That is a first round in itself...I am guessing Toby Gearhart had no illusions he would be taken in Round 1. I am guessing a quarter of those guys make it to Round 4 just based on probablility. For what it is worth, I doubt Kindle and Clausen make it past pick 4 in the second round.

Interesting that Pete Carroll passed on Taylor Mays to pick Earl Thomas.

Wonder what'll happen with Claussen when KC comes up in the 2nd round tonight.

All kinds of value sitting there with Kindle.

Taylor Mays is not as good as casual fans think he is. He has poor playmaking instincts and his tackle numbers are deceptive because many of them were the result of his coverage mistakes. He can be a decent starter for a team that wants an enforcer in centerfield, but he's not some kind of brilliant football talent.

I don't know much about Mays, but would liken him to Roy Williams (DB)?

I've heard this, too.

Only people in that list that could have reasonably expected to be 1st rounders:

Jimmy Clausen

Golden Tate

Still has to sting, right? You just know he was sitting there thinking "Pick me, coach...pick ME!!"

Absolutely nothing, I hope and pray!I'd like Tate, maybe take a shot on Price and bulk him up 10-15#. Not sure if I'd gamble on Kindle. If he turns out ok, would be great value.

Kindle was seen by many as a first rounder. What caused his slide was the rumor of microfracture surgery (true?).
True or not that was the perception and it cost him a ton of money.
Indeed. Many still see him as a 1st round talent, though, and as an outright steal in the 2nd round.

I agree, I probably should have included him as well, though I'm not sold on him as being able to overcome tweener status.Interesting blurb on rotoworld about Clausen:

Citing league sources with knowledge, the National Football Post reports Jimmy Clausen is sliding because of concerns about his surgically repaired right big toe.

Specifically, "the degree of stiffness of the toe" caused concern during his physical at the Combine. Clausen's doctor deemed the surgery a success, and he performed well during his pro day despite limited mobility. It's quite possible that the injury is of the nagging variety, but that doesn't explain the concern at the Combine two months ago
