****Official Baltimore Ravens v New York Jets game thread**** (1 Viewer)

As a Ravens' homer, I can't wait for this game! What doesn't it have? Both squads are up-and-coming, the trash talk between the teams has apexed this week, both are hard-hard-hard hitting no-nonsense teams,

While the Ravens have key members, Gaither-Webb-Cody, targetting week 2 against Cincy as the comeback week; they bring plentiful additions to the table: Housh, Boldin, Dickson, Pitta, Wilson, McCann. Reed, Kindle and Stalworth won't be back until after week six but the Ravens still bring a lot to the table.

The Jets are without speedster Holmes and Pace but do get Revis back. They've added LT who could make a big splash in this match-up along with superdaddy Cromartie and all the former trash-talking Ravens.

I say the Ravens would be much better off with Cody but they still shut down the Jets rushing attack. I like Baltimore's ability to move the ball offensively. Ravens 34 Jets 9. Rice combines for 100+ and a TD, Mason 70 and a TD, Heap 40 and a TD, Flacco 270 and 2 TDs, Ravens score one on D as well. LT does the damage against the Ravens with 90 combined. Sanchez throws for right around 200, SGreen for 60 or so.

This game feels much closer than 34-9 to me. Still, since they're more of a short passing and dump-off offense, the Ravens present a difficult matchup for the Jets and their blitzing. Furthermore, Sanchez is one of the least likely QBs on their schedule to take full advantage of the Ratbirds depleted secondary.

But if the Jets hit a couple of big plays and pick Flacco once or twice, they can win this thing.

I like your enthusiasm but I don't think you are giving the #1 ranked defense of last year much respect.

:goodposting: 34-9 is a little further out on a limb than I'm willing to go. I'm worried about Flacco under pressure & I don't think the Ravens will run for a ton of yards. Sanchez doesn't seem to instill fear, but the Ravens made Kellen friggin' Clemmons look like Johnny Unitas a couple of years ago. It's a cliche, but this is the perfect "whoever wins the turnover battle wins the game" matchup IMO.

It is quite an optimistic prediction, that I will admit. The Jets did give up 30 to the Dolphins twice last year, the Pats and Indy in the playoffs. Certainly not to say that Flacco can carry Peyton's jock at this point in his career, just that the Jets did give up pts. The Ravens built-on-the-fly secondary will perform just fine, Webb is probable with Wilson, Washington, Zibby, Nakamura, Carr they'll hold up. Nakamura and Zibby are playmakers, maybe a bit undersized but playmakers none the less. My biggest concern going into the game for Bmore WAS their Oline. I feel much better hearing that Yanda will move from guard to Rtackle and Chester will step in at Guard, that's a solid group of starters with Gaither out. Not sure if Cousins will rotate in or not. Suggs will be a key for the Ravens D, keep an eye on him tonite...Again, it's a homer (very optimistic) prediction but I like the Ravens tonite.
