I have said it before, and I will say it again. Online dating does not work when you live in a small town. :wall:

And what is up with women that are 38, but list the upper age range they are looking for as 40? What is so special about 40?

I know I just got back into this, but I am already frustrated.
Denial and/or immaturity.Age ranges should look like this imo...

Men: (Age/2 + 7) to (Age + 4)

Women: (Age - 4) to (Age - 7)x2

Is it a double standard? Sure, but it's one that has worked well for thousands of years. It's going to take more than a few seasons of Sex in the City to change this. Science.

Yep. I think I'm going to like them around 23-28 and 34-37 until I'm 40-45.

Having drinks with a Roller Derby girl tonight... :banned:
Do yourself a favor and watch the episodes of "Weeds" this season with the roller derby coach (Jessica Kiper/"Sugar" from Survivor). But definitely don't do a google images search for 'jessica kiper weeds roller derby', especially at work.

No idea, I'll probably find out later tonight. I just know she plays, but I haven't asked her about it yet. Figured it would be interesting fodder for discussion over drinks.

:goodposting: No reason not to carpet-bomb the whole website. What's the worst that happens, they don't write you back, who cares? Best case scenario? :pickle: with a 10.Working on a message that's four-five lines long and can work for 90% of the profiles out there, yet still sound like it was tailored to be individually specific, is time well spent.

My routine has been some sort of combination of the following:Ask random question about small fact on their profile (How did you become a Red Wings fan in Texas? What piece do you have to be when you play Monopoly?).Mention where their profile matches with yours, likes and dislikes that may be the sameMention kids if they mention kids, making sure to mention basic visitation situation to let them understand my availability. Those that say they don't want any "games" or "players", I mention that I have been out of the loop so long I don't even know what the game is and could they help me out and explain.Offer to meet for coffee/drinks/milkshakes to see if there is a connection.Maybe those more successful could critique and let me know what I should eliminate or add.

Are you talking strictly first cold messaging here?

Not on free dating sites...

10: Almost flawless and very rare. Could be a top model, top playboy centerfold (nationally amazing, the MENSA of hotness)

More often than not I'd agree, but I'm 36 and dating a 40yr old. She's fun to look at.
Yeah, it depends on the girl. I know a 41 year old Korean girl, who can (and does) date guys in their twenties. It's not working out real well for her, but still...

Had another date with 1/2 Filipina chick a few weeks ago. We've been texting and staying friendly with each other since then. The first meeting, I thought she was gorgeous from the chest up. The rest I wasn't thrilled about. She's 5'10" so a large mid-section/rear on a frame that size is a lot of meat, if you take my meaning. Anyway, the second date I thought the bod looked a little better and we had a great time at a show (saw the GnR band that I like) so I started coming around to the idea a little since I still think she's beautiful (and those hooters... :excited: ).

Anyway, I was out of town last week and we were texting some and I told her that my back was killing me (hurt it at work) and really needed to get a massage. She replied "Well you should come on back and let me work out the kinks." Pretty nice softball there but I passed on it. Later on she said she was having stress headaches and I texted "Sounds like we could both use a couple of massages, how about Friday night?" She replied "oh my, that sounds AMAZING!"

And oh yeah, she told me yesterday that she just started training for a 10k. When she starts losing weight... woohoo!

Also, what does it mean when they ask you if you're just looking for sex? I've had two different girls ask me that (one was the 23-year old blonde I :pickle: 'd). Does that mean they're at least interested (not in sex necessarily, but in you)?

I live in LA, baby. 10s grow on trees. There are several models on OKC here.

Sometimes I miss my old job, the assistant director would give me piles of printouts of girls' headshots from central casting and let me hand-pick seven or eight who I wanted to show up and work with. Including height/weight/size/bust measurements.

That's the one. The fake up tops are nice. Send me the link to the those party pics. First I'm seeing of them.

Shared the FB album via private message. Some pretty cool shots of the fire dancers.

Yes, yes, yes to both of the above! Anyone whose initial message to me made it obvious that they'd actually read my profile always got a reply - even if they didn't seem like my type initially.

Mostly sounds good. I would never mention meeting or kids in the first message though.
:goodposting: I agree with Stu here. Keep it simple and interesting. Sending her a copy of your schedule when you don't even know if she's intereted is a bit over the top. It could lead to interesting shtick though - just cold message a girl "I'm free on x at y or a at b. let me know which one you choose and I'll tell you where to meet me."

Ive got an interesting date with a child psychologist lined up for Saturday night.

Have a feeling this date will be more about having fun and getting to know each other than my recent run of physical encounters.

It'll be interesting to mix things up a little.

I'm thinking about starting with a wine tasting, then mini golf and ending with dinner

I know thats a LOT and I'm breaking my rule of first dates being drinks only, but considering we just spent over an hour on the phone having a comfortable, rambling conversation, I think my standard template is out the window. Hell, I've gone entire month + long "relationships" without ever talking on the phone to a girl. I usually only give them my number the day of the date to text logistics.

might not be working out in terms of a long-term relationship but sounds like she's having fun.

Need some more good "icebreaker" type initial message options. I have used the "how much does a polar bear weigh?" line and amazingly, it actually worked pretty well.
Last time I asked a girl if she'd ever wrestled an alligator, because she didn't mention anything about it in her profile, I got a "wow." and never heard from her again.

"Ice Cream Girl" not only has not responded to texts or calls, but completely removed her profile off OKCupid. 1 Brunch with drinks - $501 Dinner - $55Gas for 4 hours worth of driving - $20Learning that the women of online dating are just as much as players as the guys - Priceless
ICG came out of hiding last night. Apologized for dropping off the face of the Earth. Claimed personal issues, not even sure if she wants to date right now. Sounds like a possible FWB type situation. Stay tuned.

Well I am now back in the iDating arena. GF broke up w/me last weekend after 11-months. Dusted off and updated the eHarm profile last Sunday and am communicating w/matches. Wish me luck...

Isn't eHarmony for serious relationship stuff? Why not hop on OKC or PoF and have some fun for a while?

 it used to be but not anymore. there is much better quality there IMO than the free sites like OKC and PoF. Think about it, if your hot you dont mind paying for a site like eharmony, but ugly chicks dont want to pay and risk noone talking to them, so they flock to the free sites. YMMV but eharmony is tops right about now from what i have seen.

This was my experience last year. I had solid hits on eHarm...of course that's also where I met the now-ex gf.

My date with OKC chick went great tonight except for one thing... She told me oart way through that she never kisses on the first date and rarely does on the second. I'm used to the debate being between sex on the on the first or second date. Other than that the chick was cool and fun. Not sure what to do with this one. Part of me like the challenge that might lie ahead, but part of my wants to just move on and not bother.

Oh, and I think I might have a date lined up for bloody Mary's in the am

Just got asked out by a 25 year old AA girl. I have no idea what she wants with a chubby white guy 12 years her senior, but I don't care. She wants "dinner, live music and me" for Saturday. Yes, please.
