I think if you figure it out it is around $250 or so per team per season to boost. So teams that have been around since season 1 have already put in $1000. Multiply that for a few 1000 teams and add in custom equipment and you are up in the millions no problem. You'd think that would justify a few customer service employees........If I had any program skills whatsoever I would be busting my ### to build a competitive game because this thing could be SO much better than it is now.
Why not get a couple of people together here and get ideas going. If we or they would be able to get 10-20 people with a few programmers, some related to customer service, some related to other areas... a competitor would be what... a couple months and it could be up and running? The big question is the programmers obviously.
i'm a programmer and have been thinking about making my own version of GLB for a few months now ... seriouslyi'd definitely be interestedeta - in fact i already started talking to a buddy of mine about how we'd do it. he's more of a basketball nut though ... i'm sure there could be another american football one that could easily compete though
I am a computer guy compared to many but programming is not my thing. I would be more of the "idea" guy and the back end of the business if you will. Advertising and so on would be my thing.
all we'd need is a handful of people. 2-3 programmers at best and they'd have to be on the same page. i'm an idea guy that programs but wouldn't do the business end stuff as much.
Not a computer guy, but I'd be happy to kick in some cash for a server or whatever you computer people need :)
now you're talkin :thumbup:i'm rather broke but i got ideas and i can program :)any more web programmers on FBGs?
big ideas but not willing to commit $$$$ into a business venture :boxing:
seriously... programmers >>>>>> money...its not even close, especially for something like this...
no #### but it doesn't appear any of you guy are Bortand not having any dough on the table is risk free. when the crap hits the fan the people in a business with no $$ invested can bail only loosing sweat equity

I have a feeling you are over-estimating how much money it is going to take to get something like this off the ground... It doesn't take a ton of money to put up a website... and advertising for this will be easy (especially if its run by 10-20 FBGs)...honestly, everyone involved in this would be able to easily bail at any time, because if you have that many people involved, it should take a massive investment by anyone...

Not everyone has the resources. I personally do not. If I was part of a group that was really serious about this, I could reach out to some resources and be able to contribute cash (likely, assuming I could sell it to the principles I am thinking of) but not everyone has those resources. For me, I am not a programmer and I am not flowing with cash at the moment to commit on call. I basically have time to contribute. I am not sure how much I could help out in the early stages but again, if there is a serious group of guys that are really putting this together- I am more than willing to be a part of it. In the end, I think you have to really commit to something like this for it to work. That does include the willingness to put a chunk of cash in to the game or give up more equity or time to balance that out.

However, Duffman's thing about stopping talking about this on a public message board is true, we need to move someplace more private if we really want to do this... (and we need to find a couple programmers more)
Chain email. PM's commence.

somehow I think they'll be 20 "idea" guys , 2-3 programmers and 1 money guy
the thing is...the programmers are going to do like 75% of the work for the first 6 months or so...and then the 20 "idea" guys become message board mods and costumer service and thier works becomes a giant hassle..However, Duffman's thing about stopping talking about this on a public message board is true, we need to move someplace more private if we really want to do this... share breakdown should be -money guy 49.5% , programmers 49.5% and "idea" guys split 1%

Without a doubt. My lack of programming ability is the only reason I didn't do this two months ago.
I wonder how many of accounts at GLB are paying customers just thinking out loud here but does anyone suppose a mod at GLB has access to the email database

I think part of GLB's problem is this...everyone is a volunteer except for the programmers and money guys... thus it sucks...
I think this answers my Q about the email database

I would love to help you guys out, but as a structural engineer, unless you eventually need to build an office to hold all the servers you will have, I am not sure I can help you.

I would be willing to fulfill the role of an alpha tester who then goes and gives out mis-information to all the newbies and causes them to have to spend money to rebuild their players the correct way.

Is anyone else familiar with Footstar? It is similar but you are a soccer player. They limit you to one player and you essentially play your guy for 6-7 season before you have to get rid of him due to age. The only people who are paying money are the ones who want to run a team. If you just want a player it is free. The Footstar year is 17-18 weeks so just over 4 months. There is a game every week (league) and you can play friendlies as well. Playing friendlies promotes depth on your team in order to move up those guys to league play when they are ready. I am still playing friendlies and have never been on the full time league roster so things may change when that happens.Training is a big part of the game. Since games are every week you get 3 training sessions per day and you don't have to play games but it helps experience wise later on in the game so I have been told. There are also National teams that you can get promoted to but that is more of a soccer thing.Ideas for a spin off for American football would be to have 2 games a week. Keep a schedule of games on Wednesday and Saturday or Tuesday and Friday so the servers are not constantly running games. If someone was to spin off of Goal Line, I think it would be best to mirror Footstar initially but add tweaks to separate from them but also make it better than Goal Line.

Just to "warn" you, if you will. The game is very slow compared to Goal Line. You set your training and that is about it. You "watch" your player grow with the skills you train and you play games and can view the stats from those games. If you are ADD at all when it comes to games like this... Footstar is not for you. But, to me, the game is much better than Goal Line in many ways.

Note to FBGS:

DO NOT BUY ADVANCED EQUIPMENT!!!!

Upgrading it will be painfully slow and not worth the cost of the SPs you're sacraficing.

guys... I have a number of FAs....and have bombarded with offers (one of my WRs has over 300 contract offers)

At this point, I don't give a crap what team they are on, I just want them to get on a team where they will dominate and crush their competition. I dont care if they are 10 levels above the rest of the players on the team....

Send me a note HERE if you want to pick up my guys because I am averaging 150+ PMs a day over there.....

My user name there is s.i.m.

I have 3 WRs (level 26, 26, 22) two RBs (22,22) a SS (26) and a LB and two OTs that have contracts that expire in day 5 of next season.

I intend to retire several of these guys to fund the boosting of the others....

Let me know if you want any of them to crush your competition...

L.A Riots of USA AAA are in dire need of players. We were gutted by one or the GM's after winning our conference last season.

Level 28+ at any position other than QB would be great. PM me here or on GLB if you want to help an FBG team out! Cowboys1 on GLB

Wow, thats a shame. Any reason or ideas why they were gutted?

Just released his players and traded away some others to his new team. No rhyme or reason.

Maybe there is more to the story but I don't know it.

I thought the Riots were an almost all FBG team. Was it the non-FBG part that split?

so do you want my level 20 qb?? pretty sure i can shame his team owner to release him outright.

Looking for a RB. You will be our RB3, but make no mistake, he will get a ton of playing time. For instance, our RB3 last game got 59 plays. You need to be able to catch the ball.

I should be able to make a new RB and boost him to level 4 before game 2 of the season if you want.

Hmmm... My team is pretty high level. However, if you want to make one and develop him for a season, I'll bring him on as a lvl 15. Right now our RB3 is an inactive lvl 20. I'd love to have an active player, but bringing you on the team as a lvl 4 would be a big worry when you get the ball :lmao: I should have specified the level though, yeah. :goodposting:

I am losing a few agents from my team. They were nice enough to leave me their password in case I want to continue building and using the player on my team. These players were with me since start of season 2 and we built these players as a team very wisely. All have fantastic builds.

If anyone is looking to add a player then let me know. All I ask is that you be active and play out the remaining contract with the Thunder. After that I hope you will want to stay, but you are free to do what you want with the player.

If you are wondering if signing into 2 agent accounts is ok....yes it is. I have logged on for 2 different accounts since season 2. You are allowed 2 according to the rules.

Shoot me a PM if interested since I won't check this thread again for awhile.

Thanks

Available players:

QB Bush http://goallineblitz.com/game/player.pl?player_id=69110 (top QB in USA A1 that is on pace for 100 TDs and 8000 yards passing - insane but we run an all out pass attack offense)

HB Smash http://goallineblitz.com/game/player.pl?player_id=33335 (our best RB with a great build - 80+ speed, high agility, vision)

SS Ray Ray http://goallineblitz.com/game/player.pl?player_id=182991 (oustanding cover safety with super speed, high agility and vision)

CB Merriman http://goallineblitz.com/game/player.pl?player_id=78875 (great corner with super speed, high agility and vision)

Your level 25-35 players will be starters, now and once the roster is filled out after Day 40.

There is going to be a mass redistribution of players in GLB this offseason. I'm bring a ton of friends over as well as my players and we will compete for the playoffs this season and the BBB 11 championship next season (unless realignment happens first.) I know that'll be a large step back for most of you who are probably playing in AAA and Pro Leagues right now.

If you want, I'll open the forum for you to show you how active the forum was two seasons ago when I first tried to rebuild the team, but ran out of money because the team was gutted by the previous GM (more on that below).

Some history on the team, I took ownership of the team in the middle of Season 4. There were a total of 3 human players left on the team, who all asked to be released, and I released them.

Due to cultivated friendships and a great job as a GM of the Virginia Wolverines, I was able to fill out the team at most positions but not hard to recruit/trade positions such as WR and CB. We won several games in Season 4, but the team was having severe money issues due to a small stadium and no money, as well as the cost of salaries, bonuses and trading for talent.

I came up with a master gameplan for the future:

1) Rather than firesale my players like most owners, I released all current players to find better homes while the Tighas were rebuilt.

2) Signed my own players, then traded them away for max cash to make money to build up the stadium so that I'd have money in Season 6 to make the Tighas a playoff contender.

3) Created a bunch of players who can be retired or traded in Season 6 for more money.

4) Take a lot of lumps in Season 5 with the created players and CPU's, while saving all that salary and bonus money to work on the stadium.

Little bit more about me, I've been a GM for the Virginia Wolverines for 3 seasons now, very successful BBB team that moved up to USA A. Worked as offensive coordinator for 1 1/2 seasons, defensive coordinator for 1 1/2 seasons and feel that I have a pretty good feel for GLB (at least until they make changes to the code tomorrow, lol.)

Going to need a RB, preferably high level but I will take anyone at this point. If you are lower level and show loyalty, then I'll give you plenty of playing time.

Going to need a LB, same as above.

I quit checking in when the training got complicated and my time became less open. I think a simpler game would be more attractive. Honestly, the way it was at first was more appealing to me.

Same here.
Is training really that complicated? You can go up to two weeks without training if you want. Then just pick an intense combo and knock out a bunch of training at once. Takes maybe 20 seconds.

I have a level 21 HB that was passed around amongst gutted teams last season. He would love a shot on a non-gutted team even if he only gets a few carries a game. I boost and equip.http://goallineblitz.com/game/player.pl?player_id=665179
Welcome to the team!

When your player becomes lvl 24 midseason, do most good owners shell out the $200k in the form of a bonus to pay for your gear?

I was just wondering how this would work since my highest guy is only 21 right now.
