"OFFICIAL" Colts vs. Cowboys thread... (1 Viewer)

Wish they were showing the Detroit Cinci game but it should be replayed on NFL netowok later.

Rudi has 32 yards on 5 carries. No catches for Calvin. Palmer benched after 1st drive. Kitna also taken out. That was quick.

After 1 drive ... take it for what its worth ...

Cowboys offense:

1) looks like JJ between the 20's, MB3 on short yards and goaline - both succesful up the middle (no surprise, its the Colts), not so much outside.

2) Romo only had one downfield attempt - overthrown, looked decisive and accurate on all other attempts, but was hurried on the long throw.

3) Great job by the patched up line, only one pressure and that may have even been a Colts blitz (pressure was Brock and Morris)

Colts defense:

1) looks like same old Colts, bend but don't break unless you run up the gut.

2) corners looked great, good tackling/coverage/run defense - no worries about losses Harper, etc

3) projected rookie replacement for Booger, Ed Johnson, had a nice stop for no gain on short yardage, but was blown off the ball on the next play.

After 2nd drive ... again, take it for what its worth ...

Colts offense:

1) Manning to Harrison has yet to be stopped, no surprise

2) only one pressure from Peyton's blind side, good news re: Tony Ugoh - especially against Cowboys

3) Addai is getting the rock, 1 pass 2 rush, but appeared to be limited by crappy blocking - bad news re: Tony Ugoh

Cowboys defense:

1) run defense looked stout, but may have been Colts line problems

2) Harrison torched the seconday, but its Harrison

3) small sample size, but holding Colts to 3 points when they start on their 40 is pretty good

Who did Manning throw the TD to? How does Addai look? Is Witten involved at all?
Overthrew Wayne for the TD, Colts got a FG (ETA: defender made a nice play, or ball prolly would've been caught)Addai looked good, if you consider getting back to line of scrimmage with defenders in the backfieldWitten caught a pass on a play-action naked bootleg type play - worked against the Colts, but that doesn't mean anything --- went for a first down, 11 yards on 3rd and 6 I believe

posts with actual analysis/opinions are refreshing and well worth reading, keep it coming, thx  All I got is radio

Witten must be sitting b/c Fasano has 3 catches this drive.

Also, no JJ this drive.

Barber looks so unsure of himself out there. I thought Barber was highly overrated going into this game (being he is not even a starter)....now I believe he may possibly the most overrated RB in fantasy this year...hands down.

notes from 3rd drive:

1) refs are still calling contact with QB closely

2) alot of second unit players in on both sides, MB3 in exclusively and struggling mightly

3) Romo looks good still, accurate on some longer throws - all to Fasano, not sure if Witten is in

--doesn't look like Witten is in, but Romo and Fasano definately have something good going -- Romo went to him accurately

on a 10 yard pass with the blitz in his face

4) let me repeat, Barber looks absolutely average - and this is against the Colts w/ 2nd stringers in on both D-line and LB's

5) great play continues by Marlin Jackson, not so much on the otherside (see above re: Fasano)

6) Colts D overall isn't any worse than last year (regular season), and have definite potential to suceed in the bend-don't-break Tampa-2 style

+Fasano

-Barber

+Marlin Jackson

lol - GB the pre-season overreactionsJJ is done for the game they said on the radio FWIW

note for people in leagues using PR/KR:

judging by last years performance (see playoffs mostly) and the 2 attempts thus far, TJ Rushing (Colts) looks really good

I know it's the Colts D, but Romo is showing some nice poise. Could be a definte value after the main guys are gone.

(was laughed at in a yahoo (practice) draft when I drafted Romo as my starter, looks like I may have the last laugh)

Agree on Barber. To much dancing and moving side line to side line instead of straight ahead.

i've thought Barber has been overrated for awhile...i don't believe i've ever owned him in a redraft league...i initially liked him quite a bit coming out of college, but i swear he's changed his style since then...i remember him making people miss more in college, but he seems he just wants to run over people in the pros & he's not big enough to consistently get away with that...don't get me wrong, he's a decent RB, but one i feel will never be good enough to be a successful full-time starter...not real big on JJ, either, tho

from Colts 2nd drive:

all 2nd string - DeDe Dorsey is #1 backup as expected

nice unblocked blitz by Anthony Spencer (Cowboys 1st rd rookie), but can be attributed to play calling on both sides more than anything

Sorgi had a nice rush evasion / long 3rd down pickup on reception to Fletcher --- Fletcher looks good,

and looked very good in limited time last year (before he was hurt) -- Colts used to love to run two TE's, Fletcher may eat into Clark this year

Dorsey catches a pass about 6 yards past line of scrimmage in traffic, nice catch

LOTS of pressure by Cowboys D - blitzes, so I would say +Boys D as opposed to -Colts O-line

Cowboys stuffed Colts on 4-1, stuffed DeDe Dorsey

I definately agree with this. While the Colts weren't brining any pressure at all, theirsecondary seemed to be playing better than average. So +Romo when there's no pressure

6) Colts D overall isn't any worse than last year (regular season),
Is that possible?
Well, technically they did lose a bunch of starters (Harper, June, Booger, etc) - and that doesn't appear to have affected them at all.
Exactly my point. An amazing and improbable playoff run notwithstanding, their D sucked badly (again) last year. IMO the only serious loss of the starters was Harper.

more notes:

1) all 2nd string or deeper on both sides now

2) Barber still looks undecisive, too dancey, pedestrian, whatever ... in short, he looks like poop

3) Cowboys first and second line (which I imagine will be mixed all season long) has held up very, very well against the Colts 1st/2nd string D

Stats finally up on NFL.com.

No catches for Witten but 3 for Fasano.

JJ only 2 rushes

Barber - 7 rushes for 16 yds

Manning 0 for 2

Addai - rush for 4 yds

Are these right??
