NFL Rules Question (1 Viewer)

Does the NFL restrict a playoff team's abililty to claim players off waivers or to sign a free agent once the NFL playoffs have begun? I've been searching nfl.com and nflpa.org for rules in this regard but can't find anything. Any help would be appreciated!

free agency is in marchThe waiver system is a procedure by which player contracts or

NFL rights to players are made available by a club to other clubs

in the League. During the procedure, the 31 other clubs either file

claims to obtain the players or waive the opportunity to do so—

thus the term “waiver.” Claiming clubs are assigned players on a

priority based on the inverse of won-and-lost standing. The

claiming period is three business days from the beginning of the

League Year through the last business day before July 4, and 24

hours after July 4 through the conclusion of the regular season.

Never mind, I just found the source.

I asked because a member of my league is complaining that he can't make a fantasy free agent move during our playoffs (prohibited by our rules, which he overlooked). His comment - "that rule is stupid and shoud be changed next season."

Is this rule typical in other leagues?

No clear cut answer, but usually they are allowed in single leagues (meaning that everyone is picking guys from the same player pool). In larger (like high stakes) leagues where the playoffs consist of league champs and/or additional teams from multiple leagues, they usually shut down the WW (since not everyone would be picking from the same player pool). In most leagues I wouldn't see a problem with this, especially if non-playoff teams are also playing for something (thus having an interest in picking up players as well).

FWIW, the Eagles signed Koy Detmer this week as a third QB.

There was an absolute ton of moves this week. I'm not sure if the start of the games=start of playoffs, or after week 17.BTW Seahawks might sign Marcus Robinson
