He's not being blind. He's taking up for his own guy. I got no problem with it. That's a lot more than I can say for Marshall or Kromer.Robbie, you've been a nice kicker here, but ####. Talk about being blind to the situation. Highest paid player in the league this year, so yeah, he is the guy to blame. No leadership ability at the position where it's supposed to come from. There's not a good thing to say about Cutler if we're being perfectly honest.I feel really bad for Jay, Gould said. When youre having a tough season like this, hes not the guy to be the scapegoat or the guy to blame. Therere a lot of guys you can put that blame on.
You could bench the whole team. Its not like anybodys really played fantastic or great. Were 5-10 now. Its not like Jays the problem. Jays not the issue. I hope hes back next year for us.
I noticed that too. It got me to thinking. I don't believe I have heard Singletary's name come up as a possible head coach candidate since he left the Niners. In his last season with the Niners Singletary was 6-10. When he was hired, Harbaugh took almost that same roster the following year and went 13-3. I thought Singletary was a disaster as a head coach.Top 10 Head Coaching candidates:

Interesting that they have Singletary as an honorable mention.
Anyone with an ego. It would be easier, IMO, to find someone for that kind of situation than to find someone who would buy into this dysfunctional organization as it is now.I just can't see them getting rid of all the coaches, the GM, and the qb. What coach would want to come here with nothing in place?
Definitely time for Phillips to go.Florio with some speculation that it could get gutted up to Phillips.

You look for stability if you have something good going that you want to keep rolling. Trestman has demonstrated that he really is overmatched as a head coach, so you don't want stability with him. Emery has made some good moves, but the two biggest decisions he had to make in the last three years he blew badly. He hired Trestman, and he signed Cutler to a big contract. So do you really want to keep him around to screw up the signing of the next coach? And we know who Cutler is. He is a bad attitude, turnover machine, who will continue to kill whatever team he plays for. Is that really the type of stability that helps the team?I think you have to keep one of the 3 for a little stability.Anyone with an ego. Why? What possible good could come from Cutler having a good showing tomorrow? If Cutler remains the Bears QB next year the team is setting themselves back a couple of years. The Bears will never win with Cutler. We all know that. So anything that makes it more likely that Cutler will remain the Bears QB is detrimental to the team long term in my opinion. If they hold on to Cutler they won't be looking for the quarterback of the future. That sets them back.Would love to see Cutty light it tomorrow
You make it sound like Cutler has ruined the entire team. I don't think it's that simple or easy to replace him. Elite qbs don't grow on trees. Look at the history of qbs who were drafted and failed. It's astounding. I'm far from a Cutler apologist and I understand what he is but the defensive problems are far more pronounced IMO. the defense is completely devoid of talent, except for a couple of the lineman and possibly Fuller. Now Young will likely be out into next season. Ferguson and Sutton are unproven. Houston was terrible, yet I don't hear anyone complaining about that. Allen started coming on and can still make a difference, though. The secondary is a disaster. There's no excuse for that. That's why Emery has to go. Trestman is obviously gone. I'm on the fence with Cutler. Even if they do want him gone, they have to find suitors. They can't cut him outright. I'm not even sure about Phillips. What do his responsibilities consist of?Why? It's ironic that you like to pile on anyone who has anything good to say about the guy when you dislike him no matter what he does. It's odd that you have no awareness of it.HybristophiliaWhy?Would love to see Cutty light it tomorrow
Brad Biggs wrote a column in the Chicago Tribune a couple of weeks ago. He had interviewed the agents for a couple of the top head coaching candidates. In both cases those guys had no interest in the Bears job if Cutler was in place. I think any coach would rather have a less talented guy who runs the offense the way it was designed, rather than a more talented player who freelances and turns the ball over. No question that if the Bears move on from Cutler the guy they will have playing QB will either be less talented than Cutler, or a rookie. But the Bears aren't going to the playoffs with or without Cutler. The longer you wait in replacing Cutler the longer until the Bears are actually a serious contender.A good head coach would rather work with Cutler than nothing at all. Look, I've been as critical of this entire organization as anyone but I just can't seeing firing everyone from the president to the qb will work. Maybe I'm wrong but I think that's asking a lot.
I have actually been in Cutler's corner for a long time. I think the Kromer incident changed my mind. Kromer said Cutler was killing the team by not changing out of bad running plays. So either Cutler wasn't reading the defensive keys to know to audible out of a bad running play, or he was simply refusing to do it. From watching him play I have suspected he doesn't read defenses very well. You see him consistently miss an open receiver underneath while throwing to a deep receiver in triple coverage. And regularly in doing that he throws interceptions. He just doesn't get it, and he never will. You make it sound like Cutler has ruined the entire team. same thing he did with kosarWhat do you think Belichick would do with Cutler?

That is what should happen. However, I think Phillips, Emery, and Cutler will stay. At least they will probably get rid of Trestman and the entire staff. The Bears are just far too cheap to eat all those contracts. Should be an interesting Monday at Halas Hall.RBM said:So we're going to need a new president, GM, HC and staff, QB.
Should be a fun off season.
Yeah. So how does this work?
8AM - Trestman fires Culter
9AM - Emery fires Trestman
10AM - Phillips fires Emery
11AM - McCaskey fires Phillips
12PM - McCaskey's fire themselves
1PM - Janitor holds a press conference.
If only we could get rid of the McCaskeys.Yeah. So how does this work?
8AM - Trestman fires Culter
9AM - Emery fires Trestman

I really wish that is what we would hear tomorrow. But that would be a McCaskey taking responsibility and making a sensible football decision, which makes it highly unlikely.
Awesome. Very sad and frustrating that it won't happen this way.
need to sign in to read it, what's the gist of it?
I decided to start up the new thread, lets kill this season right here...Bears have fired HC Phil Emery.
