quietly having a huge year.I don't think Leftwich does a bad job(although the talk shows disagree), but it's obvious that the Jags game plan is for the offense to not lose it for the defense / special teams.

:bs: Cadillacthey stunk last year, he rejuvenated them. Big props to Brooks and some others but the new face gave them some pep.

I voted Palmer.6 games: 143 of 197 for 1573yds, 13tds, 2ints, and a league leading 72.6 completion percentage.Projected totals: 4192yds, 33tds, 5intsAnd most importantly, his team is 5-1 going into week 7.Hes making good decisions and rising to the challenge each week, and hes spreading the ball around.. His biggest test so far comes this week vs the Steelers, and I think hell do fine and post his average per game numbers : about 260yds, 2tds, and maybe an INT.This guy is good.

He must have been rejunivating them from the sidelines the last three weeks. If you haven't noticed, Pittman has had the same success as well. Maybe we need a Pittman option.

he's sick right now
Since you're the second person to say that I'll ask: Has an MVP of the league ever come from a non-playoff team?
has anyone ever scored 30+ TD's in a season? you asked who i would vote for not who do i think would win...and i would vote for LT2 right nowshaun alexander and LT2 neck and neck right now with chad johnson, drew bledsoe, and donovan mcnabb just behind them

I voted Palmer.

6 games: 143 of 197 for 1573yds, 13tds, 2ints, and a league leading 72.6 completion percentage.

Projected totals: 4192yds, 33tds, 5ints

i'd vote for chad johnson before carson palmer

No. I asked who you would vote for with one stipulation: It has to come from a current playoff team.

interesting point. So far Palmer has 9 votes, while CJ has zero.Does everyone really think that Palmer is the key here and not CJ?

fair point, that he hasn't been there. I think his presence rujevenated that team. You think if he was never there that Pittman would have led the NFL in rushing after the first few weeks like Caddy did? Well...to each his own

Santana Moss not being on this poll is plain ignorant.
 Again, please read my stipulation. Since I couldn't include any players from current non-playoff teams, I could not include him. Trust me, as a Skins homer, he was one of the first players I thought of. But I guess I'm just ignorant

My boy Carson.

I honestly can only see LT2, SA, and Carson as the only three worthy candidates so far.
I realize that I said no players from non-playoff teams, but I'm just curious...since many seem to be ignoring that rule and bringing up LT2, why isn't McNabb getting more love?

The Skins are as much of a playoff team as the Chiefs. :hophead:

Greg Jones...hands down. This guy is bring Jacksonville to the superbowl. I predict 1500 yards and 15 TDs the rest of the year.

Indy defensive unit.
The Robert Mathis/Dwight Freeny combo is definately making waves so far.Combined they have 36 tackles, 12 sacks, and 7 forced fumbles after 6 weeks.

My gut reaction before even reading all the options was LT. But given your stipulation that it has to be from a playoff team, I would say Edgerrin James. The Colts are 6-0 and doing it with defense and the running game.I honestly think tho that by the end of the season San Diego will be in the playoff hunt and the MVP will be just one more thing LT2 is running away with.

Marshall Faulk won the MVP in 2000, when the Rams squeaked into the playoffs only because the Lions lost the last weekend of the regular season.Barry Sanders was co-MVP in 1997. The Lions won their last two games by a combined 4 points, squeaking into the playoffs (one loss would have eliminated them).Randall Cunningham won an MVP in 1988, when the Eagles made the playoffs when the Jets knocked the Giants out on the last game of the regular season.O.J. Simpson was the only MVP (1973) since the merger to not make the playoffs, but his team was the 5th best in the conference. It also was the 9th worst, which wouldn't qualify in today's NFL either.

Tomlinson was underused the first two games and the Chargers went 0-2. Then they started getting him the ball more and have gone 3-1 since. Combine that with the fact that he is the best player in the NFL and he is my pick. I don't give a rat's behind if the Chargers are a playoff team right now or not and clearly others do not either. Tomlinson is the MVP right now.

I'd say it's the combination, but how many WRs have won the MVP?Palmer gets my vote for now, but LT will win it (I understand why he's not included)

Palmer would win it after 6 weeks based on how the MVP is usually decided (QB with best combo of winning AND stats).I think Brady will end up being MVP this season to be honest, with Palmer as runner-up and LT2 3rd. LT2 will win offensive player of the year (that's the award RBs have a much better chance of winning than MVP).

This is such a loaded question. If it's who would the be VOTED the MVP as of this week (or with a similar end result to the season), I suspect that the MVP would be Manning (they would be undefeated and historically the league MVP has been a QB like 70% of the time). As for listing who the playoff teams would be, the list is total hogwash. The Patriots are not on the list because they are 0-0 in their divisiona. So the Pats don't make the playoffs because they have not played a divisional game yet.

PFW's MVP Meter:
1. Bengals QB Carson Palmer (3)

2. Chargers RB LaDainian Tomlinson (2)

3. Eagles QB Donovan McNabb (4)

4. Patriots QB Tom Brady (1)

5. Colts DE Dwight Freeney (5)

6. Seahawks RB Shaun Alexander (6)

7. Colts RB Edgerrin James (7)

8. Seahawks QB Matt Hasselbeck (8)

9. Packers QB Brett Favre (10)

10. Panthers WR Steve Smith (—)
Manning's not on the list. He's not winning MVP this year.

Call me if the Colts go 16-0 (which is extremely unlikely). I don't think Manning is the MVP either, but if he leads them to an undefeated season with their upcoming schedule, he will do a lot more production wise than he has so far.I suspect that if the Pats right the ship and Brady continues to carry the team, he would get it based on his prior success without recognition (sort of like a lifetime achievement award) provided they have a long winning streak.

As for the list, the world would need to explode for a DE to win, and even Holmes didn't win it with the record breaking seasons he's had, so it would take an uber season by a RB and no great seasons by a QB for a RB to win. And no WR has ever won MVP, so I can't see Smith having a chance.

:goodposting: FWIW, If the Colts go 16-0, and their D keeps rolling after the speed bump that was the Rams, one could argue for Corey Simon. No chance, but an argument could be made.

Barnone.LT2.They could be 0-16, and the things he is doing on the field, record wise and how he dominates a game plan of the opposing team....LT2.Period.

Though I understand your point, Corey Simon would be no higher than 5th in the Colts team defensive MVP vote, behind Freeney, Bob Sanders, Robert Mathis and Cato June.

Another vote for LT2. This poll sux. You do not include LT2 because his team is just outside playoff contention in your mind but Thomas Jones of the Bears make it with their 2 wins because their division is bad? Makes no sense.LT2LT2LT2
