These are the teams who finished dead last in their divisions in 2006. Of these eight teams which is most likely to make the playoffs?

AFC

North--Cleveland (4-12)

South--Houston (6-10)

East----Miami (6-10)

West---Oakland (2-14)

NFC

North--Detroit (3-13)

South--Tampa Bay (4-12)

East----Washington (5-11)

West---Arizona (5-11)

AZ and TB have shots, with the Cards the best option.Other than that..... no way.

I would think that none of the AFC cellar dweller teams would have a chance due to the conference they are in. In the NFC it's a crap shoot. If I had to pick one I guess it would be Tampa Bay, but I do think that Detroit :blackdot: will make some strides this year. Not saying that the Lions will make the playoffs but in the North division and in the NFC anything is possible. Arizona is another that is on the rise but I think that the NFC West will be better top to bottom so it will be hard for them. They also have a rookie head coach.

Miami and Arizona would be my most likely candidates. Some things need to fall into place for Miami but who of these 8 DON'T need some things to fall into place? I don't think Miami is very far from respectable. If the O-line somehow improves into an average unit under Houck and they get QB a little more settled the 'Fins aren't far from being average. They still have a defense and wierd things can happen for teams with solid def. Squeak out 2-3 ugly ones that you shouldn't have and all of a sudden you're looking at a wildcard.

Arizona has the best chance, with Tampa and Miami at least having a prayer.

I wouldn't bet on any of them though. :blackdot:

Redskins have as good as chance as anyone.

Giants lost Tiki.

Cowboys lost Parcells. If you think a team doesn't have growing pains under a completely new system, you're kidding yourself.

Eagles can't stop the run, and will McNabb be ready in September?

Anyone can win the NFC East this year.

Actually, Phillips has never failed to make the post-season in his 1st season as H.C. Not saying that's what's going to happen in Dallas - but a seasoned H.C.'s 1st year is by no means a death sentence.

I'm not even talking about Phillips success or failures, just saying you listen to the players, its a VERY different coaching staff, attitude, and even play book. I think the cowboys will definitely have some growing pains, especially early. Just like the Skins did last year.

I can agree with that.

Detroit . . .

the D stinks, but the O is good enough to win games by itself, and they were in most games last year until the end . . .

Im going to disagree with you guys. The cowboys kept their Offensive coordinator on staff from last year (tony sporano) although they named Jason Garret the OC they have repeatedly said that the playbook will be the same but with some small tweaking. As far as defense is concerned could they possibly get any worse than the last 6 weeks of last season? I dont think so.

Arizona seems to make sense, largely because the NFC West is pretty weak in general. Specifically, most of the teams in that division are only mediocre, so any of them has a decent chance to win the division going a game or two above five hundred.
