Snickers

I was at a restaurant last week and for dessert I had dough boys with warm nutella. Holy crap is this stuff good, can't believe nobody turned me on to this before. Is it really good for you as well?

Nutella > Biscoff spread > almond butter > peanut butter

All are awesome on toasted bread with some marshmallow fluff

It's chocolate spread. Of course it's not good for you.
No it's not. It's a mix of hazelnut and cocoa and some other stuff. My wife got huge into this stuff when she lived in Spain, and turned me onto it when we were dating. Absolutely awesome. You want a real treat? Get some crepe shells. Spread some nutella in there, heat them up in the oven. Holycrapamazing.

There's a crepe place in the Paris LV hotel that serves these. Always make a stop there when I'm in town.

they sell premade crepes? Wifey makes them with nutella and whipped cream. insane. i always wonder why all restaurents don't serve this in some manner instead of chocolate. it puts chocolate to shame.

I tried it once. It tastes like bread smeared with chocolate frosting. Just awful. Might be better on other things but after that experience I'm in no hurry to give it another shot.

Straight on the jar with a spoon is how I prefer it.

Ingredients: SUGAR, PALM OIL, Hazelnuts, Cocoa, Skim Milk, Reduced Minerals Whey (Milk), Lecithin As Emulsifier (Soy), Vanillin: An Artificial Flavor

It's touted as something healthy when it's mostly sugar and oil.

Tasty? Somewhat.

Healthy? No, not really.

Sugar being the first ingredient is problematic.Palm oil, on the other hand, is perfectly nontoxic. The palm oil in Nutella is probably refined, which deprives it of the Vitamin A and Vitamin E and some of the other good stuff in unrefined (red) palm oil. But still, it's mostly harmless saturated and monounsaturated fat. It's relatively low in harmful polyunsaturated Omega-6 fats. It's way better than canola oil or soybean oil or corn oil or peanut oil or safflower oil . . .

Big fan of chocolate, but not a fan of the hazelnut. thus- nutella is meh for me.

I will say the nutella/banana crepe can hit the spot in a way that borders on illegal... sometimes.

I dont think its really touted as healthy, is it? I think of it more as hiker food, yummy and really calorie dense. We've been eating a ton of apples lately. Slice em up and go half with PB and half with Nutella. Been pimping this stuff for years in the Official Nut Butter Thread

Paging the HFCS crazies...

Link?
Jeebus I need a link?!? The first ingredient is sugar. That means that it's the biggest ingredient by weight. It says on the jar "Over 100 Hazelnuts in every jar" and yet hazelnuts are the third ingredient. It also says on the jar that it's part of a tasty yet balanced breakfast. You would be better off eating cocoa covered hazelnuts and doing away with the sugar and oil, IMO.

I like to toast cinnamon bread, spread Nutella on it, add some sea salt and make a sandwich.

The only thing better than Nutella is Nutella flavored gelato.

Oh I know it's not good for you... it's just not touted as something healthy.

If I were stuck on a deserted island with another man, and my choice of meal was a T-bone steak, or the Nutella that was smeared on the other dudes ###.

I would go for the Nutella.

:lmao: It's not un-unhealthy..Dont kid yourselves, it's about as unhealthy a food as there is. It's that delicious for a reason..

It's healthy, just like those Veggie Stix I eat so much of.

Basically, Nutella's claim to fame is that it facilitates your kids eating whole grains. Well, so would the sugar sandwich that Martin Lawrence used to talk about.

From the Nutella Tips For Moms website:

Q: What is the best breakfast to serve my child in the morning?

Connie: The “best” breakfast is the one that will be eaten! With the unique taste of Nutella, kids may think they are eating a treat for breakfast, while moms are helping nourish their children with whole grains. A slice of whole wheat toast spread with Nutella®, a serving of fresh fruit and a cup of yogurt or 1% milk provides perfect balanced nutrition to start the day.

Q: Why do you recommend using Nutella® as part of a balanced breakfast?

Connie: Research reflects the importance of eating a balanced breakfast on a daily basis and the positive impact breakfast has on individuals.1 When used in moderation with complementary foods, Nutella® can form a part of a balanced meal. You can start your day with a genuine and tasty breakfast by spreading Nutella® hazelnut spread on a variety of bakery goods, preferably whole wheat or multigrain bread. Add a glass of 1% milk and juice or fruit to get the right fuel to start your day!
