That was bizarre. Guy clearly foul tipped it and they called it a ball?

Didn't matter because he flies out but really weird.
there was another moment earlier where the hitter missed the pitch and they called it a foul tip
Guess it just happens but weird in an NLCS.
i’m not sure i’ve ever seen either happen before to be honest
Yea me neither but I don't watch all the games.

I said it in the Phillies thread before the series started that the Phils would win in 6. I put my money where my mouth is and placed a bet on Phils in 6 and another on Phils in 5. This Padres lineup is just not scary at all. Soto has been a shell of himself in SD and Machado is the only huge threat in that lineup. Furthermore the Phils bats are hot and I’ll take their 1,2 over the Padres 1,2 with the way they’re pitching. I’m likely not going to be as confident in the World Series but this game is playing out exactly how I painted it in my head.

low scoring with the phillies winning off pitching and defense? good luck with that but the phillies strength is out scoring and not tight games

With Wheeler and Nola on the mound, they don’t have to mash. Those 2 dudes are hotter than they’ve been all year. 2 aces with that lineup? Good luck to anyone beating them. Baseball playoffs is usually about who is hot at the right time.

I hope you're right. I have some large payouts tied to to a Phils WS win. Hedged some last night on SD after Phils won game one, and if they win the series I'll have to hedge on the AL champ as well. But I'll save the big win for if Philly somehow pulls it out.

I can’t believe the Padres were favored today. I placed a nice bet on that. Snell vs Nola - easy money.

That's about it. Yea one inning to go but Padres got the offense this game. We get 3 in Philly though. Should at least be up 3-2 with Nola going in game 6 again.

Starting to think the Yankees don’t regret the Bader for Montgomery trade anymore.

Also, Judge is a much better fielder than most people think. Dude covers a lot of ground really quick.

I’m really enjoying this Phillies and Padres series. Two really fun teams. Will definitely root for the winner in the World Series.

Looking at Nola's game logs this year, every single time he's thrown a clunker he's been completely dominant the following start. But yes they do need to win 2 out of the next 3. Game 3 should be a good battle between Musgrove and Suarez. I was wondering why SD would throw Snell over Musgrove in Game 2 but now I realize that Snell's home/away split is significant. Smart move.

Great story, congrats.

I understand the reasoning but I hate the 2-3-2 - i like the 2-2-1-1-1
Totally agree. No 7 game series shoudl be 2-3-2. It gives an advantage to the team with 3 at home in the middle. Never have to go back if you can split and take care of business at home.

Although for any sport for this to make some sense is baseball since you don't want any off days to make it more like the regular season with home and home series. The 2-3-2 is the best simulation of that.

And that’s probably why they do it. Baseball season is long enough. I’m glad the playoffs are fairly continual. I think it worked out in the Pads/Phils series given you have an East coast team playing a West coast team.
