***Official 2007 Rookie RB Discussion Thread*** (1 Viewer)

Selvin Young and Ramonce Taylor are both talented enough as KR and pass catchers to catch on as an RB4/change of pace somewhere.

This is how I see things panning out....

1.07 Adrian Peterson (Oklahoma) to Minnesota Vikings - he'll split time with Chester Taylor for a few years. I think he's obvioulsy the far better RB, but the 2 RB system is very popular right now. He will still be able to put up top-10 numbers.

1.12 Marshawn Lynch (California) to Buffalo Bills - starter

4.12 Dwayne Wright (Fresno State) to Buffalo Bills - GL guy

2.17 Kenny Irons (Auburn) to Cincinnati Bengals - depth

2.18 Chris Henry (Arizona) to Tennessee Titans - a joke of a pick, Lendale should be safe

2.20 Brian Leonard (Rutgers) to St Louis Rams - GL and 3rd down guy

2.31 Brandon Jackson (Nebraska) to Green Bay Packers - will compete for starting job, but likely will split carries with VM

7.18 DeShawn Wynn (Florida) to Green Bay Packers - has almost as good a shot as Jackson to beat out VM. These two picks indicate the PAckers aren't sold on VM, but that they do at least think he has a shot at starting.

3.07 Lorenzo Booker (Florida State) to Miami Dolphins - depth

6.07 Reagan Mauia (Hawaii) to Miami Dolphins - practice squad

3.27 Tony Hunt (Penn State) to Philadelphia Eagles - will see some carries

7.26 Nate Ilaoa (Hawaii) to Philadelphia Eages - practice squad

3.30 Garrett Wolfe (Northern Illinois) to Chicago Bears - depth

4.01 Michael Bush (Louisville) to Oakland Raiders - should compete to start at some point this season

6.01 Orenthal O’Neal (Arkansas State) to Oakland Raiders - his first name is the only thing he has in common with OJ :banned: backup

4.08 Antonio Pittman (Ohio State) to New Orleans Saints - weird, not a strong runner like Deuce, not shifty like Bush, backup with fill in potential if one of the starters gets hurt

4.38 Leron McClain (Alabama) to Baltimore Ravens - junk

5.11 Kolby Smith (Louisville) to Kansas City Chiefs - junk

6.12 Thomas Clayton (Kansas State) to San Francisco 49ers - nice depth

6.21 Deon Anderson (Connecticut) to Dallas Cowboys - cut

6.34 Justin Hairston (Central Connecticut) to New England Patriots - speacial teams?

7.34 Jason Snelling (Virginia) to Atlanta Falcons - practice squad

7.36 Ken Darby (Alabama) to Tampa Bay Buccaneers - cut

7.40 Ahmad Bradshaw (Marshall) to NY Giants - cut

Mostly agree with your assessments, although I think Irons has a chance to be a starter someday and I won't be completely surprised if Brandon Jackson turns into a decent player.

Looks like I was pretty dead on with most of these... outside of Kolby Smith, Bradshaw and Bush (because he got hurt)

This was just an incredibly weak RB draft class. Peterson and Lynch were the only obvious starters. Jackson, Irons, and Henry were the only other guys who had the physical skills on paper. Michael Bush was mildly intriguing, but none of the other guys ever really had a chance to amount to anything.

Kolby Smith, Selvin Young, and Ahmad Bradshaw have shown some flashes, but they have a long road ahead of them if they want to be long-term contributors.

Just not a very good group.
