We havent heard anything on Vick's case ( there are no case yet ) for a long time , is it dead .
Using powerful laws that were enacted only a month ago (a bill known as HR 137), agents of the U.S. Department of Agriculture are determining whether Vick and others should be prosecuted for promoting and sponsoring dogfights. The new federal law makes it a felony to organize a dogfight.
The dogfighting investigation easily could grow into examinations of his income, taxes and other holdings.
In Dayton, Ohio, for example, the USDA and other federal and state agencies investigated a dogfighting operation for 14 months, seized 64 dogs, and indicted nine people. Last week, state authorities in Ohio charged another 38 who were involved in the same scheme. All 38 are charged with state felonies. Although that investigation began with a dogfighting conspiracy, it quickly led to drug, gun and gambling charges as well.
As the result of the new federal laws, jail is a probability upon conviction.
If investigators determine that dogfighting, in fact, was taking place there and Vick is able to convince authorities that he was not involved, then the focus of the probe will turn to those who were training and fighting the dogs found on the property. They will be subject to the same tougher laws that Vick now faces.
If he was involved but not actually in attendance at the dogfights, though, Vick could still be charged under the law's prohibition of sponsorship or promotion of dogfighting.
This is the calm before the storm.
What are you referring to and how do you know it was false? Who was "smearing" him? I would be willing to bet my rookie first round pick that Vick ends up suspended for a significant time over this, at a minimum.Actually there was hardly any news before, it was all BS, false reports and smear campaigns.
There have been many false media reports, many anonymous (aka make believe) sources, a few fake informants. Here is just the most recently proven BS: WVEC in Virginia took down a post that claimed that nearly three dozen dogs were found on Michael Vick's former proper in Surry County, Virginia.Impact: It looks like the station jumped the gun on this one. Federal investigators were seen carrying boxes off the property, but the contents have not been publicly identified. What are you referring to and how do you know it was false? Who was "smearing" him? No, I wasn't fishing. First there was a report about Dog Fighting on Vicks Property, then there is a report the Feds were involved. These are the only 2 actual newsworthy stories I have seen, these are legit.Besides that there are reports of dead dogs buried as if genocide occured, Animal rights groups out on a witchhunt, some senator telling Godell how to run his business, the local dog catcher jumping up and down yelling "We got Vick". There are stories of anonymous informants/sources allegedly speaking about an ongoing investigation to the media, yet they don't want there names known. Espn along with other news outlets have hounded on the subject when there was no actual news and there have been some retractions. In todays media it is more important to get that story out there even if it is inaccurate, jumping the gun, reporting false reports is more the standard as long as "Insert persons name here" gets credit for "Breaking News."He wasWhat are you referring to and how do you know it was false? That doesn't make it false. The Feds haven't said what they dug up there. None of the sources have been proven to be false, in fact they obtained search warrants at the state and federal levels based on the informants. The feds were also seen handing out face masks while pulling stuff out of the ground. They may not have found carcasses, but they also may have, and taking down the article doesn't prove anything, much less that it was BS. When the feds lay out their case then maybe some of the informants and articles may be proven false, but at this point NOTHING has been proven either way. There have been many false media reports, many anonymous (aka make believe) sources, a few fake informants. Where there is smoke, normally there is fire. If in fact ANY dogfighting occured at his house I have a hard time beliveing that Vick didn't know about it.Keith Lewis said:No, I wasn't fishing. That's kind of a good point. I would imagine the well publicized failure of Mike Nifong is a big reason why authotities at both state and federal levels are being quiet about this. Keeping their cards close to the vest and keeping their face more or less out of the media. When they're ready to indict someone then they will lay them out.Is that you Mike Nifong?Where there is smoke, normally there is fire. fixed.Thank-you Mrs. Vick Davon Boddie!Keith Lewis said:Actually there was hardly any news before, it was all BS, false reports and smear campaigns.
Likely why they retracted is the source will not back the story publicly. IE: The source told them the fact, but because of the veil of secrecy surrounding the investigation, they will not publicly disclose the information. That's my read on it. I've seen the video. They found something in those woods, and it stunk. They weren't randomly digging either, they knew right where to go. They had good sources. He had the benefit of the doubt from me at the start, but as I've read more about the property, the case, etc. it doesn't look good. Yes, the story was retracted, but that doesn't necessarilly mean that the initial report was false,. Very often it means, and my read in this case is, that the source cannot back up the story at this time.Keith Lewis said:There have been many false media reports, many anonymous (aka make believe) sources, a few fake informants. Good luck with that assumption.Looks like we can safely assume he's innocent at this point.I see a possible MVP season on the horizon.
IMO the bolded part is the most important news to come out other than the feds being involved. That senator is on the committee that started the steroids in baseball investigation. Imagine if the NFL were put up to that level of scrutiny, what would be discovered about illegal doping. I bet Goodell would like to avoid that at all costs in his first year as commish. Also, it doesn't seem like anyone knows whether there were dog carcasses or not, so it was right for the station to take down a claim that they were dog carcasses. However, that certainly doesn't mean that the report was wrong, simply that it was based on unconfirmed information.Keith Lewis said:No, I wasn't fishing.
