Amazing what a rookie draft can do. I went from an aging and very shallow WR corps to looking pretty good in a day. I thought I would go RB/RB or RB/WR (smith was a target of mine all the way, but I had to think when Ginn was still there), but CJ changed that.
Now RB is my weakness, but I do have two pretty good #2 RBs that are the focal points of their offenses so the touches should be there. Lineup is:
QB P. Manning - Set for 5+ years
RB Edge - Should be an ok starter for 2-3 years if the wheels dont totally fall off
RB Green - Ahman is an interesting player. I think he has something left as he looked good at times last year with an awful line. Again, should be an ok starter for 2 years as they invested heavily in him down in HOU.
WR Marv - Should be good to better than good for 2 years at least although he is getting up there in age. Might be prime trade bait if my season unravels as he could propel someone with a WR need over the top
WR Calvin - Always some risk with a young player, especially WR but this guy is the goods. He and Manning should be a nice anchor for the next half decade. If I can get a true #1 RB at some point, watch out
WR Stallworth - Seems to be overlooked a lot this year with Moss coming into town. He won't rip the league up, but I find it hard to believe he will not play between a #2 and #3 FF starter
TE - Crumpler - One of the best TEs for the next few years, if not the best not named Gates.
Key Bench:
RB: LenDale White - Will he grow up? If so, he could surprise. If not, he will suck.
RB: Brian Calhoun - I still think this guy has loads of talent. But to call him a sleeper is an understatement.
RB: V. Morency - Also had some very good moments last year, but we will see what happens between he, Jackson and the GB line.
RB: Leon Washington - Probably no more than a bye week filler, even if T Jones goes down. But he showed some nice flashes for sure and if T Jones (when?) gets hurt, could have a chance to surprise some with his talent and playmaking
RB: Just took Tony Hunt. Likely to do near nothing this year, but Westy does get dinged a lot. In 2-3 years, who knows, he could surprise (or he could not)
WR: Steve Smith NYG - I really love this guy. If Manning pulls it together, with Smiths great routes and hands, he could be a very very solid #2 or even #2/#1 guy for a long time. Could be starting by the end of the year.
WR D Mason - Old, bye week filler
WR: Furrey - Probably just a bye week filler now, but if CJ gets dinged or ends up having a slow start, he isnt bad insurance.
WR: Parrish (Buf), Roby (Ten), Carter (Car) - all wishing on a prayer
