Does this guy piss anyone else off?

Week after week he sits there and adamently defends some of the horrible calls made by the officiating crews. Now I understand he has to stand up for his crews, but he acts as if they never make a wrong call.

If he was willing to say from time to time, "Yes, after watching it the call on the field was incorrect but we are limited to our reflexes and rely on judgement to make the call." I might have some respect for the guy...but this week I had to watch him defend the Wiggins review and the nausiating review of Chris baker getting pushed out....and he actually tried to pretend like the calls made by the ref's were right.

Maybe it's just a rant....but does this guy piss anyone else off?

People make mistakes...admit the crews can make em too and I'd be a little more willing to believe his reasoning.

:hot:

Yes, I agree. Rich Eisen seems to know he is lying to his face about defending his guys. I wish the guy would just be honest, but if he was, he would lose all credibilty.

Perriera did admit the reversal of Troy Polamalus interception in the playoff game against the Colts was a mistake. He also was correct in stating none of the calls in the controversial calls that favored the Steelers in the SB were wrong calls.

For what it's worth a lot of calls are judgement calls. Eisen seemed to be hammering on Perriera for this this past week and Perriera had to constantly remind Eisen many of the questionable calls from last week were not reveiwable and for good reason. You just can't have instant replay officiate the entire game and the NFL is very cautious about increased replay usage.

Heck yes it pisses me off. I have stopped wagering on the NFL and will only stick to fantasy since the officiating is majorly corrupt if you ask me. If they don't do something about it soon, you will see the interest in the league gradually diminish over time. Either that or take instant replay out of it. It is much easier to defend a refs blatant cheating on a live call. When they cheat on a replay call, then it becomes obviouis to the viewing public that something is very fishy... i.e. CHEATING!! They need to correct it soon in my opinion before it gets any worse.

I used to think this segment was one of the great things about NFL Network's "Total Access."

Now it's gotten to the point where they should probably eliminate the segment, because Perriera's constant and unwavering defense of the officials is undermining his own credibility, as well at that of "Total Access."

The whole thing reminds you that Eisen's paychecks are signed by Roger Gooddell and that nothing is ever going to appear on the show that hasn't been sanitized by the NFL.

You don't criticize your "employees" in public forum. This is done in a private setting, and yes Mike Perriera has admited there are blown calls.

Agree, this is the friggin NFL Network, the guy says what the NFL wants him to say...

Seems that they only admit fault if the call would have had nothing to do witht he outcome of the game.

They said it was a blown call for Polamalu but that wouldnt have changed the outcome of the game whereas they wouldn't say that Baker was definately pushed out of bounds and got the TD cause could have changed the outcome of the game.

Last year they admitted fault in awarding Shockey with the TD versus the Seahawks cause he didn't get two feet down, but if the Hawks would haev lost, I would guarantee you wouldn't have heard them saying it was a mistake.

Easy to say you had blown calls when the outcome wouldn't have changed....little different when the blown call could have changed the game.

I love the segment. (I am a football official at the High School level)

He has stated mistakes before. He does a good job of explaining the calls.

I still believe the Jets pass to be incomplete. And I would have called the Wiggins pass incomplete.

If you feel you can do better, then get out there and try. High Schools need more officials for all sports including football.

Yeah I noticed that as well. If it had been a 10-point game, they probably would have conceded that the Baker call should have been reviewed and possibly overturned.
