Don Lemon's show just ran a 2008 videotaped interview with Trump calling Bill Clinton's impeachment unfair, that Clinton's personal life had nothing to do with his presidency.

One thing Trump was right about.  If he ran as a moderate voice, someone with common sense and a willingness to address the average American. he'd be way out in front.  He's the biggest flip-flopper we've ever seen though, which I can't really understand.  Strategic thinking should be a cornerstone of the Trump persona, but he lives in a fantasy world that few can relate to.

I'm thinking Paul Ryan might be able to be a legitimate GOP nominee who has the pedigree and common sense, because 2020 is about the most attainable election since 1980.

USA Today has never endorsed a candidate in history - until now:  says "Don't Vote for Trump".

The editorial board unanimously found Trump "unfit for the presidency" and the editorial, published Thursday, goes on to list the reasons why, among them: his "erratic" behavior and his "checkered" business past.

"Whatever you do, however, resist the siren song of a dangerous demagogue. By all means vote, just not for Donald Trump."
Obviously the lifers are dug in, but all these cumulative body shots may take their toll eventually with the undecideds.

Disregard.  I swallowed the hook.

I don't see why this is that much of a surprise.

I don't see why this is that much of a surprise.
It is because this is a very winnable election and Trump has a public image of a successful person.  That perception is incorrect, but at least half the population is easily swayed and he's not taken the high ground in any battle.  He could just stop being himself and he'd probably win, but he can't do it because of his ego.  This is ok if you're govt bureaucrat Dr Detroit, not giving a #### what people think of me, only concerned with results and efficiency.  But I'm not a politician, neither are you or almost anyone who posts here.  It's a game, and Trump has proved he's adept at games over the course of time.  So yeah, I don't get it.

I screwed up Bob, that particular tweet came from a fake account embedded in a real Trump twitter string.  Sorry for the confusion.

The whole interview appeared to be a criticism of the GOP.  In addition to characterizing Clinton's impeachment as a witch hunt, he criticized the GWB administration for misleading the American public over WMDs.

GOP's floor here isn't that far down.  They're going to keep control of the House and Senate, and the midterm backlash against Hillary should help them defend a lot of Senate seats and win some gubernatorial races.  If Hillary wins they lose control of the Supreme Court, but that should have already happened this summer so NBD.  2020 should be a cakewalk against Hillary running for re-election, and there's got to be some benefit from having a sea of red in a census year.

Not sure they keep control of the Senate. It looks that way now, but it's very much in the air.

Agree with Tim, I think the Senate might lean to the left come January.

The House is among the most dysfunctional bodies of government, right up there with the TSA and Housing and Urban Development.  You could have a 80% majority there and nothing would ever get done, it's the anvil of government.  As someone who works fairly closely with politicians, I can assure you these ######s have no interest in what is best for America.  The Senate, I respect mostly. The House can eat a ####.

The guy's early stump speeches consisted of him talking about his wealth, his crap products, himself and building a wall. He did speeches in front of a table full of steaks, vodka, and Trump magazine   I'm not surprised in the least he can't put his ego aside. Guy is just a complete boorish creep.

Why people lapped this act up, how we got here, and how it is this close is a mystery to me even with a mediocre candidate in Hillary. Mind numbing.

Yeah, exactly.  We are in agreement here, the approach has been chaotically hilarious.  He could have been Trump and come off as reasonable IMO, but that ship has sailed.  I'm a HUGE WJC supporter, but I don't love Hillary at all.  She's a bright woman but she's not very likable, she's the mom in the neighborhood all the kids hate.  I could have easily come up with a better approach to defeat her, as could most people holding a high school diploma (or GED, squisy>hi)

Agreed and personally am really glad Trump can't put up the act for more than a few days. His buttons are so easy to push that it's hard to believe it's not an act - it definitely is not.

I don't dislike Hillary, don't really like her either, but I do think she is good under pressure and think she could be effective.

See instead of posting a bunch of Twitter quotes from people who really don't matter, I have my own thoughts.  Interesting internet concept no?  I prefer not to drone on as a drone, too bad others can't appreciate this idea.  The FFA is designed to have a central theme and a grasp of information available to the public.  Read it, absorb it, state your opinion.  Then you have the mindless drones like DFS Guy and Squisisisissisiition who can't grasp these concepts, and troll their way to obscurity.  The lunatic fringe shall not rule here, it should be a place for spirited discussion without the distraction of mouth-breathers.

That Real Denald handle is pretty funny. Wit is the soul of truth.
Yeah,  that handle knows how to hook folks.  Very smart.  Read through the rest of the twitter string and you'll notice a few people reeled in in a matter of minutes.  If you can't laugh at being caught then you might be too up tight about life.

Actually they couldn't find an issue of Trump magazine, so he held up some brochure for one of his hotels and said "look this is Trump magazine it's great".  That's how little he thinks of his supporters.  Not only was he not holding an issue of Trump Magazine when he was saying look at this issue of Trump magazine, he wasn't even holding a MAGAZINE.  He may as well have been holding a burrito.

I believe this was the same interview where, forgive me because I don't remember the specifics, he said something like "I own 100% of that company.  I'm not a part owner or just licensing my name or anything, I own 100% of it myself, go ahead, look it up, believe me".  And then when you go to the website for that company it very explicitly says that Trump has no ownership stake in the company and it is just licensing his name.

Says the guy who has never developed an original thought.  Shocking.
Not true. I expressed an original thought yesterday about the discussion in this thread, which some guy responded to rather incoherently. Perhaps English is not his first language or he had been drinking (possibly both). In any event it was some gibberish that I had "falsely accused the exact wrong guy", which was very confusing because I didn't know there were degrees of wrong guys, and where the exact wrong guy (versus the non-exact guy or somewhat exact wrong guy) fell along the continuum.

You know how some are saying Trump might get those "curtains are closed, #### it" votes? Here's a better "curtains are closed no one will know" idea. When the curtain closes, vote for Hillary. This is the only way your fantasies of a great Trump America will survive. If he wins it all goes away.

What's more, if Hillary wins you get to keep your fantasy alive for ever and ever. You can keep the attacks on her going all while gloating that if you had your way and Trump won this country would be great again. But noooooooooo. The stupid libs keep mucking it up.

This is the best way. You keep your egos and fantasies, the world keeps it's sanity. So when that curtain closes do what is best for you and the country. Vote for Hillary.

Eta: damnit. The middle got deleted there...

Eta2: grrrrr...  Stupid phone.

He stole his Twitter keys back overnight.

Anytime you see a story about me or my campaign saying "sources said," DO NOT believe it. There are no sources, they are just made up lies!

Wow, Crooked Hillary was duped and used by my worst Miss U. Hillary floated her as an "angel" without checking her past, which is terrible!

Using Alicia M in the debate as a paragon of virtue just shows that Crooked Hillary suffers from BAD JUDGEMENT! Hillary was set up by a con.

Did Crooked Hillary help disgusting (check out sex tape and past) Alicia M become a U.S. citizen so she could use her in the debate?

Has a Presidential Candidate ever encouraged people to check out a sex tape before? That has to be a first.
Tweets were sent at 3:20 AM, 5:14 AM, 5:19 AM and 5:30 AM.  What. The.  ####.

I've known some sleazy characters in my day, and I can barely come up with a scenario where one of them would be publicly trashing women online at 3:30 AM-5:30 AM on a Thursday night/Friday morning.  Maybe the ones who had serious coke problems, when they were hitting rock bottom. But even they would usually have the wherewithal to air it out in private via email or messaging or something. I've been watching the guy closely for a year now and I can't come up with a plausible explanation for this.

These irresponsible people needed the Obama voters, and they need the Clinton voters, so they can continue to live in their little fantasy bubble where we should go back to the 50s again.

Meanwhile progress and responsibility will drag these uneducated, irrational voters along while they kick and scream complaining, pretending about how it "used to be great". Not getting an education for themselves of course, that would take personal accountability.

Face it, they're hoping the responsible people come out and do the right thing, so they can cling to their moral indignation and continue to have nothing "be their fault".

It really is amazing in so many different ways. Not the least of which: he tones it down and gains significant ground after the fiascoes around the convention, but just can't figure out that just shutting up is, by far, his best move going forward. His campaign staffers have to be tearing their hair out.

I don't think she even made a sex tape. She was on the Spanish version of "Big Brother", where the camera showed her fooling around with a guy. There was no nudity.
