But she's done exactly that.  If you love warhawks, drone strikes, globalism and neoconservative nation-building there's really no reason not to love Hillary.
Drone strikes - I'm in favor of them as an alternative to boots on the ground.  Terribly unfortunate when innocent people are getting killed but I don't see a reasonable alternative when it comes to defeating groups like ISIS

Globalism - it's reality, either adapt or die

Nation building - I'm in favor of giving air support to people fighting for democracy

Oh, so learning on the job is now okay as long as it's not Obama.
First off "learning on the job" as President is far different than "learning on the job" for Vice President.  Ask Joe Biden.

Secondly, that statement referenced her post election career.  She could have been a player, but she chose to not improve her skills and knowledge base.

:lmao:

Dedication to this is admirable.

Yeah, because that's the same as actually being President\VP.
I guess the simplest way to break it down is that she's at the very least equivalent to Joe Biden (but likely far more intelligent).  People have a problem with her because she's a strong conservative woman.  Someone like that seems to threaten you greatly.

They can teach a cat to poop in a toilet.  I think they can teach Palin that the President of Lithuania is Dalia Grybauskaite
Ever watch the HBO movie "Game Change"?

You should check it out, it's all about the Palin selection process and what happened leading up to the election.

Basically it's not just that she's uneducated, she's unintelligent too.

That was just a liberal hit piece.  If you'd like, I can direct you to several videos where Obama is put in a negative light.  All about the spin.

Because it's assumed that the audience is intelligent enough to understand that Tim is not talking about the crime of their entrance into the country, instead talking about committing crimes after they are here. And most of us are, considering that Em is the only one I've seen make the response you reference.

it doesn't make Tim look like a liar, it makes anyone who uses that argument look like he's just interested in semantics and not discussing the actual point.
Well first, that's a ridiculous assumption in the Trump thread.

And B, I'm pointing out a way for Tim to avoid the sidetrack and keep the discussion on his point rather than allowing  the opposition to redirect. Of course you and I know what he means but we're not the ones he's trying to convince.

Oh lord.

It's not the spin. I've seen her speak. Many times.

She can barely form a complete sentence much less understand the topic she's speaking about.

But by all means, if you'd like to post an instance where she appeared the slightest bit intelligent I'd love to see it.

So your position is that Palin could have easily learned but Biden wasn't qualified to begin with?  That's wacky

No, it's that people didn't seem to be clutching their pearls with Joe Biden being a heartbeat away from the Presidency for 8 years.  I'm not saying he wasn't qualified, but he was a person of below average intelligence.

...and just to be clear, my intention isn't to hijack this thread.  I'm just answering questions.

With that said, I'm admittedly doing the "Snoopy Dance" during this discussion.

Trying a schtick thing seems like a lot of fun, but I don't know if I'd have the dedication or patience. It's probably a lot of work. But I do enjoy the art of taking a completely absurd idea and valiantly arguing for it.

Not much shtick is better than "Palin is actually smart."

I like how her degree is in Communications yet when she gives a speech people don't know WTF she's talking about.

She's a little, spiteful person. You say she's lazy

I'm getting the gist that you were heavily on her band wagon from some posters comments. Time to let that ship sail my friend.

You cant seriously believe any of this.

She is a ####ing moron.

Lot of elected politicians are idiots.   Biden is not very bright & I think is a CAREER politician right out of college, but I wouldn't mind him in my boat for a day of fishing.  Also some congressman thought Guam might tip over & sink.  Holy cripes.

Brandon Judd, the president of the National Border Patrol Council, explained in written testimony prepared for a hearing Thursday before the Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on Immigration and the National Interest.

Catch and Release

There are a number of factors that are driving the illegal immigration that we are seeing. Many point to the endemic violence in Central America. Without a doubt violence and instability in Central America is a factor. It is not however what is driving the problem. The single biggest factor driving our illegal immigration right now is our catch and release program.

When Border Patrol Agents arrest illegal immigrants, we interview them. Most illegal immigrants believe that they will either not be caught, or even if they are caught, they will not be deported back to their home country. Most believe that they will simply be issued a Notice to Appear (NTA) and will be released.

Candidly, they are not wrong. If you are an unaccompanied minor we will not only release you, but will escort you to your final destination. If you are a family unit, we will release you. If you claim credible fear, we will release you. If you are a single male and we do not physically see you cross the border and you claim that you have been in this country since 2014, we will release you. Do you have to offer any proof that you have been here the last two years – absolutely not. We will take your word for it.

We have encountered individuals in the Rio Grande Valley who are still wet from crossing the river, who have claimed they had been in the United States since 2014. Under current Administration policy we processed them and let them go – sometimes without even issuing an NTA.

The illegal aliens that we apprehend are practical people. Before making what is a very dangerous journey and risking a lifetime of savings, they weigh the costs and the benefits. Right now with catch and release, the costs are lower than the benefits. As long as we continue with this policy they will continue to come.

Twenty years ago we faced a similar problem with Brazilian illegal immigrants. If we did not have enough detention space and started to release illegal immigrants with NTAs, they would flood that sector. The second we held illegal aliens in custody pending deportation, the flood of Brazilians stopped overnight. I know that if we simply remembered this lesson once again we could decrease the flow of illegal immigrants attempting to cross.

For the record, I didn't say she was smart.  I did say that she was a human being capable of obtaining knowledge if she dedicated herself to learning something.  I didn't believe that to be a very high bar.

OK jamny I believe that if we catch people here without legal documentation they should be forced to pay a fine in order to achieve legal status. If they refuse to pay they will not be given legal status and should be warned that if they commit crimes they are subject to deportation.

I can't believe anyone actually thinks this way. Could we at least get them to pinky swear they won't commit a crime?

Sure. It's as meaningless as a warning.
Well of course. But one sure fire way to prevent crime is to have a population that doesn't commit crime. And every study shows that undocumented people commit  far less crime than do American citizens. So in general they're safer to be around.

They wouldn't commit any crimes in the US if they weren't here. Let's start there so we can focus on crimes committed by US citizens.

But overall the way to solve illegal immigration is to let tons more people in here legally.
If you want to change the laws on the books say so.   If you want to ignore the laws on the books say so.  If you like the laws on the books say so.   In your own sweet time of course.
