Official Donald Trump for President thread (3 Viewers)

You think Trump is gonna show up for the final debate?

I think he's maybe 50/50 at best.  He has a lot more to lose than to gain, and he's already sowing the seeds for bailing by trashing the bipartisan commission, complaining about his microphone, complaining about the last debate being 3 on 1, etc.
Why would Hillary even show up?  She should just mic drop, do speeches about her policies, and let him drive his train off the cliff.  She has zero to gain from a third debate.

If the stuff that Trump says and evidently does doesn't make you angry, there really isn't all that much to say, honestly.
Sticks and stones.  There are a lot of bad people in the world saying and doing a lot of bad things.  I don't see why it would make me angry unless he actually became something more than a reality tv star, like president.  But, honestly some of the anger in here is directed his supporters too, some of our fellow board members specifically even.

I've heard this "armrest" argument used 3 different times now: on CNN last night, on MSNBC today, and just now by Sean Hannity.

The gist is that on first class planes you can't lift the armrest; therefore the lady in The NY Times story, who said that Trump lifted his armrest and started mauling her, must be a liar. This story has already been debunked but I'm betting it's the "evidence" that Trump claims to have...

Curt Schilling defends Donald Trump's comments on ten-year-old girl and it's hard to watch. Like, really hard:

I really can't believe how low the bar has gotten for so many supporters who will say the most preposterous things to defend idiotic, undefendable statements.  They just need to stop and continue to let Trump bury himself deeper and deeper.  There's no spin or saving him at this point.

I'm somewhat concerned that airing a third debate will create a nation wide discomfort level so high that it will tear a hole in the space-time continuum

We can agree to disagree then. I have a wife and two daughters, and stuff like a skeezy old man talking about 10 year old girls and wanting to date them in ten years, or sneaking backstage to leer at Miss Teen Universe contestants naked makes my blood boil. As does sexual assault and sexual harassment in general.

I'll take it further -- I'd bet that he actually thinks that he's going to win the election.
Anyone else would probably understand the situation--have some dim realization that it's not going particularly well--but in his mind it just morphs into "IT'S RIGGED"

What are the odds he doesn't even make a concession speech? Just a huge rant where he threatens more lawsuits.

You actually think there is a 50% chance he doesn't show up? Seriously?

Trump also found time yesterday to warn that if Hillary is elected, ISIS will come conquer America:

If he's right about this, how many of you guys are willing to head into the hills and become Wolverines?
What a dope, seriously. The other stuff is so outrageous he can say this, no one bats an eye anymore.

I do.  I think he won the second debate.  I think the polling numbers show that.  I think the very very slim chance he has includes a knock out 3rd debate.
Yeah I guess. And i suppose he's not exactly the cautious type, plus as others have said these one on one, big ratings debates feed his ego. If I were him I'd be concerned about something I said being used against me in a civil sexual assault case, though. Of course if I were him would also not sexually assault people.

I don't think he does.  For all his blowhardedness I think he has at least some small semblance of being able to understand reality every once in a while.  He'll yell to his "build that wall" and "lock her up" crowd about winning but he knows.  You could see as much in that sullen comment he made a few days ago about not dropping out by saying he was going to at least try and limp across the finish line.

That is a good point. Anti-Hillary people direct most of their disgust at her but the Anti-Trump people here can be just nasty towards his supporters.
Well, yeah. You guys think that a stupid and bigoted reality TV star who wants to default on our national debt and give nukes to the Saudis is qualified to be President.

Fair point.  He does have a record of bailing, though.  He bailed on a GOP primary debate and chickened out of that Sanders debate he asked for on Jimmy Kimmel or whatever it was.  And he just bailed on Hannity today.
My guess is he fakes a heart attack at the third debate and Pence becomes the nominee

I'm always amazed at the self control of the non bat crap crazy people on the panel.  It's gotta be hard to keep it civil with her and that white haired guy who always has his mouth hanging open pretending they don't realize what a vile piece of #### Trump is.
She reminds me of the Martin Short smoking lawyer on SNL.

I'm being talked into lowering that quite a bit, but I think there's still a decent shot. He's going to have to answer questions about sexual assault allegations, and he's gonna have to do it without the advice of an attorney or the recourse of the 5th Amendment. That seems like a problem.

Not sure how anger towards people on a internet forum helps your daughters.

Yeah, but he doesn't actually believe that he's done anything wrong.

He won't be under oath.  He'll just deny it.

Yeah.. who can blame his supporters?  So many people in the world just like this.

All of these are indisputable traits, at this point.  What did I miss?

He will be at the debate.

Don't tell me it'd be Cruz.  I might just jump out and yell boo at Trump hoping it'll happen
There are a bunch of complex rules that have been discussed up thread -- I'm no expert, but legally I think that they'd have to reconvene all of the delegates and come to some kind of consensus.

True, although that's how he got trapped by Cooper last time. The broad, generic denial is what triggered all these stories. He might want to be more specific or try to outsmart the questioner this time around.

There's also the fact that he's bailed on debates before, and he's started making excuses already.  But I hadn't considered the ego/ratings factor, which is a valid counterpoint.

It might draw more stories, but I don't see how it hurts him in any legal sense.

He did actually try to duck the question from Cooper last time.  Cooper had to ask it three times.

Can I get odds on whether there is a final debate?

Not that I'm some Johnson guy but would be nice to see the two of them on stage.  Just to see what that looks like.

All a part of Trump's master plan. He bails on the final debate, Johnson fills in and crushes Clinton, takes half her votes and Trump is POTUS

NPR has been doing a replay of the debates with pauses to let the 3rd party candidates to respond and answer questions. Worth listening to IMO.

Hillary's corruption is a show stopper for me.
Love it

It's not a partisan POV at all. I mean, Hillary's charity sure looks like an obvious middle-man for access. Trump's charity never paid for giant portraits or sports memorabilia still in his possession, and it's never been under investigation or the threat of investigation (before Donald made a well-timed campaign contribution). Let's ignore the fact that while a highly partisan congress has tried and failed multiple times to prove wrong-doing on her part, Donald was TWICE indicted. Let's ignore the thousand or so lawsuits and the dozens of reports of sexual aggression and racism.

The idea that Hillary Clinton is MORE corrupt than Donald Trump is beyond absurd. She might be, probably IS, corrupt, but she can't hold a candle to the Donald. If corruption was the hot-button topic for the right wing, they couldn't have picked a WORSE candidate to face her.

Likely has tremendously bad body odor.

Despite all of this circus, despite all of the incredible, ridiculous things he's saying...this race is not over.

Latest Ohio polls show Trump up 5 points back in the lead. Latest North Carolina and Florida polls show him closing into near dead heats. Rasmussen shows Trump ahead nationally- I know that's discredited, but only a few days ago Rasmussen had him behind by 7 points.

I have no idea who these people are who weren't supporting Trump before and now are, but they're around. 538 just lowered Hillary's chances from a high of 86.5% to 85%. He's alive somehow.
