*** Official *** FBG's Goal Line Blitz Discussion Thread (2 Viewers)

I've got a level 15 ROT with STR and blocking soft capped. Everything I have read advises one of two things. The first is to level them both equally, which I don't like. It seems like I'd be better served pushing one to the 2-cap ASAP to get more out of the free skill points from leveling. So the other option I've seen advised is to 2-cap blocking first, then STR. My player has had no problems blocking DEs slightly above his level so far (0 sacks given up and he's a run blocking beast), so should I go for STR first? Or will that end up hurting me when this A league becomes uncapped next year?

My other question was regarding SAs. I plan on staying a run-focused RT, so will I ever need to put points in the pass tree? And how high should I try to pump the pancake SA?

ROT generally need more STR than blocking since they'll be doing run-support the most. If you can, you want to be able to pancake a guy and then be able to block / pancake another. LOT just needs to be able to hold a block most of the time. Honestly there's no consensus (at least that I've seen, maybe someone else can enlighten) on which is just straight better. I prefer STR for ROT and blocking on LOT. Pancake SA really tends to kill in around 3-4, but you don't -need- any in it to rack them up. I had 0 in it and still reached triple digit pancakes against guys around similar levels. Confidence I think helps a lot when your outmatched, at least for me when I started jumping leagues with my guys. If you plan on moving up I'd recommend it. :)

Anyone considering purchasing a new team next season in a capped league? If so please bear my CB in mind for possible employment;

http://goallineblitz.com/game/player.pl?player_id=769217

Custom equipped and will upgrade at level eight. Not boosted yet - will do so at the end of season four. Concentrated heavily on speed and agility to this point, trying to hit the soft cap ASAP. Will round out his other skills in due course as he develops.

Quiet in here. Does anyone have a level 16 and under OT that they would like to get max playing time and build however they want? I've got an OT that is moving and so I have an opening on a capped team, using it as a developmental team.

I have a level 14 power running back in the D-leagues. Trust me when I say that he is easily the best player I have built... he is a total monster... breaking 30 to 40 tackles a game, every game.

Anyways, I plan on keeping him in the D-leagues until playoffs start (I can keep him there all year, but once the playoffs come I wouldn't mind helping out a FBG w/ a level capped team).

Let me know if you're interested in a ringer for the playoffs in a level capped league. He still has all 3 boosts too.

I am sensing a huge dropoff in interest in this game. I have already heard from a few guys on my team that they are not sure what their status is for the next season. They don't want to move on, they are just busy and the NFL is starting up and they are not looking to pour more $ into this thing at this point.

I myself plan on retiring a bunch of my players so that I don't have to put in any more money for season 5. If there are other teams that are in the same boat maybe we should discuss merging our teams. If we have 20+ people still interested but not looking to spend $50 a season we could all drop down to 2 players each and still field a complete roster for little $. Of course, if there are guys on my team now that want to keep all of their guys on the team that is great!

I am just thinking ahead to next season and don't really want to get out and recruit level 28+ players.

A huge drop off of interest on my team. The forum use to be active and now it is dead. I have had one FBG let me know he is losing interest and not sure he wants to keep so many players. If things continue, I am not sure I want to keep ownership of a team. I believe I have ownership for another couple of seasons. Recruiting has been a pain in the booty. I think the guys running this thing have no business sense at all and have made mistake after mistake that has made this go from fun and enjoyable to being a pain. I can see getting an influx of other guys into the team (I have a feeling I am going to lose a few key guys) from a consolidation would help me decide to keep it but otherwise, I think down the road, I may shut it down. If so, I would like to move my guys that I do not retire to a good FBG team and let those on my team do the same as they wish. We shall see. That is several months off in the future. Things could pick up or get worst. Who knows.

The novelty is wearing off. I have put all the money I can afford in to the game, which is not much compared to some others, but, with levels tapering off unless you boost... sorry, not going to happen next season. If Bort gives a 100 flex points after the season I will have 5 boosts left between my 3 players. I plan on boosting the lowest level all 3 and playing it out.

When your players reach season 10 or even season 9... a lot of players will be retired, if the owners are still involved, and things will start up again. You would get 70% of your flex back as well at that time.

Losing interest big time here as well. I've put in all the money I plan on. I will also be retiring players seasonally, and just continue to boost a couple of cheap players (two o-lineman). We'll see what the state of the game is at when I've retired all the others. I imagine it will be a wasteland by then.

if you guys want to cut down on your # of players/teams, I'm open to taking on guys with the Free for All...

At worst, I have 8 guys on the team and I'd be willing to retire a number of them to make room for other FBG players, and from the sounds of it there might be a few others willing to do the same...

just from what has been said in this thread and those I know 100% will do this (me and one other guy), the players pool we can "consolidate" some from is:

1 RB

2 OTs

2 OG

1 WR

2 DTs

1 DE

1 LB

2 SS

1 P

plus I'm sure there would be a few others who would be willing to retire one or two of thier guys to help another guy they have stay competitive...

I'm sure a few other players on my team would be interested in this, too, so if other FBGs would like to join the FFA, just let me know and we'll do what we can to figure out how to make it happen...

I'm on a Canadian Pro team and although I'm the only FBG on the team, it's a good group of guys.

We are just getting our legs after being gutted before the start of last season.

We are a few high level players away from a playoff run for Season 5 if any of you guys are interested.

is the problem that you're somehow required to boost 3x per season to stay competitive? has anyone played on a team where players don't boost and had fun? sure you wouldn't be moving up to USA pro or anything but as long as you are beating teams at similar levels, what's really the difference?

If I continue with the game after my current guys career's are ending... I will not boost and probably have a little more fun. I like the Footstar soccer game a little better though. Always has been free so there was no need to ever spend money unless you want to manage a team.

anyone up for starting a new team season 5 full of non-boosters? aside from the flex point cost of managing the team, we could all create a player or 2 for next to nothin and try it out ... now that we've all played, we could plan our builds into our team strategy from the get-go too

I know a guy who made a punter. The punter is level 6 or 7 right now but needs a team for next year. The problem with starting a new team is the stadium. If there is a full stadium than money wont be a problem like it would be if it is a completely new team.

I think that one of the many probles. These guys have no business sense at all and do not seem to know how to deliver product in a way that keeps customers. They have rushed in and added teams and made the whole thing chaos. You have different guys all over the board in leagues. To win, you MUST boost. There are so many teams now that it is hard to recruit and everyone gets over loaded with offers and PM's etc. The game engine is drastically changed all the time and you have to pour tons of time to keep up. If you end up owning a team and do not a few guys you can trust and are willing to help out as GM then it quickly becomes a chore rather than fun. You need to have seperate leagues. Different levels. Basic leagues, Intermediate leagues, and Pro leagues for example. You set the basic leagues with the basic settings and no boosting allowed. The Pro leagues on the other end of that spectrum where you have all the extra offensive and defensive settings etc and expectation to boost. Then, you make sure that the leagues are leveled with logic and allowing competition. Just off the top kind of an example of things they could/need to do or they will end up having an idea that exploded and grew so fast but ends quickly in a miserable failed fad.

I have a level 27 QB and a level 27 CB that I am willing to send to a good FBG team.
I could use the CB. I am expecting that I lose one of my top CB's because he has been inactive for two weeks. Yet another frustration that has had me thinking of hangin' up the cleets or at least ending my ownership of a team and retiring players. Anyways.... I hate that because I have built this team up and it is a good team. We have $45 million sitting around and only two sections left to build for our stadium which is already paid for. I have given lots of my players max cash contracts. I would like to continue building this winning team and keep it. I dunno.

The leagues will shake out eventually, the problem is that eventually might be 2 years from now and the game can't wait that long. If Bort would just promote/demote blocks of teams at a time, instead of 2 from each league then this wouldn't be a problem. Maybe a no-boosting league would make sense though. For the beginning of next season, I will have:TE2 CBOTLBWRDTAll are going to be about lvl 14, all have custom gear and boost at the end of the season. I'd prefer them to stay on the same team. I don't care about stats, I just want my guys to get playing time. Let me know if you can use this group of players.

I'm willing to sell my players for a fairly low price if someone wants to get in with some very good talent. I quit after the notion that jumping helps kickers.

Yes, it's illegal, and they can deal with it.

I'd give it away for free, but I did put a ton of money into it--worst case, you can retire my players and get a ton of flex points.

I think I have one of the best center builds in the game. :X I'm a 30 and compared my bars to the lvl 32/33 guys... equal or better than all of them.

I am also done buying flex at this point and I will spend what I have and retire players until I decide to just walk away.

Anyone needing a home I am involved with 3 teams but we need about level 30 to start 25 for backups.

My understanding was that jumping helped punters while speed helped kickers.

If FBGs and Bourbon St can both win another game, we'll have a FFA matchup in the final 4 of that friendly tournament. Good luck guys.

My level 26 (almost) LB needs a home since his team is disbanding. Looking to start.

I am getting quite a bit of interest in my LB. If a FBG sends me a PM or an offer, please indicate that you are a FBG in the title. I prefer to be on a FBG team.
What's your name over there? What's your LB's name?I have a QB on a Canadian Pro team and we aren't getting a lot of wins, but we are competitive.

We just need to fill a few more holes after being gutted. I'm the only current FBG on the team. Mainevent used to be on it.

It's a good group of guys. No jackalopes. We got rid of the jackalopes early last season.

This is going to end up being the story of the season next season. It's rare when you see a gutted team stick in a Pro League without getting relegated. It's a unicorn when you see that same team make the playoffs. We seriously might make the playoffs if we can get some guys to stop the other team's offense. Our offense is really clicking right now.

LOL...duh, Dope. Click on the player link.

Early morning vodka sometimes doesn't work.

And this offer goes out to any high level guys.

Our Canadian Pro team, a good bunch of dudes. Need to fill some holes.

What I can tell you:

1. We have good tactics and good coordinators.

2. We have a really good owner.

3. We don't have a lot of money and need to build up our stadium.

4. We have a lot of paybacks to dish out.

I'm losing interest real fast. The Riots have been fun, and I'll keep my guys over there.....my others I'm debating on just retiring, no talk in the forums, nothing. Just boring as hell.

Congrats to the ****Official FBG's****** on making the Final Four.

Bourbon Street hopes that we can win our game so that the two of us can do battle.

I wish we didn't screw with our settings in these scrimmages as it bit us and got us knocked out. Congratz to anyone still alive. My focus turns to the Canada Pro playoffs now. Good luck to all of those in contention for playoffs!
