Broncos waived QB Kyle Orton.Interesting. The Broncos weren't going back to Orton, so the hope is that a QB-needy team such as the Bears, Texans, or Chiefs will claim the $2.6 million remaining on his 2011 salary. The obvious dot-connecting is with the Bears and former coach Lovie Smith, though Mike Martz's offense is much different than the one Orton ran under Ron Turner from 2005-2008. Tim Tebow is locked in as the starter in Denver. Nov 22 - 4:00 PM
The Bears are in the 30th waiver position for Kyle Orton this week. The Texans have a higher spot because their 7-3 record has come against an easier schedule. Though Orton had made it known earlier in the year that he did.
The Houston Chronicle reports the Texans have no interest in claiming QB Kyle Orton on waivers. This is hardly a surprise. The Texans are confident in Matt Leinart, who has been in Gary Kubiak's offense for two years. Any QB they sign will be a third-stringer behind Leinart and T.J. Yates. The Chicago Tribune and Fox Sports' Jay Glazer both report the Bears do indeed plan to put in a claim for Orton, though he's expected to back up Caleb Hanie if awarded to Chicago. Nov 22 - 5:37 PMdn't want to leave the Denver area, the Denver Post notes that his agent started talks with the Bears once Jay Cutler went down with a thumb injury. Chicago is the one team Orton does want to join. Nov 22 - 4:39 PM
