You guys act like I don't know about the 2008 housing market crash. That's all my business text books talk about. I've written numerous papers about it.

I probably know more about it than most of you. Predatory lending is not good and definitely not great.

Your missing his point, that 2008 was the low point and the last 8 years have provided far healthier economic conditions. Many people's 401k and housing values have recovered, and as many are also pointing out job prospects have improved. Through education and hard work, people have opportunities now and over the past several years that they didn't have in 2008. In 2008, a person could have all the education and work ethic possible, everyone was screwed. I can see if one didn't own a home, have a 401k, or a job in 2008 it may be hard to relate.

oh, I see.  You are claiming everything leading up to the recession was great, and you have been unhappy with the following recovery.  Is that about right?

I'm learning so much in here about the market crash and subprime crisis. It happened in 2007 though. Not 2008. But those details don't matter when you have knowledge from the best books from schools that offer College Algebra. 

I would love another trickle-down economics lesson from Em. I missed it the other day and I'm sure there is a wealth of knowledge in there as well. 

 
lol at reading books and writing papers about the 2008 market crash.  Most of us here lived through it - as in, owned property... not living in parents basement, worrying about passing drivers ed class.  We watched it happen live and in person.

Trump spokesidiot  (krazy K) was just on cnn to reassure us that there was no shakeup. They are just adding more talent to their already terrific campaign staff.

That crash cost my in-laws about $100,000 and my wife and I still own property in NY because of it. My BIL was in the business of flipping house and got caught by the crash but he did some serious wheeling and dealing and almost broke even, if he been able to sell those house he would have been so much better off.

When you're still living with your parents and hunting for crappy entry level jobs in your mid-20s, you don't have anything better to do than be ticked off at the fact that a black guy with a funny name is sitting in the Oval Office.  :shrug:

When you're in a recession, there's nowhere to go but up. I'm just saying it's not saying much that we "recovered".

There are many flaws I do not like about the recovery.

I'm not upset with the recovery completely, it obviously could have gone worse but giving Obama a pat on the back for such isn't really saying much.

I expect the economy to recover no matter who is in office. If the economy isn't recovered, then we have a problem. I'm not going to give someone kudos for doing their job.

But you also have to account for the fact that Obama has increased the national debt more than every other president combined. If it didn't recover after spending all that money, we'd have big problems. Even with all that spending he didn't  reach a 3% GDP growth the only president not to do such.

There's also troubling metrics about African Americans pre and post recovery which I am sure plays a role in the recent BLM movement.

You think you know more because of your business textbooks?  And papers you wrote while struggling for years to gain an associates degree?

I doubt you know more about anything...than anyone else on this board.

Considering the crash was the example used when teaching many core business, fiance, and economic lessons. Yes.

I have studied numbers, drawn graphs, written papers about these things and have an insight that you guys don't because of it.

ETA: I bet whatever relevant events which occurred while you were in school you have a great knowledge of as well. Better than if they weren't examples used to teach you.

We were and we weren't not great because of the collapse itself, that's going to happen in any economy. It's the recovery and Obama's poor leadership that to me in my opinion, makes us not great from that point.

You can argue policies created before that time lead to what happened in 07-08 but I was asked specifically "when" and based on what happened from that point on, there it is.

I would loop in the Iraq war and 9/11 into not being great and establishing Islamophia but I was too young to use this information in my determination. It's plausible we were not great at that time either.

It's an opinion. You can't really measure greatness, it means something different to everybody.

I don't get up in arms if I think your opinion is silly.

Typical Trump: gives a "strong" speech that could give people something to talk about then have that be pushed to the back burner by doing/saying something that dominates the news instead.

That's called media bias. They're choosing to cover the nonsense instead of the substance which then gets parlayed into "Donald doesn't have any policy".

I don't know. I can't claim to be an expert at everything, I know my limits.

All I know is that race relations are very bad, there are less blacks working now than before Obama was in office, less blacks have houses than before he was in office, and more blacks are on government aid than before he was in office.

Maybe the recession hit the black (poor) community rougher than everyone else and they're still lagging behind. 8 years though.

I just figured Obama would take care of his people. Not in a racist sense but I know he brought in record black vote only for them to be in a worse position than before he was in office. I would be mad too.
