****OFFICIAL**** Astros / White Sox WS Thread (1 Viewer)

And good for Jermaine Dye...Way to come back from that awful leg injury a couple of years ago...Hard to believe he was a 22 year old rookie on that 1996 Braves team...

Booyakasha!!!

:pickle:

How about Dye being names MVP? From castoff to MVP!

Konerko has to be re-signed
Any number of guys could have been MVP: Pods, Konerko, Buerhle, Crede, and Uribe (for his defensive efforts).I never thought Dye had a chance. I would have split it between Buerhle and Crede.

The last road game the White Sox lost was on Sept. 27th. One day short of a month...

Reinsdorf is a pretty class act.He had six busloads of employees from US Cellular Field, (concession workers, ushers, etc. etc.) down for all the World Series games at Houston.

Dye ended up hitting .438 with a .500 OBP with a homer and three ribbies...He had the tone setting first hit of the series when he took Rocket deep in Game 1...He had a great AB against Oswalt in the 5th inning yesterday, singling to drive in the White Sox' 3rd run...And he had the series wining RBI tonight...Well deserved MVP...

Yep, that was a great AB against Oswalt last night.

Congrats to the White Sox and their fans. Why in the world did Garner have Ensberg in the lineup and batting cleanup, and why didn't he pinch hit for him?

White Sox are the 2005 World Series Champions! I'm sure that's been said several times above, but I just can't believe it still, and it's such a great feeling!

i'm sure everyone from 33rd and sout of the trax are still dancing in da streets including da mayor, richie go back to bridgeport and make da neighborhood home again. Here's your chance.for all the non believers around here that mocked us when we went the first 37 games with always having a lead. :banned: And when we said first to 10,20,30,....wins. :banned: And when we talked about securing homefield advantage at the Allstar game with Buerhle :banned: You came back at us and said all that means nothing show us what you got in OCTOBER. Well we show you complete domination :excited:

Congrats Chicago! The sweep cost me money, but I'll let it slide. Now quit your b******g about baseball.I know I'll see it somewhere soon, so:Can you believe that Boston and Chicago have more World Series Titles this century then the Yankees!?!?! :wall:

I can't believe they actually gave an out away like that in the 9th inning. Nobody else finds that to be unbelievably stupid?
I don't know as much about baseball as many of you, but I found that very puzzling. If they were tied, I can see that - but down 1-0 with just a man on 1st, I don't understand it.

Congrats Chicago. I'm sorry the Astros couldn't make the series a bit more exciting for you. Here's my suggestion for the Astros in the off season: Get Kent back or go after a player like Edmunds or Konerko and cut Wandy, Vizcaino, Palmeiro and Taveras to free up some budget. I think that's the recipe for success.

That's kind of like the discussion we're having here around the office. All of the pitchers played big, so singling out any one of them is to slight the rest. Crede played well, arguably over his head. Scott P, Konerko and AJ all played well throughout the series, coming up big as they did all year. Dye had a great series, for him, and hit the game winner which put us ahead.... It's tough. Very a propos to this year's team, a well rounded effort.

Yeah, but what have the White Sox done LATELY!Dye was a decent MVP choice....three separate times (off the top of my head) was in a significant position and had fantastic at-bats. He was the Bernie Williams of the Sox. Patient, experienced, and clutch. I'm surprised, really.Crede was the Jeter.....and probably didn't get enough credit.

Every player in the majors would have done the same thing but he CHEATED.  What he did was completely dishonest.  It wasnt a play open to interpretation.  He knows whether he got hit or not.  He knows the ball hit his bat.  I'm not saying any other player would have done anything different, but he cheated.  He took advantage of a buffoon of an umpire.
The umpire instructed him to take first base. How is that cheating?
So Dye generally gets sent to 1st base for a foul ball?
Generally? No, just in this particular instance where the ump made a bad call. Last time I checked players do what the umps tell them to do.
He didnt think that was strange.  "Hey, I was just doing what the umpire told me to.  I didnt know what was going on out there."  He KNEW the ball didnt hit him.
Who cares what he knew, it wasn't up to Dye to take another pitch or go to first base. When did the rules change in baseball? Maybe Dye will get called out on strikes tonight, but decide to take first base anyway because he KNEW it was ball four.
Maybe Dye can be a good sport and ask the ump to allow up to 2 strikes for one at bat. Meaning, if the count is 1-1 and he misses the next pitch he will be out. That will show what a good sport he is for Patriot Pat.
LOVE the  in here. LOVE it.I wonder where the whiners from Houston are now that they got a "fake" homerun, Dye got hit by a pitch but DIDN'T get first base, and had their LOCK give up 5 runs in the worst inning of his career?
Pat Patriot is not from Houston. As far as I can tell, the only posters from Houston who have made an appearance here are Keys and me, and I don't think either of us have done any whining.Last night was a great game. Once again, calls were blown, and those blown calls favored Houston. You are absolutely correct that Houston had tons of opportunities with men in scoring position late in the game. But the Astros average with RISP has sucked this post-season and it sucked again last night. They had every opportunity to win this game and failed to take advantage of those opportunities.

Despite the 3-0 lead, it's been a very competitive series. The last two games have been incredible, notwithstanding the Astros losing. Let's hope Bakke can pitch as well tonight as he yammers during the game.
Pat is whining for Houston, I don't really care where he's from.Great beisbol games, all. As a non-aligned beisbol fan, I love these games. I guess I'm rooting for Chicago, merely to eliminate the next oldest streak.

That 5th inning was incredible for Chicago....great sequences, all.

BTW, I don't care what logic says, I think Oswalt threw at him.
I wasnt whining for Houston or anyone else. I was whining about getting dicked out of a bet on Houston. Well I bet, I like to assume a certain level of competence among the officials. The problem is I dont bet baseball as much as football so sometimes I forget what buffoons most Major League Umpires can be. I was railing about how ridiculous it is that that umpire thought the ball hit Dye.

That hit Tavarez's bat! ;)
See how he took his hand off the bat handle and shook it and the trainer came out and sprayed cold spray on it. That is how you act if you have been hit. The White Sox hitters should learn that. I hope you TIVOd the game. Send the tape to the White Sox they can replay it in spring training.

Pretty convincing acting job. He can be an NFL punter. I was just joking Pat Patriot... Sorry about the whoopin' the Bears put on your Patriots in their first Super Bowl. No wonder why you're so bitter towards me. ;)

:lmao: :lmao: Nice one. Had to go pretty far back for that one. Luckily for me I sliced a finger open slamming a beer mug against a brick wall so I didnt have to watch the 2nd half as I spent it in a Hospital being stitched up.Luckily, actually attending each of the next 4 Patriots Super Bowl appearances (winning 3 of them) has more than made up for that 1 loss to Chicago.

What is the current tally? Patriots 3 Bears 1?

Pat, could you please remind the readers of this here message board how many Super Bowl rings Bill Belichick has, and how many Bill Parcells has?Also... how many has Big Tuna won without Belichick? Can you say THE MOST OVERRATED NFL HEAD COACH going?

Sorry to pour cold water on the celebration, but the Cubs will be much better than the Sox in 2006.Bye Bye Konerko, hope the New York Press treats you well.

I dont believe either guy is overrated. Parcell took 3 different QB's to the Bowl, Belichick has only gone with 1. How can you say that Parcell's success is tied to Belichick any more than Belichick's success is tied to Tom Brady?
