Should be a fun series. Plenty of offense. Which team has enough pitching and defense?

Rangers in 6.

Game 1 Wednesday, Oct. 19 St. Louis

Game 2 Thursday, Oct. 20 St. Louis

Game 3 Saturday, Oct. 22 Texas

Game 4 Sunday, Oct. 23 Texas

Game 5 Monday, Oct. 24 Texas

Game 6 Wednesday, Oct. 26 St. Louis

Game 7 Thursday, Oct. 27 St. Louis

Really hoping the clock doesn't strike midnight on the suddenly-solid Cardinals bullpen. Both offenses will show up for the party, but I have a real feeling that pitching will be the story this series.

The bullpen has been used a lot down the stretch and in the playoffs.

Root for the team that knocked your team out or the team that beat your team in the WS the last time they were in it? I guess I'll stay in the AL. Rangers in 6.

Cards have relied on outscoring teams, for the most part, and they're coming up against a team with a better lineup than they have. At this point, I'll take Carp starting on full rest at home against most. The rest of this series could be ugly, though.

That's why winning game six was crucial for the Cards. Not only do they get to give the bullpen two full days of rest (4 days for anyone that didn't pitch last night), but they also got to avoid having to use Carpenter in game 7. That should allow them to slot him in Games 1, 4, and 7 (if necessary), and hopefully he's up for the task for 7+ innings each time.

I'd like to root for the Rangers, since the Cards won a Series recently and the Rangers seem like a likable bunch of guys. But I can't seem to get past the fact that 99% of Rangers fans are also Cowboys fans :X

I like the Rangers to win it but I like the Cards at the books, that looks like the value play.

If it helps any, I don't like the Cowboys.I am the 1%.

http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/ps/y2011/gigapan.jspThese are fun. You can see me in sec 8 row 11 near aisle wearing black hat/red shirt in ALCS gm6. The mrs. is covered by a guy in a white shirt right in front of her. If I could remember my facebook password I'd tag myself.
:hey: Found you.Game 1 of ALDS, zoom in on the 325 mark in right field, scroll up the foul pole (about six rows) until you see me... red shirt, tagged, and bearded.

It does help. I was torn to begin with, but a FFA regular/non-Cowboys fan is as good a tiebreaker as any. Is there any word on the pitching matchups yet? I think I saw a Buster Olney tweet suggesting that the Rangers should start Wilson in Games 2 and 6 because he was a good hitter back in the day, but that seemed like it was just Buster talking out of his ###.

Colbyashi is a solid hitter too.

Arthur Rhodes: “We match up good with [the Rangers]. We have a similar lineup, but I know our bullpen is better than theirs.”

Um, ok Mr. Rhodes.EDIT: I just realized Rhodes gets a ring either way. :bag:

Random thought about the series with a Ranger bias: I am so freakin' glad we don't have to worry about hiding our third best hitter in the outfield during NL games, yes Vlad, I'm looking at you. Removing our DH means we lose our 9th best hitter, either Moreland or YT.

Kind of funny that the Cardinals aren't even given some serious thought.

They were 8.5 games back on September 1 and won the wild card on the last day.

They weren't even supposed to be even close to the Phillies, yet beat them.

They were given no chance against the Brewers, who had the best record at home in baseball, yet beat them.

The Cards are a good team and Pujols is hitting .419 this postseason and David Freese is tearing it up as well.

The Rangers might win, but it won't be a cake walk. But I am going with the Cardinals in 7.

This is the type of thing a team (and its fans) likes to say, but it's not usually that much of an "us against the world" situation in reality."No chance" against the Brewers doesn't sound accurate, and they're not completely discounted here either. One example... SI experts are split, 6-4 in favor of Rangers, with 9 of the 10 expecting a long series.

I'll be rooting for the Rangers this year, in spite of the Bush taint associated with them. I like the Ranger FFA contingent better and I felt kind of bad for them last year.

Looks like Skip Schumaker and Jake Westbrook are IN, Adron Chambers and Kyle McClellan are OUT on the WS roster.

Both teams can thank the Jays to some degree.

Rangers for Napoli.

Cardinals for Zep, Dotel... maybe not so much Patterson and EJackson

Cardinals in 7 games. Should be a great series. Don't know how anyone could pick one of these teams to sweep. It is a pretty even match. Rangers are a little better overall, and Cardinals have home field which hurts the Rangers' lineup in those games.

Im terrible at predictions although Ive never let that stop me before...

I cant see how STL can play with Texas. Ill say Texas in 5

Lack of DH in the NL parks is not going to hurt the Rangers at all.

This is why I like them to win the series. Rangers often have the worst hitter in their line-up as their DH, so there is no real disadvantage having to play in an NL park. If it comes down to bullpens like the LCSs did, Rangers advantage there as well. Both teams can hot a lot though and the Cards do have Chris Carpenter, so they have a shot for sure.

The Cardinals have Allen Craig to DH. He could start for about 28 other teams in the league. It will just come down to who has the best pitching.

I only saw a few Rangers games this postseason. Micheal Young was the DH. What do they do with him in NL parks?

Young will play 1st. Napoli will catch. Moreland, YT and Endy on bench.

That's someone's daughter(s) guy.

So what's the story with Carp's elbow? Is that just something for the talking heads to fill time? Or is it a worry?

If you can't find humor in Nolan Ryan battling snow monkeys, I don't know what to tell you. Just him having the title "Snow Monkey Ambassador" is funny.

:goodposting: 20 of the last 25 have gone to the home field advantage team, throw in 3-2 series odds and I'm on the dog Cards.

This reminds me of what the Rays brought into the ALDS. Those teams were hot in September, but the Rangers were even hotter...Tampa 17-10St Louis 18-8Texas 19-6

There are some unusual betting trends here though.Steam is going to the favorite on the series line. More unusual that team is going to the road team favorite. This may damn well be unprecedented in my recent memory.Road team is dog in game 1 by a good chunk -125 to STL early, now anywhere between -115 to -120. That is an exceptional game to series spread. Steam has been right (I think) in every series so far this post season. I'm having a hard time finding the pre-series odds for Arizona. Warrants mentioning.I'm not quite sure what to make of the betting on this series.

Let's not get carried away.It will be nice to have a DH who isn't a utility IF and slotted into the 8 hole for once, though. Yes, I exaggerate a bit, too. But it seems the Cards never have a good bat to throw into that slot. Certainly not one with power.
