NFLN/Time Warner Reach agreement (1 Viewer)

Thought this was news worthy for those with Time Warner

The National Football League reached agreement with Time Warner (TWC) Cable Inc. to carry the league-owned NFL Network and RedZone Channel, a person with direct knowledge of the situation said.

The multiyear accord may be announced later today, according to the person, who was granted anonymity because the contract hasn't been signed. New York-based Time Warner, the second-largest U.S. cable company with about 12 million subscribers, had been the only major cable provider without the NFL Network. It isn't known when the channels will appear on Time Warner systems, the person said.

The agreement comes about a month after the most-watched U.S. sports league reached agreement with Cablevision Systems Inc. to carry the two channels.

NFL Network airs 13 primetime regular-season games. RedZone is a game-day network that shows touchdowns and important plays inside the 20-yard line. NFL Network will carry the Cleveland Browns at the Baltimore Ravens on Sept. 27.

Time Warner spokeswoman Maureen Huff declined to comment. NFL spokesmen Brian McCarthy and Dan Masonson didn't immediately return e-mails and phone calls seeking comment on whether an agreement had been reached.
They talked about this on local radio and said that the NFL Network would be on a basic tier and the RedZone Channel would be on a sports tier

NFL Network is now a $7 addition on IOCable but there have also only been 2 regular network games each Sunday instead of 3. Not sure if it's just a coincidence.

Edit - Can't possibly be a coincidence. They want me to pay extra for the same number of games.

Hmmmmm....

Last week my TiVo told me that 2 new channels were added to my TimeWarner Cable service: TWSPORTS1 and TWSPORTS2, on the HD Tier. I tuned them in and the banner said they would be available starting October 1. Now this announcement comes today...

When will I see the channel on Brighthouse Orlando?
Don't know about Orlando but I live in Tampa and just spoke with Brighthouse. They said NFL Network should start this weekend at no extra charge. But if I want Redzone I have to purchase Sports Pack for $8 month. They also said instead of offering it for a free trial basis to see if customers like it, thay are offering a 30 day, money back guarantee.

Great to hear. I believe Tampa and Orlando are on the same terms. Unfortunately, I refuse to call those incompetent bastards at Brighthouse to confirm because I always get worked into a near anxiety attack when I have to deal with them. I'm one pubic hair away from canceling cable TV all together and live sports is the ONLY thing that keeps me paying the bill. I'll feel a little better if I can at least get the NFL network and I'll probably pay the $32 to get the Red Zone for the season.

I just broke my rule and called Brighthouse. The sales rep confirmed that they will be getting the station, but that it won't be "in the system" until next Wednesday, 9/26. She couldn't confirm that the NFL Network would be part of the standard package or what the charge would be for the Red Zone. She just kept telling me to call back on the 26th.

NFLN will come with basic digital and the RZC with the sports pass tier. Or something like that.

I've been hearing this Sunday is possible for Tampa/Orlando.

Welcome to awesomeness, TW/BH customers.

NFL Network reached multi-year agreements with Time Warner Cable and Bright House Networks, the country’s respective second- and sixth-largest cable providers, for carriage of NFL Network and the NFL RedZone channel, it was announced today.

NFL Network and NFL RedZone will debut in Time Warner Cable and Bright House Networks homes beginning this Sunday, September 23, with full launch before Thursday, September 27. “We’re delighted to have reached an agreement for NFL Network and NFL RedZone that provides a good value to our customers,” said Melinda Witmer, Executive Vice President and Chief Video and Content Officer for Time Warner Cable. “The additional games this year and the proven appeal of NFL RedZone will certainly prove to be a draw for our customers. We look forward to a long and productive relationship with the NFL.”

“We thank our customers for their patience while a fair deal was reached for all involved,” said Steve Miron, CEO, Bright House Networks. “It is especially rewarding to say yes to our customers who have requested NFL Network’s award-winning coverage.”

“We are excited to work with Time Warner Cable and Bright House Networks to bring fans football 24 hours a day, 365 days a year,” said NFL Network President and CEO Steve Bornstein. “Time Warner Cable and Bright House Networks subscribers will be able to enjoy our weekly Thursday Night Football schedule, our award-winning Sunday NFL GameDay shows, NFL Total Access, NFL Films programming and much more. In addition, the NFL RedZone channel is a truly exciting way to enhance your Sunday football viewing experience each and every week.”

Time Warner Cable and Bright House Networks are major cable providers in the home markets for 12 NFL teams (Buffalo, Carolina, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Dallas, Green Bay, Indianapolis, Kansas City, New York Giants, New York Jets, San Diego and Tampa Bay). For Time Warner Cable and Bright House Networks, NFL Network will be available on the Digital Basic and Sports Pass tiers, and NFL RedZone will be available to Sports Pass customers.

NFL Network is the home of Thursday Night Football -- 13 primetime NFL regular season games from September through December -- and is the destination for all that happens around the sport of football. NFL Network airs seven days a week, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and provides viewers with more than 2,500 hours per year of original programming, including: NFL Total Access, NFL GameDay, the new four-hour NFL AM weekday morning show, Top 10, Playbook, NFL Replay, NFL Classic Games plus the Emmy award-winning Sound FX and America’s Game.

NFL Network also features every NFL preseason game, the Senior Bowl, plus more coverage of the NFL Draft, Pro Football Hall of Fame ceremony, NFL Scouting Combine and Super Bowl than anyone else.

The extraordinarily popular NFL RedZone, produced by NFL Network, whips around every NFL game on Sunday afternoons, delivering the touchdowns and most exciting moments as they happen and in high definition. Bye bye Directv
Total hijack of the thread I know, but after seeing this news today did some google searching and saw someone say you could get the RedZone channel free with DirectTV by calling to cancel and then asking for it for free when you spoke to the retention department. Well I called in and they ended up giving me Sunday Ticket for free! Couldn't believe it. Just thought I'd share with other DirectTV customers out there. I've been with them for awhile so I was out of contract and they asked for a one-year commitment but no change to my bill otherwise. Good stuff.

Allright! So I FINALLY have access to NFL Network.

What NFL Network shows do you recommend?

I understand they show trimmed down replays of games through midweek. When / Where do they announce which games will be replayed? I couldn't find specifics at their website. Give me a NFL Network primer, please.

Called this morning and had Sunday Ticket and Redzone within 2 minutes of talking to the first operator.
