As many times as I have seen my Astros come back from the dead, I never imagined we would have a contending '09 Zombie squad.
But here we are, coming out of the All-Star Break 3 games out of first, then splitting a four game set in LA before coming home and sweeping the 1st place Cards.
I don't know how or why it is happening.
Sure, Roy O is doing his annual second half charge and Wandy is becoming a solid #1 guy. But after them, we have 3 #5s at best. Ortiz? Hampton? Mohler? Yet the club has 17 Quality starts in the last 22 games.
The upcoming schedule is brutal and a quick slide to mediocrity or worse is a distinct possibility.
No way they can afford to bring in any major talent this year and the farm is still pretty barren.
But in the last decade, no team has done a better job of accomplishing the improbable and charging toward October from the All-Star break.
I'm not say I believe yet, but I find that I am hoping again for the first time this year.
