***Official 2025 Tour de France*** - Come Dope with Us! This Year Prizes!!! (3 Viewers)

Rough first day. But I’m stage hunting and definitely picked with the TTs and GC in mind. We shall see
I struggled between Vauquelin and Girmay. At least on day 1 I made the wrong choice, though I was impressed to see Vauquelin get some points, as he's a GC/climber guy. Really like Girmay and like to cheer for him, so sucks I had to leave him off.

Oh, and I'm stunned that my dog crap sprinting team (in all fairness I knew that I wouldn't have a great sprinting team) that didn't even have Milan up challenging for the day finished third today. Got a smattering of points from a bunch of folks. 6/9 of mine scored, which seems good to me.

I like bini too. But he’s on my no fly list. He utterly screwed me the last 2 years. I was an early adopter but then dropped him before the tdf last year.

Mas is another one. No mas!

I only pick them in their off rotation tours. I'm really good at that.

I you had selected that dog turd Alliphippe you would have had a 3rd score.

There were 18 individual riders who outscored my entire team

rain, cross winds, classic hills on the end to weed out the sprinters - should be an awesome day of chaos, carnage & anarchy

All right. 35 mile ride done including the local HC monster (Bham style) and now home watching these guys slog through cold rain. I think I got the better deal with the 92F sun.
Where are you riding in Birmingham? I despise traffic so I typically ride out at Oak Mountain.

Today's ride: https://www.strava.com/activities/15029806930

Mostly on Lakeshore trail, then Smyer (which is very low traffic), back roads around Shades Crest, etc. Luckily the gate was still up at the base of Smyer from the Firefighter World games. Otherwise have to go up through the hospital. Oak Mountain is good if you're on that side of town.

Now that the Lakeshore trail has been extended we got 9.5 miles out and back if we went to the end of the shopping center (which is pretty much deserted).

We live off South Shades Crest so not far away at all. I have not been on the Lakeshore trail since they re-worked it, and didn't think about riding to Brookwood. Great ride!

Speaking of South Shades Crest a guy I work with sold the house recently that was just the site of that massive raid for bombs/whatever else that dude was hiding away. He moved right across the street (to another house he owns) from that nutball.

Just finished the stage. Totally entertaining. Great last 10 miles. And evidently we're all in the upside down if I'm in front. :lmao:

Right now my guys are 1-2-4-5-6 on GC. That's hysterical.

Pipped Cheesy for the win today. Gotta get my digs in when I can here. :clyde:

i think i can back into this if my guys can check their Physiological Conditioning and improve the Power-to-Weight Ratio (W/kg)
• Key for mountain stages and overall climbing efficiency.
• Elite GC (General Classification) contenders maintain:
• 5.8–6.2 W/kg at threshold (~60 minutes) during critical climbs.
• >6.5 W/kg over 20-minute climbs during attacks.
• Must optimize:
• Functional Threshold Power (FTP)
• VO₂max (>85 mL/kg/min in elite riders)
• Lactate clearance rate

b. Energy System Development
• Aerobic endurance: Mitochondrial density, capillarization.
• Anaerobic reserve: Short-term efforts (for breakaways or catching).
• Fat oxidation capacity: To spare glycogen stores in long stages.

2. Aerodynamic and Mechanical Efficiency

a. Aerodynamics
• Drag coefficient (CdA) < 0.21 m² for time trials.
• Position optimization via wind tunnel and CFD (computational fluid dynamics).
• Equipment selection:
• Deep-section wheels
• Aero helmets
• Skinsuits with boundary-layer manipulation

b. Bike Setup and Mechanics
• Weight limit: UCI minimum 6.8 kg, optimized with carbon layups.
• Gear ratios adapted to course profile.
• Constant power meter telemetry for pacing strategy.
• Tire rolling resistance: ~10–12W savings with optimal tubeless systems at tuned PSI.

3. Nutritional Periodization and In-Race Fueling

a. Glycogen Repletion
• Supercompensation strategies pre-race.
• CHO intake >90g/hour during stages (glucose + fructose ratio of 2:1).

b. Hydration and Electrolyte Balance
• Real-time sodium and fluid loss monitoring via sweat analysis.
• On-bike intake tailored via predictive models of sweat rate and ambient conditions.

I may need to take notes, I just tell me guys to pedal faster and tell their legs to shut up.
