Nate Silver has Trump going from 3% chance of winning to 48% chance now.

And he's not spending any money...when is he going to start running some TV ads?
Probably when he figures out how to launder his campaign funds by paying his own companies or children for them.  Have you really not figured out the scam yet?

Just kidding- he's actually running ads already.  I see them during Nationals games (watched by lots of old white dudes in Northern Virginia). Not a lot, though. They seem to be focusing their resources elsewhere.

Bolded is the focus, IMO.

At one point, Jeffrey Gold tried to bring up Thomas Jefferson's ownership of slaves because Jefferson was a Democrat and so is Hillary Clinton.
History 101

Congressman James Madison started the party among Representatives in Philadelphia (then the national capital) as the "Republican Party"; then he, Jefferson, and others reached out to include state and local leaders around the country

So this will change nobody's mind, but if you're someone like me who is incredibly frustrated by this mess and at their wit's end about what to do about it, give yourself five minutes of happiness by reading this Drew Magary column.

It's not a clever professional takedown of Trumpism like John Oliver or Seth Meyers have done, or a thoroughly reported story that reveals Trump to be a liar and a fraud in one specific respect like David Fahrenthold has done. It's pretty much just a few hundred words' worth of entirely accurate and justified #### yous, and it made me happy, and I don't even care if it hurts the cause at this point.

I do get the sense that some of David Fahrenthold's incredible stuff on the Trump Foundation is starting to break into the public consciousness though.  He's on CNN and the Today Show today and the Trump campaign felt compelled to issue an angry non-denial of his reporting last night.
Your previous post regarding the noise was correct, but as that article I posted in a separate thread pointed out the media has thus far tried to treat Donald like a normal candidate.  I think that manufactured impartiality is about to wear off and they will keeping harping on these big issues like the Trump Foundation until they beat it into people's heads.  But let's be honest, he's still going to get 40% of the vote regardless.

That column had a link to Olbermann's brilliant 17 minute rant on the '176 Reasons Donald Trump Shouldn't Be President'

I wish every Trump supporter would watch that.

Stephen Hawking and 375 scientists write open letter condemning Trump for his ignorance on climate change and his stated intent to walk away from the Paris Accords:

https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.cnn.com/cnn/2016/09/21/politics/scientists-open-letter-trump-climate-change/index.html?client=safari

I continue to believe this is a key issue which could have an impact on the election if it's raised during the debate. Most of the public, IMO, is unaware just how clueless Trump is about this issue.
"Have you seen this guy?  He can't even talk without a computer.  Low energy. Sad."

Which will make the mismanagement of the Haiti earthquake relief fund a compelling narrative
Mismanaging (perhaps) the aid of a poor nation devastated by an earthquake is pretty much the  same as using your foundation's money to buy 6 foot paintings of yourself, buy a Tim Tebow football, paying off fines because you want a big Trump property flag, paying yourself for events at your own properties.

I was about to link Magary's Deadspin mailbag from yesterday, first question is (paraphrasing) "What if Trump calls Hillary Clinton a ##### during the debate?"  But this GQ rant will do.

It should definitely make us all nervous, but lemme try to help out just a little bit:

The principle behind 538 is that no one poll all that useful as a prediction tool, that it's better to aggregate all the polling information to come up with a few of where things are going.  They used to be the only ones doing that, but now there's others.  And I would argue that the same principle should apply to aggregators who analyze all the data and trends- you get a better picture if you look at all of them.  Of them, 538 is the lowest on Clinton's chances at the moment.  You can see them all here about halfway down the page in "win probability."  The others all have her between 63% and 81%.  The one with 81% is the Princeton Election Consortium, which has a very good reputation.

And as you'd expect, the betting markets put the numbers somewhere in the middle of all this too, making Clinton about a 2-1 favorite (66%). Although obviously they can also account for expected debate performances, or the increasingly slim possibility of America finally pulling its head out of its collective ###.
Heard a discussion about this last night (CNBC?) and that where people put their money on the line tends to be the most accurate predictor. Although they don't always get it right, ie Brexit. Polls struggling with technology changes (lack of land phone lines, caller ID, internet, cell phones, etc) to get  accurate random samples.

Come to Pennsylvania they're on all of the time.

"It's a movement, not a campaign" (obviously)

Hillary spending 53 times as much on ads in Florida

A whopping 95 percent of all campaign television ad spending scheduled between today and Election Day — more than $143 million worth — comes from Clinton’s team, according to an ABC News analysis of CMAG/Kantar Media data.

Team Clinton will spend $143.2 million on television ads, versus only $6.8 million for Team Trump.

Question for King - what's Neil deGrasse Tyson?  A physicist ######?
King is like a cat with nine lives. I think on separate occasions a few people who owed him money kind of ended up dead, later a state Governor pardoned him out of prison.

Big day today in Trump-land. It's the four year anniversary of the day Trump angrily (and wrongly) accused Romney of stalling until to release his taxes!

Donald J. Trump Verified account @realDonaldTrump

Mitt Romney didn't show his tax return until SEPTEMBER 21, 2012, and then only after being humiliated by Harry R! A bad messenger for estab!
Can you imagine a candidate for president of the United States not showing their tax returns until SEPTEMBER 21, 2012????  You tell 'em, Don!

Extremely disappointed in how little Omarosa's been used in the campaign so far.
There's a great video from Trump's Black Outreach Tour where Trump and crew are in the pews of a Baptist church while the praise & worship music is playing.  This is an environment where the congregation will raise their arms and hands in worship and sing along if they know the words and/or have the lyrics available.  Some of the staff is combo of used to the environment or going when in Rome and have arms up and singing along.  Trump is kinda looking around like Ricky Bobby during his first interview, "I don't know what to do with my hands".  And Omarosa is SELLING that she is deep in worship, head down, one arm WAY up, like she's in the audience hearing a girl crush the Dreamgirls soundtrack during Showtime At The Apollo.

Signature Trump move: if he's critical of someone for something he has done it or is doing it worse.

It's like Kellyanne Conway has written in big letters on a whiteboard in Trump Tower as the new Trump campaign mission statement,

"I KNOW YOU ARE, BUT WHAT AM I?!?"

Signs of Narcissistic Personality Disorder

Project onto others qualities, traits, and behaviors they can’t—or won’t—accept in themselves. Because they’re compelled from deep within to conceal deficits or weaknesses in their self-image, they habitually redirect any unfavorable appraisal of themselves outwards, unconsciously trusting that doing so will forever keep at bay their deepest suspicions about themselves. Getting anywhere close to being obliged to confront the darkness at their innermost core can be very scary, for in reality their emotional resources are woefully underdeveloped.

Broadly recognized as narcissists by their fundamental lack of self-insight, very few of them (depending, of course, on how far out they are on the narcissistic continuum) can achieve such interior knowledge. For in a variety of ways their rigid, unyielding defenses can be seen as more or less defining their whole personality. And that’s why one of the most reliable ways for them to feel good about themselves—and “safe” in the world they’re essentially so alienated from—is to invalidate, devalue, or denigrate others. So they’ll focus on others’ flaws (whether or not they really exist) rather than acknowledge, and come to terms with, their own.

Yet, it's Obama that wants to open FEMA camps to take over the country and round up all of our weapons.

How long until Trump promises to punish people that didn't vote for him once he's elected? I swear that's gotta be coming soon.

Scary article by Jake Novak of CNBC as to why Trump should be the favorite at this point to win the election:

http://www.cnbc.com/2016/09/21/three-states-that-could-swing-the-election-in-favor-of-trump-commentary.html

It's pretty convincing...
This is an article that was written with the conclusion in mind and working backwards from there.

Could Trump win? Obviously yes. But cherry-picking polls to argue that he leads in two states where the poll aggregates, demographics and historical data make him the clear underdog, and then rolling in a third state (FL) and treating it as a necessity for Clinton when it's really more of a luxury she can win without, shows me he's either partisan or click-hunting.

Look at it this way- where in that analysis are the must-win Trump states that Clinton could conceivably pick off, ones that data shows to be just as close or closer than those three states?  Where's North Carolina and Nevada and Iowa? If those aren't considered then you should ask yourself whether you're reading an objective analysis or not.

Again, he could definitely win. And he could possibly win all three of those states. Not trying to downplay that possibility at all. But if he does it won't be because he lost the popular vote but picked off those three states. It will be because national momentum carried him to a popular vote win that maybe brought those three states along for the ride.  And he's not >50% to do that right now.
