Any talk on potential coach for next year? Looks like Andy Reid will have nothing to do.
Heard Chip Kelly's name, but not sure I see it. Can't see JR bringing in a guy like that. Depending on the new GM, Kyle Shanahan is also a name to monitor.I think you need to see the GM first though.... If the guy from NYG is hired to run the FO (Marc Ross - not Accorsi, obviously), Perry Fewell could be a favorite.

I hope it's not Chip Kelly. Saban and Spurrier in the NFL come to mind. I'd rather see a pro coach.

David Shaw - that'd be interesting.

Honestly, if I thought the guy would stick around, I'd take Sabam in a heartbeat. He put together two powerhouses in college football, and his system is built on a zone-blitzing 3-4 D and running the ball. Look at Pittsburgh, Baltimore, etc. - that system can work in the NFL, and the guy is tireless.

I think he jumped from the Dolphins because Bama came calling, and he couldn't turn it down. If you told me he would stay for the next 5-10 years though, I'd hire him in a heartbeat.

I think this next hire is one of the most interesting ones in the Panthers' history. Over on Cat Scratch Reader, which Panthers fans likely are familiar with, they wrote an article comparing the situations facing Jordan with the Bobcats and Richardson with the Panthers.

Jordan, at a crossroads, turned over the keys to an analytical, numbers crunching, GM in Rich Cho, then stepped back. Cho hires Dunlap from completely off the radar.

Richardson, in my opinion, needs to follow a similar road. No more heavy influence on the football operations. Schmooze with city leaders to get your stadium re-done as you wanted - heck secure a Super Bowl for the Carolinas. Leave the football stuff to an analytical football guy, and let him hire his coach.

That article is nothing more than random speculation. We don't even have a GM yet and have no idea how he'd want to build the staff.

What's the word on Jonathan Stewart tomorrow. Was hoping to start DeAngelo one more week and really hoping they don't bring Stewart back. Don't like to see him questionable all of a sudden.

The only thing that intrigues me about Chip Kelly is the likelihood that he would look to draft/FA sign exceptional offensive talent to go with his offense. Other than that I wouldn't be optimistic that his style would fit well into the NFL.

The Panthers have played well the last month and I don't think any team that is on the playoff bubble would want to play them.

Kuechly team MVP? Tackling machine. That's two pretty good first rounders in a row. Hope that trend continues in April.

I am not sure what the greatest team need is right now. For me it changes weekly. I think a stud OT is a top priority as is a DT and corner. I would gamble that they address the Wideout position early in the draft as well.

OL and DT seem like pretty obvious choices early in the draft (1st and 2nd round). I'd agree with WR too except the Panthers have been notoriously bad at picking WR's over the life of the franchise with the exceptions of Moose and Smith (LaFell is still up in the air on whether he'll be good or not).

The greatest need of this team right now is a freakin' GM!!!!!! I can't believe the spot hasn't been filled. This just gives more credence to the suspicion that good ole' Jerry is pulling the strings and the GM is just a buffer. I'm losing more and more faith in this dude as an owner.

Agreed - I'm pretty disappointed at the timeframe here, although perhaps they're playing it really close to the vest. The whole idea with hiring Accorsi was to be ahead of the curve in the GM search, having a recommended short list to conduct final interviews in short order. While they've requested permission to talk to Ross and Gettleman, I've seen nothing to indicate the meetings have occurred, or are scheduled. They need to get on the stick, especially considering the new GM is likely to want a new coach after that.

I really hope the choice is Ross, as it will signal (to me) that Jerry is getting out of the way, and letting Ross run the show. Gettleman would make me think Jerry is pulling the strings and is way too involved, which could have the Panthers ending up much like the Cowboys for the next decade.

Was listening to a CBS talking head and he made a good point in that talks can't really start until after the season, so that calms me a bit, but then I wonder what the point was in firing Herney when they did...what was the point? I have lost just about all faith in the ownership of this organization. Rivera was asked, point blank, what he knew and he basically said he hand't been told anything. He could have been lying I suppose, but given Jerry's history, I don't think he was.

Ron Rivera is staying. I can't wait to see how well the team plays next December, after they start 2-10.

I'm sorry, but when you are 2-12 in games decided by a touchdown or less, you don't deserve to keep your job.

Wait til Jerry shoots the lock off the pocketbook to pay the dude from the CFL boatloads!!! :excited:

Um....yeah....let's fire the linebackers coach...that's it!! That's only the best part of the entire defense. Clearly that dude needs to go!!!! :unsure:I'd love to be a fly on the wall of BOA stadium :loco:
