O.Daniels HOU TE (1 Viewer)

I know he is dealing with recovery right now but he was on a pace last yr that was insane.

Seeing was what we know now and that might not be to much yet, where do you rank him with the big top end te's.

He's a guy most people are looking to after the top 5 or 6 Te's are gone and then hoping he's going to produce like those top 5 or 6.He's in a passing offense and was on track for a very good season last year but I have a hard time believing this guy stays healthy all season long. If you draft him, you should have a backup plan, make sure you have a decent backup at TE since you waited a little longer at the TE postion and skipped over the elite TE's at least on paper.

Owen Daniels (and Zach Miller) are 2 of the reasons that I want to wait on a TE this year.

To me Daniels is the perfect candidate to buy late. Sure, there is some risk. But in one league I was able to get him in the 9th round. He was on pace for over 1000 yds and 10 TDs before his injury. The Texans are a top 5 passing offense and he will be the second most targeted player, most likely.

I'll take that risk.

I agree 100%.

I'm buying Daniels and Cooley late all day long if I can. Those two offenses are the same and a heavily involved TE is part of the scheme. Daniels has had torn ACLs in the past and come back great so a there is no worry of a reduction in ability, just the clock until his next knee injury imo.

How healthy is he ? There have been reports of a rehab setback then a trip to Dr. Andrew last week. Will he really be good to go, week 1 ?

The only problem with Cooley is that to some extent his injury gave Fred Davis the chance to establish himself as a pretty good player. Will Davis take snaps and receptions from Cooley now?

He is on schedule. I haven't been able to find much about the details of this "setback".He is going to play in either the last preseason or first regular season game.

Health is my biggest concern with Daniels. If he was 100% healthy, I'd have him ranked #4. Not being able to see him play and knowing he is not fully recovered yet makes it much too risky to bank on him. He could be a bona fide stud or play at 80% and disappoint until he finally breaks down. Tough call imo. Pairing Daniels with a zach miller, carlson, shiancoe or cooley is a solid play.

I agree that Davis has looked very good, but the eyeball test tells me McNabb has great chemistry already with Cooley. NFL does stand for not for long though.

What is his injury status at this point?I know they are saying he won't play until the opener, but is he practicing or otherwise participating in camp?

Owen Daniels-TE - Texans Aug. 17 - 11:36 am et

Coach Gary Kubiak indicated that Owen Daniels (knee) is "right on schedule" to be ready for the first regular season game.

"Do I expect to see him (Daniels) in the preseason? It would be the last game if we’re going to see him," said Kubiak. The head coach added that Daniels is "progressing very well" in his rehab. We don't expect to see Daniels at all in exhibition action, but it sounds like Kubiak is counting on him against the Colts on September 12. He's safe to draft as a top-10 tight end, though we'd prefer to let someone else pick Daniels at his current seventh-round ADP.

Great News For Texans' DanielsUpdated: Tuesday, 24 Aug 2010, 3:18 PM CDTPublished : Tuesday, 24 Aug 2010, 3:08 PM CDTHouston - Houston Texans Pro Bowl tight end Owen Daniels received great news Tuesday from the team's doctors. In a text message to FOX 26 Sports Daniels writes, "scan and MRI say I'm 100%."Going to Alabama to see Dr. Andrews (Wednesday)."This is all part of a two-step process this week for Daniels to get clearance to begin working out full-speed.He will meet with Dr. James Andrews Wednesday in Alabama. Dr. Andrews performed the surgery on the damaged anterior cruciate ligament in Daniels' right knee.He suffered the injury during the eighth game of the 2009 season and his goal has been to play in the Texans' 2010 regular season opener. The blessing to move forward from Dr. Andrews is what Daniels' described last week in New Orleans as the big moment for him in his efforts to return from major surgery.Daniels has expected nothing but good news and so far the information he has received has met his expectations. It's great news for the Texans franchise as well, as they need their Pro Bowl tight end back in the lineup.

Texans TE Daniels: MRI says I'm '100 percent'

Owen Daniels emerged from his MRI in Houston on Tuesday saying the test showed his surgically repaired knee is "100 percent."

"Scan and MRI say I'm 100 percent," he confirmed to MyFOX Houston. Daniels will go for a recheck with Dr. James Andrews on Wednesday, but it appears he'll be medically cleared to start the season. Draft him as a top-ten TE1. Aug. 24 - 5:07 pm et

Another question is would you rather have the combo of Owen Daniels + Bowe or Crabtree

- or -

Finley or Vernon Davis + Houshmandzadeh or Santonio Holmes ???

Personally I would rather have the fomer choices.
