When you read about this situation, there is all kind of speculation, but most amusing to me is how "solid" Jon Jay is depicted as being. I mean, he's fine I guess, but if you have Vlad Guererro II in your farm system, I doubt Jon Jay is as solid anymore.

Plus, this is Beltran's last year with the team. Jay is in the long-term plans. There is no question Taveras will be the starting RF in 2014 barring something drastic happening, so they are just trying to massage the situation for one season. Probably not a bad problem to have given Beltran's health concerns.
