Trying to gauge Branch's long-term viability here. They obviously invested high picks in Huff and Mitchell, and I assume they'll want to get Mitchell on the field. Anyone have any insight into this and to what their roles would be if a change was made?

FWIW, I think Branch is safe as the SS this year but that's really not based on anything concrete.

I let him go in the restricted free agent auction of a dynasty league. With such a crowd of young talent, it will be tough to continue to put up top 5 numbers regularly (which was the price the guy paid for him). What is good for the team NFL wise will be harmful to Branch fantasy wise, IMO.He'll have a good year, but I'd be surprised to see tackle numbers so high again. I think Oakland as a whole will be 10x's better this year as a team and that doesn't bode well for tackle opportunities.

I think I was just reading something about mitchell at lb, but I don't remember where.

maybe it was even here.

edit:

I was trying to google it --- there's this bit, I guess.

I have no idea if it's legit info.

Barring significant injury, Nnamdi Asomugha and Chris Johnson will be the starting cornerbacks. The starting safeties will be Michael Huff and last year's surprise break out Tyvon Branch. Last year's second round pick Mike Mitchell will be pushing Huff for that starting position. The team will be using the "wolverine" three safety nickel package to bring him in frequently, as well as in short yardage situations.
