Wait until this evening when the team is formed. Wait to be contacted with a contract offer. Accept it. That's it. Make sure you select "allow trades" in your profile if you accepted a cpu team offer. BTW the CPU run teams often offer a good bit less than you will get from a team run by a person.

There should be sort of a minimum to offer. Make sure you save some for stadium renovations so we can have more money. Also, We will not be great at level 1 to start but we will gain a level nearly every game if we are playing. So we will be higher than the CPU players no later than 5 games in.

Yes, If you have spare Free Points, you can use them to level instead of making more than one player.

Owner sets strategy for the O and D before each game so you need to pay attention to the strengths of your players. If you have a kick ### run blocking line and good RB, shift more to the run, etc.
