First time back in the Hub since he was traded... I can't believe that was 5 years ago now. So much has changed since then; it's like two entirely different franchises almost.

This guy was once an icon in Beantown. It seemed like he would inevitably join the ranks of Orr, Yaz, Brady, Bird, Teddy Ballgame, Russell, etc. Who would have ever guessed that trading him away would become a huge part of what sprung the '04 Sox to their first World Series win since 1918? Now, the Nomar era is essentially an afterthought, easily forgotten with Boston's recent run of success. There was a time when Nomar was a better player than Derek Jeter - now, Jeter is rounding out his career as a first-ballot Hall of Famer, while Nomar's reputation has been sullied with steroid accusations and repeated injuries. Nonetheless, I'm expecting an extended standing ovation when this guy is introduced tonight.

Tons of great memories of probably the best shortstop and one of the most fun-to-watch players in Red Sox history...

He got a lengthy standing ovation before his first at bat. Great to see. His pregame press conference was cool too - he was very emotional about returning to Fenway. He managed to have a good game two - two hits and drove in the first run. Good for Nomar.
