NFL Sunday Ticket (1 Viewer)

gone crazy? I just called to get the Sunday NFL Ticket and the price this year is $299.95. Is it just me or is that way out of line? Last year I thought it was $99? If this is correct pricing I say we boycott Direct TV!

What are the opinions of the masses on this?

Yes Super Fan is an add on to the Sunday Ticket for an additional $99. So if you want ST and SF it will cost you $400!

I sent Direct TV an email inquiring about the pricing and saying I thought that was too high etc.

I am a Direct TV customer and the only reason I use Direct TV is for Sunday Ticket. Last year the cost was $99 and I felt that was a fair price for something that you virtually only use one day a week for 4 months. This year the price has gone up to $299. In my opinion that is a rediculous price for this package and if this is going to be the price for this season and into the future I will no longer be a Direct TV subscriber. You had a good thing going but I fear you have become greedy and I hope that if the price does not come way down that Direct TV looses business. Shame on Direct TV for making a great program NFL Sunday Ticket virtually impossible to watch for the normal family.

Thanks for writing us.

I sincerely understand your sentiments towards the price of the NFL SUNDAY TICKET 2009 season. The price might sound like a lot, but NFL SUNDAY TICKET 2009 gives you the most NFL games you´ll find anywhere, for a very reasonable price all for about less than $18 each week ($299.95 ÷ 17 weeks = $17.64).

Over the years the cost to deliver NFL SUNDAY TICKET has increased, but we've done our best to keep the price increases to a minimum.

We know you have a choice when it comes to programming providers, and we must work hard to earn your business. We'd like to speak with you to see how we can help you, so please call us at 800-531-5000 so we can assist you.

Sincerely,

I know that explanation sounds great in your marketing meetings and focus groups, but remember this is a program that is on one time per week. So really it is $18 every Sunday. In relation to all the movie channels and other programming this is proportionately much higher. How is this not like HBO, SHOWTIME or something similar and cost $30 or so/month?

The country is in a recession, people are being laid off, and your company chooses to raise the price on this package by roughly 200%. I can not think of a single industry that takes a 200% price increase in a single year. This is greed, plain and simple! Some bean counter informed top top level execs that the increase in price, while it might loose some loyal customers, will yield a higher profit margin. That might be right in the short-term, but long-term loyal customers are far more profitable.

I also believe that Direct TV may have signed a new deal with the NFL to have exclusive rights which gives you the power to charge whatever you like for the program (I am not 100% certain on the new contract and exclusivity). Just when I was starting to be a fan of Direct TV.

I'm sure your company will get plenty of people to pay for the program but it will be your meat and potatoe customers (like myself) that will not be able to. I hope those people are like myself and choose not to continue service with Direct TV since he/she will not be able to afford NFL Sunday Ticket. I hope the decision to raise the price of Sunday NFL Ticket to $300 proves to be a major mistake long-term for Direct TV. I will be moving my service if the

price does not come down by the start of the season.

The last email was basically a blow off saying quit emailing us. If you don't like the price TS!

If you got Sunday Ticket for $99 then you must have been signing up as a first-time subscriber or some other deal. I've had ST for 12 years (counting this year) and the standard price has never been less than $129. It has gone up $10-$20 a year since I've been a subscriber.

The Super Fan is $99.

Thanks zed so what did you pay last year? I am more than willing to pay $30-$40 per month (Sept-Dec) like most other pay program sites. That is still only $120-$160, which I am more than happy to pay, but $300 is way out of line!

I also love how they let you spread it over 5 month to bring the cost down. You only use this program for 4 months (Sept-Dec) b/c you do not need it in Aug for pre-season games nor in Jan for playoff games as these games are all on prime time networks and most local networks are all in HD now. So again it is really $300 over 4 months or $75/month for this package... :blackdot:

+1my renewal rate was like $220 last season. was last year your first season cowboy?

Just to let you know, there is a thread in here telling about how people are getting DirectTV to come down on the price. Quit hiding behind your email and at least hide behind the phone and call them. Use the search feature on this site to find that thread.

:lmao:

Hey first, I am not hidding my friend I called first. Thanks for the search feature.

Ok regardless of what it cost last year is anyone else worried about how expensive the dang thing is now?

Last year was probably around $279. But usually I call and complain and they give me some type of discount or credit. This year they're giving me $20 off for 6 months.

You shouldn't even need the search feature. Just scan down, it should be on the first page.

i dont subscribe because i cant afford it, but it seems to me that a bump of $20 (it was $279 last year) is not outrageous.

and if you live in a city other than your favorite team plays you're going to have to go to a sports bar to watch them and pay $25 for food and drink anyway.

All good points, and like I said they have us all by the "shorties" when it comes to this. I just wish it was not so expensive. I like the idea zed about $20 off. What did you say to get that done? Or just general #####ing? lol

Part of your problem is that you waited too late. The early bird ends the end of July each year which is $20 off regular price. So now you're stuck at "full price" which is $299.Last year I paid $259 and $279 this year.If you have a budget problem then sign up for the 10 month "easy pay" plan they offer in January and February each year. Every year right after New Year's I sign up for this as I can more easily budget it monthly (with 2 months off no less) instead of 5 super big bills each year. Plus this year Superfan was included free with the easy plan.Anyway, call them up and get a deal, many people are getting them, at least free Superfan. Then get the easy pay play after the season is over. You can't get it now.

Cowboy they were not blowing you off. They were practically begging you to call in so that they can give you a discount that they do not want to put in writing. Call in and say cancel at the first prompt and then talk to their customer retention department. Talk to them politely and they will give you Superfan for free and they will give you $20 off a month for 6 months or $10 off for 12 months. Heck they will probably throw in some free movie channels and free HD. As the others have said, look up the other thread on the subject. It takes a few minutes but probably less time than you spent on the emails.

I called last week and got the ST, SF, and Showtime for 6 months for a net cost of $180.

My Colts season tickets for 16th row goalline lower level cost $189 PER SEAT PER GAME. I'm good paying $180 to catch all those games in HD for 17 weeks. It's like $11/wk.

Dude...
