Can someone summarize all the horrible things Trump said which scared so many people that they are crying non-stop?

Trump said "I'd like to hear his wife say something."  This seemed pro-women to me but it was taken as a huge insult to the Muslim community and people who served the military.

I am wondering if I need to be more sensitive.

OK....As promised...I have returned after the election  to take this Trump Train around the loop on a victory lap!   :drive:

I posted this in the "other" thread and I'll post it here.

I was a bad boy and have been sitting in the corner since last Saturday...and this was a good thing.  It was a good thing because it gave me some time to reflect BEFORE piling on!  It gave me time to see what the REAL problem is with America.

Good for us.  Good for my kids.  Good for you and your kids. All of us have to slip the bonds of the PC.  We may actually go back (yes...BACK) to a time when men were men (yeah...I said it) and our country wasn't afraid to upset someone else by saying the wrong thing.  Maybe, just maybe we can get our skin back and stop falling apart when someone "triggers" our inner-child.

Ok, so let's forget how Obama treated the opposition Party when HE won the election because after all...when HE won, members of the opposition party didn't riot in the the streets.  

Let's look at these riots...or the "demonstrations" of which I speak.

These demonstrations are the perfect example of the "####ification of America".  We cannot really blame the "children" that have taken to the streets in protest because after all, this is probably the first time that they have actually had to face defeat.  All of their lives, they've grown up with "participant" trophies,  ribbons for 10th place finishes, and not keep score during pee-wee soccer games because after all... in life....EVERYONE IS A WINNER!

They cry that "Hillary got more votes...It's not fair!"....having no knowledge at all about the Electoral College and why it exists.  All they know is that "It"S NOT FAIR!".  Nobody in their lives has taken two seconds to explain to these snowflakes that life is not fair and that things work a certain way for a reason.  This blame can be laid directly in the laps of parents and teachers.

Just as a child will throw themselves to the ground, flail their arms and legs while screaming to get their way...these "children" are throwing their temper tantrum.  Why not?  It has worked their entire lives.  They throw a fit and they get what they want.  Just as a 2-yr old throws a tantrum...eventually, daddy will find it necessary to grab that child by the arm, lift him off the ground, look him in the eyes, and tell him to "cut his chit and get over it".  Eventually, that will need to happen here.

These "protesters" do not know how to lose.  They were what??  Ten?  Twelve?  Fourteen years old when Obama took office?  They know no other President other than Obama.  Children do not like change.  They've never seen the peaceful transfer of power that is unique to the United States.  It is what separates us from the other countries.

Now, since the election, Clinton, Trump, and even Obama have been very magnanimous to help this transition.  They have all said the right things...certainly MUCH better than that those things that Obama belched out when he took office.

My "time out" has given me the chance to reflect enough to NOT pile of Tim, Squish, or Henry Ford (who predicted a reincarnation of the crash of 1929).  I have realized that that kind of behavior would to nothing to move things along.

I think now, the only course of action is to allow things to play our as our Founding Fathers intended.  

Trump has 2-years to lay a course that THE PEOPLE can accept. and rally behind.  If he cannot do this...take away his Congress.  If that isn't good enough...2-years after that...vote him out of office.

Maybe by then....our children may have grown up a little bit.

Ok...so that's it.  Now, as I promised Squish...I have returned after the election to take my "victory lap".  and I am now going BACK to my OTHER persona...whatever THAT is.

Last time I'll comment on this as many Trumpers think this is about only losing... It's way more than that and won't disappear any time soon. This isn't the rerun of the tea party. This is the popular vote. I personally am scared for my rights. I understand and encourage peaceful protesting. And, I know about 10 women who are heading to DC for the women's  march.

Well no offense, but a bunch of children "scared for their rights" aren't going to get a lot of sympathy from the group who was "scared for their survival" after their government failed to acknowledge their economic concerns for 8 years.  Sorry but who gets to use what bathroom is meaningless when there is no food on the table. You showed no empathy to those we were being starved to death in silence and now you have the audacity to scream and tantrum when someone other than you is getting their needs met. Demonstrators are embarrassingly selfish, in addition to the simply indecent disrespecting the office.

Trump wants to reduce illegal immigration.  I think some are coming in through Canada too and not just Mexico.

I am just saying illegal immigrants come into the country many different ways and not all of them are Mexican.  There are a large number who stay after their travel Visa expired.

 
Describing illegal immigrants as mostly rapists and drug dealers is not only foolishly wrong, xenophobic, and absurd, it's bigoted as well.

There are 11-15 million illegal immigrants in this country. Some believe there are even more than that. We cannot deport the vast majority of these people. And we shouldn't want to, as they contribute greatly to our society.

It would be an incredible thing if Trump were to reverse himself and offer most of these people some kind of amnesty. I don't expect it, but I wouldn't be surprised by it either (since as late as 2012 he was in favor of this.) In the end it's really the only practical thing to do anyhow. My own proposal, much harsher than Hillary's, is:

1. Any undocumented alien who wants legal recognition must formally admit that they committed a crime by coming here and staying here, and must pay a $5,000.00 fine.

2. For the rest of their lives they will be allowed to stay here, pay taxes as a citizen, and receive government rights and benefits as a citizen, but they can never become citizens. They can never be allowed to vote.

3. Their children that are born here are citizens.

4. If at any time during the rest of their lives they commit a felony of any kind they will be subject to immediate deportation (following punishment for the crime.)

5. If at any time after one year an undocumented alien is caught not having taken the step of formally admitting their status and not paying the $5,000 fine, they shall be subject to immediate deportation.

6. Any undocumented alien who spends at least 4 years in the military, or who serves any time in combat, can get a green card and eventually become an American citizen during their lifetime.

7. Tighten up our borders (I don't think a wall is necessary) but expand legal immigration from Mexico and Latin America in order to meet economic needs of the southwest. Get rid of the minimum wage in certain agriculture and related industries in order to get rid of the black market that has been created in these areas.

That's my 7 point plan. Shall I write our new President?

 
@timschochet, the fact that you exploit illegals by picking them up occasionally at Home Depot and paying them slave wages doesn't make you an expert on this subject.  I know less illegals would cut into your profits, too bad.

Calm down, Tim.  Trump did not say all illegal immigrants are rapists and drug dealers.  He acknowledged many are good people.  He wants to fix the problem that not enough has been done to keep bad hombres out of the country.

First off I don't pay any slave wages. Nice try.

Second, "cut into my profits?" OK sure. I hire these guys maybe 3-4 times a year. I have no idea if they are illegal or not. I probably save around $30-50 each time I do it. But if you don't let me, I might lose up to $200 a year max! Oh no, what will I ever do?

He said several times during the campaign that all illegals will have to leave the country. He wants to build a thick wall between us and Mexico. I find these to be terrible and hugely impractical ideas. I hope he changes his mind.

Hillary attacked Trump because some illegals working on his construction projects were hired by subcontractors without his knowing.  I was confused if she thought it was a good thing or a bad thing.

I don't ask if they're legal or not. So long as I don't pay them each more than $600 a year, it's perfectly legal for me to hire them.

In terms of not going around looking for legal labor, I really don't see the difference between this and other personal transactions I make away from government eyes, such as buying girl scout cookies, or engaging in a fantasy football league with my neighbors. Personally I would not hire undocumented labor for larger jobs exceeding $600 a year, but I don't condemn those who do.

She was trying to demonstrate his hypocrisy. In terms of his campaign ideas, Trump is arguably the most hypocritical candidate we've ever had. But not enough people cared, evidently.

Maher made this point - the left demonized Bush, Romney and called them names and labeled them things they never were.  Now Trump comes along and deserves those labels and it was like the boy who cried wolf - some of the people on the right were not listening because they had heard it all before.  So, taking that in to account along with all the economic issues it allowed people on the right to go ahead and vote for the guy.

 
I think I'm coming around on this whole thing a little. I wanted Hillary to win. I was pretty upset about the result. I don't like Trump. Even more I don't like that his hateful rhetoric actually worked. That's concerning and remains so.

But I'm coming around to understanding how reasonable, decent people could actually vote for the man. I had trouble squaring that in my mind over these last few months, particularly having so many people I know and love that did vote for him. The country has real problems and they wanted change (as they pretty much always do every 8 years). Hillary certainly didn't represent any sort of change.  As Daulton said earlier, a lot of folks were willing to overlook his being an ####### if it meant positive changes in the economy. That's pretty solid reasoning in an election with deeply flawed candidates. 

In fact, my ultimate hope is that maybe he turns into some form of the sort of candidate I've always wanted. If he's a positive for the economy without caring about any of the social conservative bull####, then it would be a major win, all things considered. If it ends up that he played the social conservatives to get to the White House with no plan on pursuing a socially conservative agenda, that would be fantastic, if he does come through on the economy. I have no idea if any of those things will actually happen, but it's in play I guess.  Of any Republican Presidential candidate in my lifetime, he probably has the best shot to actually ignore the socially conservative crowd.

That would be the dream. My guess is that he surrounds himself with career politicians and Republican leaders, and he'll end up listening to the more than I'd like. Disappointing, but hopefully, it won't be too bad and the next 4 years won't look terribly different than what they might've looked like under Hillary.

I found Trump's response credible because large American companies will not run the risk of knowingly hire illegal workers.  By law, they have to offer open jobs to Americans first, then other types of legal workers if special skills are required and they are not able to fill the position.  Hillary, on the other hand, showed her own bigotry and hypocrisy by raising the question.

This doesn't make sense. Hillary's biggest donors were from the Saudi's. You know, a place where it is cool to murder people for being gay and a place where its cool to give women 0 rights.

The refugee terrorists that Hillary wanted to bring over unchecked are people that would murder you for being gay.

Timschochet do you think you could make a detailed post on how to acquire slave labor within the law? I am looking to have some work done on my house, but I don't know how to get slaves legally the way you do.

Earlier this week CNN.com listed 24 different theories that pundits have provided for why Trump won. And the list isn’t even complete. I’ve heard other explanations as well. What does it tell you when there are 24 different explanations for a thing?

It tells you that someone just dropped a cognitive dissonance cluster bomb on the public. Heads exploded. Cognitive dissonance set in. Weird theories came out. This is the cleanest and clearest example of cognitive dissonance you will ever see. Remember it.

This phenomenon is why a year ago I told you I was putting so much emphasis on PREDICTING the outcome of the election using the Master Persuader Filter. I told you it would be easy to fit any theory to the facts AFTER the result. And sure enough, we can fit lots of theories to the facts. At least 24 of them by CNN’s count.

Generally speaking, the greater the persuasion, the more cognitive dissonance you get. Trump is – in my opinion – the greatest persuader of my lifetime. I expected this level of cognitive dissonance. Next time you see a persuader of this magnitude, you can expect the outcome to be cognitive dissonance in that case too.

This brings me to the anti-Trump protests. The protesters look as though they are protesting Trump, but they are not. They are locked in an imaginary world and battling their own hallucinations of the future. Here’s the setup that triggered them.

1. They believe they are smart and well-informed.

2. Their good judgement told them Trump is OBVIOUSLY the next Hitler, or something similarly bad.

3. Half of the voters of the United States – including a lot of smart people – voted Trump into office anyway.

Those “facts” can’t be reconciled in the minds of the anti-Trumpers. Mentally, something has to give. That’s where cognitive dissonance comes in.

There are two ways for an anti-Trumper to interpret that reality. One option is to accept that if half the public doesn’t see Trump as a dangerous monster, perhaps he isn’t. But that would conflict with a person’s self-image as being smart and well-informed in the first place. When you violate a person’s self-image, it triggers cognitive dissonance to explain-away the discrepancy.

So how do you explain-away Trump’s election if you think you are smart and you think you are well-informed and you think Trump is OBVIOUSLY a monster?

You solve for that incongruity by hallucinating – literally – that Trump supporters KNOW Trump is a monster and they PREFER the monster. In this hallucination, the KKK is not a nutty fringe group but rather a symbol of how all Trump supporters must feel. (They don’t. Not even close.)

In a rational world it would be obvious that Trump supporters include lots of brilliant and well-informed people. That fact – as obvious as it would seem – is invisible to the folks who can’t even imagine a world in which their powers of perception could be so wrong. To reconcile their world, they have to imagine all Trump supporters as defective in some moral or cognitive way, or both.

As I often tell you, we all live in our own movies inside our heads. Humans did not evolve with the capability to understand their reality because it was not important to survival. Any illusion that keeps us alive long enough to procreate is good enough.

That’s why the protestors live in a movie in which they are fighting against a monster called Trump and you live in a movie where you got the president you wanted for the changes you prefer. Same planet, different realities.

Although I voted Hillary,I never liked her hawkish foreign policy attitude.  Other liberals here should agree that Trump could be better for us in this respect.  I'm really glad we don't have a neocon in office, we all should be.

No one knows who we have in office. That was one of the major reasons for voting for Hillary. It appears that Kellyanne and others have gained some control - Trump tweeted about the unfair protests and then a few hours later tweeted about the passion of the protesters. I'm waiting for his reply to Megyn's claims that he tried to bribe her. It will be an entertaining 4 years. I hope you're right about his foreign policy.    

 
Trump is going to pawn off all the work to whoever he picks. Hopefully he doesn't surround himself with a bunch of Breitbart lunatics.
