So I'm supposed to extend this courtesy to the people who hide behind the guise of political correctness when they denigrate swaths of people. I'm not that big of a person, I won't treat them with kid gloves.

Take Newt's brazen attitude in that interview. He isn't humbly asserting that feelings supersede facts but instead wears it like a badge of honor and this guy is likely going to be serving in Trump's cabinet. It's one thing for an electorate to be misinformed or even willfully ignorant but one of their key representatives? Nah, that #### can't fly.
Isn't that denigrating swaths of people?

Looks like Trump and Putin are going for the kill. Had a great RNC, sabotaging the DNC...

Clinton is spending 15x what Trump is spending in negative ads and is still losing. Wait until Trump opens his personal pocketbook and starts shoveling dirt onto Clinton's presidential bid.

BURRIED

Can't tell if you're joking or not.

Great RNC?

Clinton is losing?

At what point did you decide Snark is more important than the facts?

CNN/ORC POLL

Sunday, July 24 General Election: Trump vs. Clinton CNN/ORC Clinton 45, Trump 48
Sunday, July 17 General Election: Trump vs. Clinton CNN/ORC Clinton 49, Trump 42

CNN's polling been tough on Trump this year too IIRC. Congrats, btw that has both Donald rising and Hillary falling, whereas before we had just seen Hillary dropping.

The real facts are Trump still only has a 32% shot at winning the election and Hillary will get the same bounce next week.

It's really startling how bad some of you are with the data available. I mean, I guess it shouldn't be, but it is.

I do enjoy him, I watched the bit about the Trump convention last night, but he's kind of a broad Brit nerd caricature - I have been trying to think of what an American counterpart would be if shown in the UK?
No, man, he's really a Brit nerd.

And t that's no caricature. That's what Brit nerd sound like

Trump Credits One Of 'Our Friends' In Russia, China With DNC Hack (VIDEO)

Donald Trump on Monday attributed the Democratic National Committee hack that led to the ouster of its chair to “one of our many, many ‘friends’” in Russia or China.
At a campaign event with running mate and Indiana Gov. Mike Pence in Roanoke, Virginia, Trump said although outgoing DNC chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz worked “very, very hard to rig the system” in favor the of presumptive nominee, Hillary Clinton “threw her under the bus” after emails between top DNC staffers were leaked online.

“Little did [Wasserman Schultz] know, Russia, China, one of our many, many ‘friends’” – Trump emphasized with air quotes – “came in and hacked the hell out of us. Can you imagine?"

Trump was discussing the cyber attack on the DNC, which has been widely attributed to Russian intelligence forces.

The public release of thousands of messages stolen from the DNC’s servers and published online Friday by Wikileaks has been a high-profile embarrassment for Wasserman Schultz and other top staffers, who discussed trying to get Broadway tickets to see “Hamilton” and weighed an attack on Sen. Bernie Sanders’ (I-VT) religious beliefs.

Is this guy getting cocky or what?

People who don't think John Oliver is hilarious trouble me.
His show has more laughs than most, but it's especially good when he starts from the middle and works his way out (which is the majority of his output).  His stuff on Civil Asset Forfeiture was insanely good.  His show on Oregon's wasteful spending on the Obamacare website was spellbinding.

When he starts from the left and works his way farther left, you're reminded why you don't get your news from comedians (his Hobby Lobby salad bar rant was borderline moronic).

HOWEVER, he does walk that tightrope much better than Seth Meyers, who has gone so far off the left side of the page that he's just unwatchable.

Fallon did an extended joke last week on Mike Pence having the audacity to eat at Chili's in NY instead of a fancier place.  That was the joke.  That with much fancier options available, it was inconceivable to Fallon that Mike Pence would even consider eating at a low-brow establishment like Chili's.

It's that left wing arrogance that's going to hand Trump this election.

Facts and intellectualism are fantastic! But you should not denigrate anybody for what they may legitimately be lacking in IQ. There is a bell curve and American politics does not cater solely to the intelligent.

It takes all races, creeds, and intelligence levels to form a society. If you let your intelligence and facts speak for themselves, fine.

But look at Barack Obama, most rational people would say he's a smart man. But many people don't think he's done a very good job so they have suspicion that it takes more than just intelligence to be a great leader and president.

Your logic is great but your rhetoric is reckless. Of course everyone wants to put the reigns in the hand of a smart man, but when that smart man has failed them they turn their head to something else.
A smart man would know it is reins, not reigns.

Nay, nay , nay . Nate :nerd:   Silver say Trump has a 57% chance to win

When you respond to their skepticism with insults, you get our next President Donald J. Trump!
Are you trying to say that it's OK to put someone who is un-intelligent in charge?

Sorry EM, but your argument is non-sensical. Even dumb people generally want smart people making decisions...that might well be a big part of WHY there's a anti-intellectual push to begin with...it's someone (relatively) smart pulling a fast one on folks who are (relatively) dumb but not COMPLETE idiots, convincgin them that intelligence is not nearly as important as it is. Sorry EM...but intelligence might well be the single most important trait the leader of the free world must have, and when Joe plumber thinks about that, he generally agrees.
