When Ireland sends its people, they’re not sending their best. They’re not sending you. They’re not sending you. They’re sending people that have lots of problems, and they’re bringing those problems with us. They’re bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists. And some, I assume, are good people.”
Is it the same reason why God does not like illegal immigration to heaven?

In AZ we can't build enough homes that have been permitted due to the labor shortage from aggressive illegal immigration policies.

It hurts the economy I would shudder to think of the impact on a national scale.

Under Trump, these jobs will be filled by homeless people and unemployed teenagers. Win-win!

So everyone cared enough to bash Trump for the speech he made on immigration but when I try to bring up a point for a little more discussion all of a sudden people aren't interested in the topic. Gotcha. And the rest will just ignore the question because maybe they actually find themselves in agreement with Trump and they don't want to admit it. It really was nothing more than a simple question to generate some conversation because I would like to hear some opinions on it because I actually value the input from both sides on issues here. Especially from people who are affected by it because they live closer to the border.
I think what you're missing is that most people realize that immigration, legal or otherwise, is a net positive for the country. It's certainly not a priority issue. And if we were talking about immigrants from Europe it wouldn't be an issue for anyone. But the white trash get all lathered up because some immigrants are brown and speak another language.

:wall:  I think what almost everyone is missing is that I'm not asking about opinions on immigration as a whole. I was just wondering about what people thought about doing away with Catch and Release.

Good friend went to emergency room in Gilbert AZ(phoenix suburb) hospital 4 months ago because he completely cut off 1/2 inch of his index finger.   Urgent Care clinics(all over Phoenix area) would not take him due to the severity.  He waited 5 hours holding his hand over his head.   90% plus of the 50 patients in front of him were Mexican.   I won't mention what the nurse told him about the line in front of him & how many had insurance etc., as it would be complete heresay on my part.

It is a problem in Arizona & not a net gain as some claim.   I've mentioned before of the times I've hired Mexican/latinos in Arizona for lanscaping.   Paying by cash is preferable & at a discount.  If they have a company name you make the check out to an individual, not the company.

Listen, I like them, their love of family, & their work ethic.  To say they are a net gain to Arizona though is a real stretch.

I went to the emergency room the other day and got seen immediately.  I guess the health care system here in Texas is pretty close to perfect.

Hey man, I don't care if the people in front of my friend with the cut finger were dying, they were Mexicans, and we're white!

Was it hearsay or heresy?

My friend is Mexican.   He had insurance.   According to his nurse 9 out of 10 did not.  Way to throw the racist card out there though.   stay classy.

I love it when the urgent care people tell me who doesn't have insurance
And when they tell me if patients are "illegal Mexican", "legal Mexican", or "Mexican-American citizens". Because it's always important to know these things. Plus, HIPAA doesn't apply to immigrants.

I think there was a real life example of this somewhere in the farming industry in a state that was cracking down on illegals/migrant workers. I would imagine if somehow Trump really is the smartest guy in the room and could figure out how to deport the 11 million illegals here on day 1 of his term, the farming industry would be in serious trouble. Maybe he also has a plan to ship all "the blacks" from inner cities across the country that he plans on giving these jobs to to CA to start picking avocados and tomatoes? (I apologize for even saying that because it is so awful on so many levels)

Honestly, when it comes to immigration, way higher on my priority list would be some due diligence around LEGAL immigration. Specifically H1Bs and enforcing the laws around them - forcing the large companies importing low-cost labor to actually prove they HAVE to because they can't find any US citizens to fill the positions. But that's still not something that is going to crack the top 10 of #### I care about when deciding who to vote for in November.

Here we go. Example from Georgia farming industry. I feel like it was a different state that I read this about, so there may be more.

ETA: Forbes article which is much better. http://www.forbes.com/sites/realspin/2012/05/17/the-law-of-unintended-consequences-georgias-immigration-law-backfires/#57ed6882404a
Which is why when Trump talks to his base about illegals, he never discusses the supposed economic costs. Instead he focuses on the supposed crime. And even though Trump (and his fans) claim that the main problem with those without documents is that they are here illegally, all of his solutions are targeted against Hispanics only, not all who are here without documents (such as those who overstay their visa.)

You're giving Trump too much credit by assuming he knows these thing but chooses to ignore them. He doesn't know them.

But you said Hillary's opinion on catch and release "it might help me in my decision." That lends itself to a response about your decision making. Is an opinion on whatever "catch and release" means to you going to decide who you vote for for president?

So no Guatemalans, Ecuadorians, Peruvians....all Mexicans?  Crazy how somebody could get an accurate count like that.   How many of them were citizens that didn't have insurance?

A buddy of mine smashed his toe in a some fetish deal gone horribly awry. Anyhow, he went to ER. There were at least 22 Mexicans, 7 Guatemalans, 14 Puerto Ricans, a llama, and a tranny from the Philippines ahead of him. All were here illegally. He was seen immediately.

I disagree, He is pandering to the racism and bigotry

I'm glad we quit trying to make our cases with anecdotes

So much crap wrapped up in crap.  Studies have shown that illegal immigrants are a small positive on the federal level and a big drain on the state level due to welfare state policies.  Your statement about European immigrants is pretty odious.  Of course immigrants from Europe would be less of an issue - the general level of education there is much higher than in central america.  Much higher chance of a random from Europe being a positive impact than one from down south.

Sorry to bring logic to your party here.

Sounds like a preface to a eugenics rant.

Considering that's likely a HIPAA violation I have concerns with the veracity of your "story".

How is that a HIPAA violation?

I'm looking forward to the 2040 election landscape, where automation in the workforce is ubiquitous and a hot-button issue. I predict that blue-collar workers will come together with illegal immigrants to protest/call for the deportation of robots. I foresee myself being pro-robot.
