Official Frank Gore Thread (1 Viewer)

(Rotoworld) After practice Friday, Frank Gore (questionable, ankle) confessed to reporters that he's been unable to make cuts on his sprained ankle.

Impact: Even though Gore said "I'll be able to go. I'm all right," on Friday, it's a big concern that he isn't able to make normal football moves on the ankle.

Yesterday at 10am..

For Frank Gore owners who may need an option should he not be ready to go....

and since the idiots in 49er land prefer Robinson on 3rd down ... that doesn't leave much for Gore! :goodposting:

Rotoworld, per Fox Sports:

According to FoxSports.com, Frank Gore (ankle) "didn't look good" on Saturday. His owners need to prepare as if he's not playing - we'll find out around noon. Maurice Hicks will probably start if Gore is out, with Michael Robinson getting backup duties. We'd actually take Robinson if we had to pick one because of his goal-line potential.
Watch out though, thich could be "The Czar" reporting, in which case I would think the opposite :lmao:

What a mess... I needed Gore this week with all my byes. I can't even imagine which of the 2 backups to even pick up. Damn you SF!

At least it is an early game so we should know before it is too late. Of course that means I will spend the next 3 hours deciding whether or not to start Ahman Green, Echemandu, or Julius Jones...

The Czar. LOLThe funniest thing is that this joker has about as much connections to any NFL team as the average FBG poster.

so who starts?
I would guess Hicks "starts" and plays 1st and 2nd down while Robinson comes in for 3rd and goal line duties.
I'd agree with this, although HC Nolan did say in his press conference this week that he wanted to get Robinson more playing time going forward... this might be an opportunity to do so.Either way, both RBs will play. Could be a case where the coach goes with whoever has the hot hand early.

I am a Gore owner. I picked up Hicks yesterday, but dropped him today for Robinson. Seemed like Robinson got more work last week when Gore was gimpy. I may actually sit Robinson and go with Selvin Young. Great choices, eh?

Same boat. I picked up Hicks but was debating picking up Robinson...and also deciding between Selvin Young. With T Henry starting I will probably start whichever SF RB I end up keeping.

The thing that would bother me most about Gore sitting is that this was a prime matchup and I wouldve liked to see him go off once to see if he was at least gonna be a solid RB2 from here on out. Pretty weird that Nolan said Gore would be ready to go earlier in the week. Almost as if hes not in tune with his team.

Gore was saying all week he would play. It really wasn't unitl Friday that Gore was sounding unsure. So imagine Nolan was making his comments based on what Gore was saying.

Just my .02Nolan is an idiot for even having him in the game last week when it was basically over after the 1st qtr..

Hicks starting according to RotoWire & ESPNNews:

Hicks will start at running back with Frank Gore inactive with an ankle injury, ESPNews reports. Hicks has a good matchup against Atlanta, so he could be someone to pick up or start as a last-second replacement.

It's confirmed by Joe Bryant;

Big news so far is that SF RB Frank Gore is out. He'd been a game time decision and we just got word he's out

When is Nolan going to get fired for the love of Pete!?!

was benching gore done with an eye towards SF's bye next week? or is gore's ankle suddenly a multi-week injury we should be aware of?

Niners have already had their bye
 crap, yes, i'm a moron... i have daniels and davis at TE, got houston and SF confused.ok, but other than my stupidity, any guess on how long gore will be sidelined? seemed like this was no big deal until it suddenly wasn't...

- gore sprained his ankle in week 8 7- was somewhat limited in practice

- sprained his ankle again in week 9 8, left during the 3rd quarter, didn't return... but the game was out of reach anyway

- limited again this week in practice

- benched for week 10 9

i'm guessing that since he reaggravated it before it had a chance to heal, they want to give him a chance to be near 100% before they play him again. so i'm guessing he'd be available for week 11 10.

thoughts?

As a Gore owner, I'm finally glad he's talking a week off to rest the damn thing. (not that I have any other good choices, R.Grant is it)

I hope he stays off the damn thing until Wednesday, and is ready to go next week and hopefully the rest of the freaking year.

Youre a week ahead of everything. He sprained it in week 7, resprained it in week 8, and hes out week 9. I also predict he plays next week.

this is week 9. move your timetable back one week and it's accurate.i don't think it has anything to do with wanting to give him a chance to heal - if he could have gone i think he would have. that said, i have no idea if another week gives him enough time to get to near 100% or not.

good lord. i'm just going to stop posting. i guess i pulled an all-nighter last night, but still... that's two wildly inaccurate posts in a single thread.

beat me to it..yup this is week 9.See alot of guys on the ball here today.Did you remember to turn clock back a hour?
wow. that's hilarious. no, actually i forgot... i mean, my computer updated automatically and i never noticed.man... so this is what 30 IQ feels like...

49ers coach Mike Nolan isn't sure if Frank Gore's ankle will be ready for their Week 10 game on Monday Night Football. Not an overly optimistic outlook for a Monday, but it's a long way to go until gametime. As the 49ers season falls apart, they may be extra careful with Gore. Michael Robinson would likely start for Gore again, with Maurice Hicks picking up plenty of work.
